The Domaine de Grand Baie residence is an ideal place to stay for those seeking a relaxing and luxurious vacation in Mauritius. The description of the setting for Grand Baie, with its uninterrupted blue sky, lagoon and turquoise waters, lush tropical vegetation and white sand beaches, is certainly enticing.
The property offers a range of amenities, including restaurants, bars, a spa, swimming pools, and various activities, which should appeal to a wide range of guests. The fact that the residence offers 145 apartments means that there should be plenty of space and options for those staying there.
The Studios are well-equipped, with a fully equipped kitchenette, a private bathroom, and various other amenities such as air conditioning, wi-fi and terrace/or balcony.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Very disappointing experience with the spa staff
We had a very unpleasant experience during our recent stay at the hotel, particularly with a staff member named Fabiola from the spa.
My mother had just undergone back surgery and, after six months of being mostly at home, this was meant to be a relaxing day out for her. Unfortunately, instead, she was humiliated in front of other guests when she was loudly told to get out of the pool simply because she was not wearing a burkini.
This was actually our fifth time visiting the hotel, and on our previous visits, we have always worn leggings and a shirt while using the hot pool without any issue. If there is a specific dress code for the pool, it should be communicated clearly and respectfully to guests rather than being shouted at or embarrassed in front of everyone.
I was also shouted at in front of other guests regarding water on the floor and told not to pour water there. However, this is a swimming pool, and naturally there will be some water around the pool area.
We came to the hotel expecting to relax and enjoy ourselves, but instead we felt uncomfortable and constantly worried about being confronted by the staff member. Eventually, we returned to our room and stayed there until check-out because the experience had completely ruined our day.
What was especially upsetting was the way my mother was treated, particularly given her recent surgery and the fact that she was simply trying to enjoy some much-needed relaxation.
At one point, I honestly felt that we were being treated differently from other guests, as we were the ones repeatedly approached and reprimanded while other guests were also wearing cotton clothing in the pool. This made me question whether there was discriminatory treatment involved.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially as we had visited the hotel several times before. The way the situation was handled was unnecessary and extremely upsetting.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and reviews how guests are approached and spoken to by staff. Respect and professionalism should always come first.

From the moment we arrived, we received a warm and welcoming service. A special thank you to Ms Marie, who was exceptionally attentive to our needs and made sure we felt comfortable throughout our stay. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail truly made a difference.
The food was also excellent, with a great selection and very good quality. The rooms were clean and there’s nothing to complain about. We would also like to commend the entire staff for their friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism. Everyone was welcoming and always ready to assist with a smile.
Overall, it was a lovely experience, and we truly appreciated the hospitality. Thank you to the whole team at Domaine de Grand Baie for making our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to coming back!

The hotel has a warm, welcoming, and relaxing atmosphere. The surroundings are pleasant, and the overall ambience makes you feel comfortable and at ease throughout your stay.
The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and well maintained & had everything needed for a pleasant and relaxing stay.
Overall, I had a great experience and would happily recommend this hotel to others. I would definitely consider staying here again.
We had such a lovely stay at Domaine de Grand Baie. Everything was really nice, but what made our stay even more special was the amazing service we received from the F&B team.
