Although checking in was easy, the overall stay was far from comfortable and fell well below my expectations.
I’m low-maintenance when I travel and only expect the basics from a hotel: running water, daily housekeeping, and fresh towels. Unfortunately, even these basic expectations were not met.
Each day, after returning to my room, the only thing that appeared to have been done was making the bed. The room was never properly cleaned, and I’m not even sure the bedsheets were changed. Coffee was never restocked, while the tea, which I never used, was repeatedly overstocked.
The service was also disappointing. The first time I requested ice for my room, there was no issue. However, the second time, I waited 45 minutes despite the hotel being practically empty, with perhaps only one other guest. When I called again to follow up, the ice eventually arrived, only for me to be rudely informed that it was complimentary the first time and would be charged thereafter. If there was a charge, it should have been communicated clearly and politely when I made the request, not after leaving a guest waiting for 45 minutes.
Upon checking out, I was charged 7,000lkr for breakfast for two people on the first day. I understood that breakfast was not included in my booking, but the amount charged was completely unreasonable considering what was actually served.
For a hotel, basic cleanliness, proper housekeeping, transparent charges, and courteous service should be the bare minimum. Unfortunately, this stay failed on all of those fronts. An easy check-in does not make up for poor service and a lack of attention to basic guest needs.
Overall, a disappointing experience and certainly not a stay I would recommend.
Each room had a sliding door for the terrace beach view 1 double and 1 single bed also when our single bed was not what we wanted it was replaced alongside the remotes. The beach is awesome. The host Muranga helped us setup the karaoke for our late night session.
