Sugar Beach Resort and Spa

An unforgettable tropical paradise! I recently spent my holiday at Sugar Beach in Mauritius, and it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we arrived, the service was simply wonderful! The staff is exceptionally welcoming, attentive, and always greets you with a warm smile. The culinary experience was fantastic, with delicious food at every meal, perfectly complemented by amazing, well-crafted drinks at the bars. Our room was spotlessly clean and maintained to the highest standards, with daily housekeeping that made coming back a pure pleasure. In fact, the entire resort grounds are kept impeccably clean. A special highlight of our stay was visiting the Glow Spa. The massage was out of this world and the therapists are mega professional, making sure you feel completely relaxed and pampered. If you are looking for a luxurious, relaxing getaway with top-tier service, Sugar Beach is the place to be. I can’t wait to come back!

We stayed at Sugar Beach for 7 days, in room 512, and overall our experience had both positive aspects and some areas that we believe could be significantly improved.

Starting with the room, while it was comfortable, the furniture and some of the finishes could definitely be in better condition. There were several small details that showed a lack of maintenance, which is something we would not necessarily expect from a hotel of this category.

Another aspect that disappointed us was the all-inclusive system. In our opinion, an all-inclusive experience should feel truly all-inclusive and effortless. Having to sign a bill after every meal or service takes away from that feeling and often creates an expectation of leaving a tip each time. There were also certain drinks, products in the room and food items in the restaurants that were charged separately, which was not always very clear and made the concept of “all-inclusive” feel somewhat limited.

Our biggest disappointment, however, was the lack of variety when it came to food. The cuisine is very heavily influenced by Indian flavours, and this was noticeable across the different restaurants and on most days. While we completely appreciate this type of cuisine, we felt there should be a much better balance and a wider variety of international options. For guests who prefer or need to follow a Mediterranean-style diet, the choices were unfortunately quite limited. After seven days, the food started to feel repetitive.

On the positive side, the hotel has a fantastic location and the surroundings are beautiful. It is undoubtedly a lovely place in terms of setting.

Regarding the service, the staff were generally pleasant, but we felt that the overall organisation could be improved. At times, the service seemed somewhat uncoordinated, which affected the experience.

Overall, Sugar Beach has a beautiful setting and plenty of potential, but for a hotel of this category, we expected greater attention to room maintenance, a more genuine all-inclusive experience, better organisation and, above all, much more variety in the food.

Chaya was great in making sure our room was kept beautifully clean and tidy Resort was lovely clean and spacious, food was of good quality although options are limited for stay of more than 7 days. Be prepared for service that takes a long time to fulfill any request.
