Set in a lush oasis of palm trees, La Pirogue looks like a Mauritian fishing village. The distinctive cone-shaped, thatched roofs are clustered around the seashore at the edge of lush vegetation. This isn't a fishing village of course - it's an incredible 4 star hotel - and there's plenty of wonderfully fresh fish on offer in the superb restaurants.
You'll never be short of things to do at La Pirogue. The vast swimming pool is an absolute delight. Impeccably designed and fringed by palms, it is one of the hotel's biggest attractions.
The restaurants are high up that list too. From the beach bar to the main restaurant, the chefs and bartenders at La Pirogue work hard to give you a mouth-watering selection of food and drink. You'll enjoy lots of fresh ingredients and a great range of flavours. (And for even more choice, three additional restaurants are available to guests at the Sugar Beach Hotel.)
La Pirogue is well equipped for sports and fitness fans. Naturally, water sports are popular - and there are lots of opportunities for you to enjoy the wonderfully clean, warm water, whether you're a novice or a pro-scuba diver.
You can enjoy games from mini golf to volleyball - and there's a full fitness centre on site. We also recommend the spa - an essential ingredient of a truly relaxing Mauritius holiday.
One final but very important factor is your room. All Standard Garden View rooms (from August 2017 Garden Bungalows) are at ground level, with terraces leading straight out into the beautiful palm groves. There is full air conditioning and additional amenities include satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer, safe, mini bar and drinks making facilities. Room upgrades such as Beach Pavilions are also available at a supplement.
You'll never tire of the sight of that perfect white sandy beach, or the deep blue sea; La Pirogue really does enjoy a perfect secluded spot on the West coast of Mauritius.

We’ve just finished a lovely family holiday at La Pirogue and have thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
The whole place has a great relaxed beach vibe and whilst it’s a large complex, it’s laid out in such a way that it never felt busy. There are plenty of loungers on the beach for everyone and the facilities are clean and modern.
The staff have been amazing especially Autun the restaurant concierge who looked after us all really well.
One of our group had a special birthday when we stayed and the restaurant staff did a great job to arrange dinner on the beach for us all despite the changeable weather. They set everything up then had to take it all down again as the wind got up and it started raining, but as soon as it stopped they set everything back up again just in time.
My only comment is that check in took far too long. There was no queue when we arrived but it still took over 45 minutes to check in the 6 of us in our group into 3 rooms. In my opinion this needs to be addressed as most people will arrive here after a long flight and don’t want to have to wait around before being able to get to their room and relax. We saw another group of 6 (I assume a family) arrive as we went to breakfast and they were still being checked in when we had finished some 45 minutes later. They must have arrived on an overnight flight so were probably even more tired than we were.
Despite this we still had a great stay and would definitely come again.
The service and the quality in this restaurant is excellent. And Leanne is the best!
We ate at two of the restaurants at this hotel whilst staying at their sister hotel. The staff at Le Morne were very attentive, friendly and made each meal special. Thank you to Hans, Sophie, Desire and Leanne, you were all so gracious and helpful and your hospitality was outstanding.
At Magenta, Jimmy our waiter was so attentive and friendly and was always making sure we were taken care of during our meal. His hospitality was superb. We had a good chat with Jimmy, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours Vikash his manager was also very helpful when choosing our meals and ensured we had a great meal. He took the time to explain if we had any questions.

Stunning first evening dinner at La Morné. Our waiters Daavinen and Hans were amazing and made sorted our every need. The food was beyond expectations and so good that we booked again for our special brithday celebrations.
Several meals taken at La Pirogue in the last two weeks. Service was excellent. A member of the party being a coeliac we were pleasantly surprised by the Gluten Free options.
