The Residence Mauritius Coastal Road Belle Mare Mauritius Although only open for 16 years The Residence Mauritius is already considered as one of the jewels of the international hotel scene. Its mile long beach of immaculate white sand fringed by tropical gardens its refined and deliciously nostalgic decor inspired by turn of the century plantation houses. Its butler service surpassing the colonial palaces of yesteryear its exotic and delicate cuisine are only some of the ingredients which have contributed to the hotel success.
Pamper yourself with a visit to the spa, which offers massages, body treatments and facials. You're sure to appreciate the recreational amenities, including an outdoor pool, a sauna and a fitness centre. Additional amenities at this Colonial hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and an arcade/games room.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is beautifully located, and both the surroundings and our room were very well maintained and clean. The housekeeping service was excellent, as was the service on the beach. Unfortunately, I also have some concerns. Both my wife and I unfortunately suffered from food poisoning after eating meals at the hotel. I am convinced that the food poisoning occurred as a result of food we consumed at the hotel, as we did not eat anywhere outside the hotel during our stay.
Unfortunately, when I raised this issue with the hotel manager, I was told that this was absolutely impossible because, according to her, nobody else at the hotel had suffered from food poisoning. When I suggested that it only takes one contaminated or spoiled item of food, for example a single shrimp, to cause food poisoning, the manager simply shrugged her shoulders. I was not expecting anything extraordinary. I would simply have appreciated hearing a basic expression of concern, such as “I’m sorry” or “We sincerely apologize for what happened.” i believe that when a guest reports such a serious issue, especially one involving their health, the appropriate response should be empathy, concern and an effort to investigate the matter rather than simply dismissing the complaint.
We had a wonderful stay at The Residence Mauritius in Belle Mare. The hotel is beautifully located, perfect for exploring the east coast, with a stunning beach and breathtaking views from our balcony.
What truly makes this hotel special is the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, helpful and always smiling.
A very special mention goes to our butler, Sailen, who took wonderful care of us throughout our stay. He was thoughtful, caring, attentive and always available. His kindness and professionalism really made our stay even more special. Thank you, Sailen!
The spa is also incredible, with therapists who truly have magic hands! A huge thank you to Clina, who gave me an amazing massage and managed to completely release the tension in my back. Thank you to Brinda for her kindness and good advisor .
I would also like to give a special thank you to the pianist who plays in the evenings. His music created such a lovely and elegant atmosphere and made our evenings at the hotel even more enjoyable. It was a beautiful touch that we really appreciated.
The rooms are very comfortable, and the bedding is fantastic. Waking up to the beautiful view from our balcony was also one of the highlights of our stay.
The only small downside would be the prices of the lunch menu and restaurants. We found them quite high, and over several days this can represent a significant additional holiday budget. A more affordable lunch option would make the experience even better.
Apart from that, everything was wonderful. We absolutely loved our stay and do not regret choosing The Residence Mauritius. Thank you to the entire team for making our holiday so special

We are currently staying at the hotel for our honeymoon. On our very first day, we wanted to explore the hotel and find out where the spa was located. That’s when we first met Asha.
She immediately welcomed us with a big smile, kindness and genuine warmth. She took the time to show us around the spa, explain the different facilities and treatments available, and made sure we felt comfortable enjoying the spa at our own pace.
A few days later, we happened to see Asha again near the breakfast area. As warm and friendly as ever, she told us about a special offer on massages. The timing couldn’t have been better, as my husband and I had actually been talking the night before about treating ourselves to a massage during our honeymoon! She gave us great advice, and we decided to book a couples massage.
Our massage was with Asha and Tushika, together in the same room, and it was absolutely wonderful. My husband relaxed so much that he actually fell asleep! As for me, I had experienced painful massages in the past, so I was a little apprehensive, especially when it came to my back, neck and shoulders. But this time, there was no pain at all — only pure relaxation. The back massage was excellent, and the head, neck and shoulder massage was incredibly relaxing. It was actually the first time I truly enjoyed being massaged in these areas.
We also really appreciated all the little details that made the experience so enjoyable: the form beforehand where we could mention our preferences or any areas of discomfort, access to the sauna and steam room, and especially the relaxation room after the massage. We were able to take our time, enjoy some tea or water, and continue relaxing without ever feeling rushed to leave. That was a wonderful touch and something we really appreciated.
A huge thank you to Asha and Tushika for their professionalism, gentleness and kindness. This couples massage will definitely remain one of the beautiful memories of our honeymoon.

Our stay at The Residence Mauritius was nothing short of wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and impeccable hospitality. The staff were exceptionally caring, attentive, and thoughtful throughout our stay, making us feel truly valued and well looked after.
The service was simply outstanding — every detail was handled with such care and professionalism. The food was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious, while the drinks were equally enjoyable and added to the overall experience.
Our bedroom was spacious, elegant, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean, creating a luxurious yet incredibly comfortable atmosphere. The entire hotel and surrounding areas were also exceptionally clean and well maintained. Every amenity we could possibly need was thoughtfully provided. One of my favourite touches was the bath salts provided for the bathtub — such a small detail, yet it made the experience feel even more indulgent and relaxing. 🛁✨
The location was also wonderful, offering a beautiful beachfront setting and a peaceful atmosphere. One particularly memorable sight was watching the horses bathing outside on the beach, which added a unique and charming touch to the experience. 🐎🌊
What truly stood out was the attention to detail and the genuine care from the entire team. It is these little touches that transform a hotel stay into a memorable experience.
