Zilwa Attitude

We came to Zilwa Resort in Mauritius thinking this was going to be all about sun, water sports and games organised by the hotel staff. As our holiday winds down, we feel the real highlight was hidden somewhere between the Indian Ocean, drum beats and the smiling, ever-so-friendly staff of the resort. To us, the real highlight of our week's stay was the food. The Karay buffet restaurant offers a wide variety of what you would expect of a top hotel. However, the real star of the experience was the 4 themed à la carte restaurants dotted across the shady grounds. We enjoyed Lor Disab fine dining and Shameen so much we had a couple of buffet lunches there as well. The Indian restaurant, Tadka, did a wonderful 3-course meal with so many different fragrances and flavours. The Mauritian-themed restaurant Kot Nou dished up a main course of specialities with 3 options to trial new flavours we hadn't tasted before. We loved the Tamarind sorbet, and the food and beverage manager, Nitish, introduced us to the Tamarind fruit in its raw form. The chutneys are really tasty as part of the start too! But the top two seatings we had were at the island BBQ and the Thai restaurant, Manao. The BBQ items we loved were the braai-ed steak and the two seafood pots. 2nd visits essential. Nitish and Elodie, the guest experience manager, helped us get a second seating with Chef Woody at Manao. I loved the Prawn Pad Thai and the Seafood Salad. The flavours and combinations are so subtle! Who would think of a black pepper and butter sauce for fried chicken! Adarsh our waiter also looked after us so well. We had so many new food experiences that will make it a holiday to remember and hopefully repeat. A big thank you to the special people who are so interested and motivated to do their jobs well!

We had a fantastic stay at Zilwa Attitude. The food was amazing, especially the A la carte Restaurants. Beach is stunning, we enjoyed canoeing in the gorgeous blue sea. Staff at the bar on the evening are brilliant, especially Maanish, Arvind, Satyan & Suman, they always welcomed us and had a drink ready waiting for us. A special thank you to Satyan for making amazing cocktails, and to Arvind for getting us pizza’s ready for our long journey home. Hotel is amazing, everything is nice and clean. Only criticism is before arrival I contacted them to inform them that we were coming for our honeymoon and that I had paid for a sea view room, which I didn’t get on arrival. I had to speak to a member of staff at reception who organised a room change for us. Unfortunately we didn’t get any personal message left in our room from the hotel about it being our honeymoon which would have been a nice touch.
