Absolutely wonderful evening spent with Ravi, head sommelier, being educated about some interesting wines. Moved on to Zafrani restaurant for a delicious Indian meal with a beautiful wine from the tasting from Stellenbosch, SA. Staff were attentive and welcoming Nihash, and Yavishni in particular. Super evening to be remembered in the cold nights of winter.
Wow! We absolutely loved this hotel and stayed here for part of our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived the staff were so attentive and the service was amazing. The food and drink choices were great, a favourite of ours was Zafarani, one of the à la carte restaurants. Special mentions to Jannel at the beach bar, Assirr at Zafarani and Tarvin at Infinity Blue. The spa was also absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed spending time here. My husband also enjoyed the golf course. Our honeymoon was made special and we would love to return one day.
We arrived at Heritage Awali on 24 July 2026 for a five-night family holiday in Mauritius, having booked directly with the resort. Our reservation was for two Deluxe Sea View rooms.
Prior to arrival, we had communicated our family requirements with the hotel, particularly the importance of having interconnecting or adjacent rooms as we were travelling with our children, as well as our preference for ground-floor accommodation due to an elderly family member.
Unfortunately, our experience on arrival was very disappointing.
The rooms allocated to us did not meet our expectations based on our booking and the prior communication with the resort. More importantly, when we raised our concerns, we were unable to reach a practical same-day solution that would allow our family to comfortably remain at the hotel.
We were subsequently informed that Beach Front rooms could potentially be offered from Saturday onwards. However, this did not solve the immediate problem we faced on arrival.
What disappointed me most was the service recovery. We were not demanding one specific solution. We would have been open to reasonable alternatives — another suitable room category, an immediate upgrade, or even paying an appropriate difference if necessary. Unfortunately, no workable solution was offered to us for that day.
As a result, despite having arrived expecting to begin our family holiday at Heritage Awali, we made the difficult decision to leave the resort on the same day and arrange alternative accommodation elsewhere.
Following our departure, there was considerable correspondence with the hotel regarding the situation and the refund. Communication was slower than I would have expected, and the matter eventually reached senior management.
To Heritage Awali’s credit, senior management ultimately responded, apologised for the delayed communication, and agreed to refund the full unused stay. The refund was subsequently processed, and I genuinely appreciate that the hotel ultimately honoured this commitment.
Nevertheless, receiving a refund afterwards does not change the fact that the main problem could potentially have been avoided with more effective problem-solving at the time of arrival.
For a resort of this level, I believe service recovery is an important part of hospitality. Problems can occur at any hotel; what matters is how effectively and promptly they are handled. Unfortunately, in our case, the response at the time we needed assistance fell well below our expectations.
I am sharing this review as a factual account of our family’s experience. I recognise that other guests may have very different experiences, and I appreciate the hotel’s eventual handling of the refund, but our own stay unfortunately ended before it had really begun.
We had an amazing stay at Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort. The property is absolutely beautiful, with stunning surroundings, excellent facilities and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to switch off and enjoy every moment.
What really stood out for us was the friendly and welcoming team. From the moment we arrived, we experienced genuine Mauritian hospitality, with staff always willing to assist and make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
There is also so much to experience at the resort. We loved the variety of activities, beautiful outdoor spaces and opportunities to simply relax and enjoy the surroundings.
A fantastic resort, wonderful hospitality and a truly memorable experience in Mauritius. Thank you to the entire Heritage Awali team for making our stay so special. We would happily return!🌴❤️
