The Residence Mauritius Coastal Road Belle Mare Mauritius Although only open for 16 years The Residence Mauritius is already considered as one of the jewels of the international hotel scene. Its mile long beach of immaculate white sand fringed by tropical gardens its refined and deliciously nostalgic decor inspired by turn of the century plantation houses. Its butler service surpassing the colonial palaces of yesteryear its exotic and delicate cuisine are only some of the ingredients which have contributed to the hotel success.
Pamper yourself with a visit to the spa, which offers massages, body treatments and facials. You're sure to appreciate the recreational amenities, including an outdoor pool, a sauna and a fitness centre. Additional amenities at this Colonial hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and an arcade/games room.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I am a solo traveller and have had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful hotel on multiple occasions. Even though there are numerous luxury hotels in Mauritius I am always drawn to The Residence. It is located on the east coast along one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. As soon as you walk in to the entrance lobby you notice its stunning architecture with triple height ceilings and magnificent views of the ocean. The hotel is set amongst large beautifully kept gardens and pathways. All the rooms are spacious clean and well equipped as you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
The hotel dining room serves a daily buffet breakfast and themed buffet dinner in the evening. The food is always delicious with plenty of choices including vegetarian or vegan dishes. The dining room itself is magnificent once again with triple height ceilings and views of the ocean from almost every table. It is such a pleasure to have your breakfast here each morning. In addition there is an à la carte dining restaurant The Plantation which is great for seafood and specialties.
Setting aside its perfect location, the superb architecture and great food, what makes this hotel special for me is its wonderful, professional and dedicated staff. Each and every member of the staff takes genuine pride in making your stay a perfect and pleasurable experience. The hotel also has a unique butler concept whereby each room has access to services of a dedicated butler to assist with any special requests you may have.

We had a wonderful massage with Asha and Tushika. They were both very friendly, attentive, and professional. The massage was absolutely amazing, very relaxing, and we felt completely comfortable throughout the whole experience.

It was an amazing time we had there. The staff was great and the hotel was so calm, relaxing and clean. And the beach was absolutely amazing and beautiful. We will come back! We recommend the Hotel!
Nice hotel with comfortable set up. Large bedroom, many seating areas, well maintained. Restaurant charges for drinks even though it is half board basis. Beautiful gardens
Having just returned from a fantastic holiday I thought it worthwhile letting everyone know what a fantastic hotel The Residence is.
Located right on the beach at Belle Mare the hotel is around 1 hour from the airport but the drive there is very interesting.
Reception is bright and airy in a French Colonial style. Due to an early flight we had to wait a few hours before getting our room which was the only negative on the holiday however we did get in early and from that point the holiday was perfect.
The bedrooms were spacious and well laid out . We went for the Ocean Front Terrace option which was incredibly well located and had outstanding views.
Each room is allocated a butler who makes sure that everything you might need is provided. A special shout out to Sarlen who helped make the holiday special. Devika the maid was a lovely person and ensured the room was always tidy.
Edward at the pool was a breath of fresh air keeping us topped up with whatever food or drink was necessary. Fantastic swimming pool and direct access to a glorious beach.
I am told the spa was excellent with Divya in particular providing a great service.
We went for the all inclusive package so I am not sure what comes as standard but we were offered snorkelling out by the reef, glass bottom boat, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boards, and a number of other activities at the yacht club.
I could go on but the Residence can be summed up as a great hotel, in a great location with great people. We are very tempted to book again as the holiday was everything we could have hoped for
