The hotel lies on a private beachfront estate known as Balaclava along Turtle Bay, ideally located between Port Louis (12 km) and Grand Bay (12 km), on the north-west coast, which is known for its good climate. New trunk roads provide easy access to the hotel. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is approximately 60 km from the hotel.
This hotel is a luxurious beach resort and spa of the highest international standard, picturesquely framed by a 25-hectare green tropical garden and nature park and flanked by the Indian Ocean. Its remarkable setting overlooks the most enchanting Turtle Bay. The hotel is a perfect blend of tropical and colonial architecture which provides an elegant background for a sophisticated and yet utterly relaxing holiday, thanks to the unequalled multitude of sports and leisure facilities available. Renovated in 2009, this charming beach hotel has a total of 215 guest rooms. The premises are air-conditioned and guests are welcomed in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service. Facilities include a hotel safe, currency exchange, hairdressing salon and a games room. Younger guests can let off steam in the children's playground and kids' club. There is also a bar at the resort. Conference facilities are available to business travellers and all guests can take advantage of the WLAN Internet access provided. Furthermore, room and laundry services are on offer (fees apply). Those guests who are arriving by car may park their vehicle in the hotel's car park. Bicycles can be hired for a fee from the hotel.

While the golfer in the family is out on the course, you can enjoy above-par recreational amenities such as outdoor tennis courts and an outdoor pool. Additional amenities at this Art Deco resort include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and babysitting (surcharge). Getting to nearby attractions is a breeze with the local area shuttle (surcharge) that operates within 12 km.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

From check-in to check-out, everything was absolutely great! All the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the wonderful gestures from everyone. A special thanks to Mr. Deven and Mr. Ajagen from F&B. A big salute to Mr. Roubesh from Anno Restaurant for his excellent service and dedication. And to the shy waitress, Ouma — thank you for being yourself and for your lovely service. 😊 Many thanks also to Mr. Ramkelawon from the kitchen, who completed the puzzle and made the whole experience even more special. All we can say is WOW! Our experience at Maritim’s La Marée was nothing short of exceptional, and it became one of the most memorable parts of our honeymoon and my 30th birthday celebration.
Unfortunately, our honeymoon did not get off to the start we had hoped for. Our flight was cancelled, which meant we lost an entire day at the resort. After all the excitement and anticipation leading up to the trip, it was incredibly disappointing and left us feeling as though our honeymoon had started on the wrong foot.
Then we experienced La Marée.
From the moment we arrived, Davisen and his incredible team completely turned things around for us. Every single member of staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, cared for and genuinely special.
A huge amount of credit has to go to Davisen and his outstanding leadership. He truly leads by example. His warmth, professionalism and attention to detail are reflected throughout his entire team. You can tell that the exceptional level of service at La Maree starts with his leadership. He was present, attentive and genuinely invested in making our experience special and his team clearly follows that example.
Knowing the difficult start we had experienced, they prepared a beautiful candlelit dinner for us right on the beach. After losing a whole day of our honeymoon because of the cancelled flight, this thoughtful gesture meant more to us than they probably realised. They took what had been such a disappointing beginning to our trip and transformed it into an evening we will never forget.
Our waiting staff, Adrian, Abraham and Rakesh were absolutely amazing. They were attentive, warm, friendly and professional throughout the evening. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they had that rare ability to provide exceptional service while making you feel completely relaxed and at home.
The food was equally outstanding. Chef Ramful’s food was impeccable from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavour, from the starter all the way through to the specially prepared birthday dessert. The care, passion and attention that went into the meal were evident in every course.
And just when we thought the evening couldn’t possibly get any better, there was Jean!
Jean absolutely spoiled us with his signature cocktails and his incredible talent for mixology. We trusted him to surprise us with every drink, and somehow each one was exactly what we wanted and needed. His creativity, presentation and passion for his craft made every cocktail an experience of its own.
Davisen, Jean, Adrian, Abraham, Chef Ramful, Mithun, Manoj and the entire La Marée and Maritim team, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We came to celebrate our honeymoon and my 30th birthday, and thanks to all of you, we now have memories that we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
