There are just so many reasons to choose the Lux Belle Mare Hotel. The setting is idyllic; it's located on the island's east coast in a quaint fishing village on the banks of the Indian Ocean. The accommodation is wonderful, with traditionally thatched roofs and classic, cool white furniture.
The complex is bordered by a perfect white beach and a lagoon that leads out to the wonderful warm waters of the ocean. There really aren't many more amazing holiday settings than this. The terraces of the junior suites at the Lux Belle Mare look out over the lagoon and gardens. Whether you look out and see the silvery moonlight reflecting in the still pool, or awake to the glimmering sheen of the sun-dappled water, this is heaven.
The facilities are exceptional too. All suites are air conditioned and come with satellite television, phone, minibar, safe, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, and Wi-Fi internet access. Plus, making sure that you get maximum benefit from every night's sleep, the beds have been specially selected for ultimate comfort. (Pool suites and beach suites are also available at a supplement.)

There's a fine selection of bars too, including the laidback Piano Bar and the Café Lux – the organic island blend coffee is something special.

Delightful stay

Our holiday was delightful. This was our second visit to Lux* Belle Mare. The hotel itself is elegant, spacious and our rooms were well maintained.
The staff were friendly and always ready to assist, making our family feel truly welcomed throughout our stay.
The food was delicious, with a variety of cuisines and excellent presentation. We also loved the selection of restaurants and the many activities available, which meant we never had to leave the hotel.
Once again, we had a delightful experience and would highly recommend this hotel to any family looking for a truly exceptional getaway.
Lovely luxurious family holiday with a great kids' club
We recently enjoyed a wonderful six-night stay at LUX* Belle Mare and had a relaxing family holiday. The resort itself is stunning, with a beautiful white sandy beach, a child-friendly pool, and plenty of comfortable sunbeds available by both the beach and pool throughout our stay. The resort itself was of a manageable size and its length could be walked easily.
Our room was spacious, with a large bathroom and direct access from the terrace into the gardens leading straight to the beach, which was perfect. We also enjoyed the complimentary glass-bottom boat ride was included.
The friendliness and attentiveness of many of the dining staff really stood out and made our stay even more enjoyable. We would particularly like to thank Rikesh and Kishan at the Chinese restaurant, Roopesh at the Indian restaurant, and Dave, who thoughtfully had a pot of hot water waiting for me each day at breakfast at Mondo. Jean-Paul, Rohan, Cayshee and Wayne at Mondo also provided exceptional service. At Beach Rouge, Rakesh made every visit a pleasure. A special thank you also goes to Assistant F&B Manager Beelur, along with Chef Nancy, Chef Singh, and Chef Som, who recognised that à la carte vegetarian options could be a bit limited and accommodated alternatives for us.
Our child absolutely loved the kids' club. The activities were varied and engaging, from Mauritian dancing to fruit tasting, and the staff were so warm and caring. Joanna, Usha, Deepa and Ariana all did a wonderful job of making every child feel welcome and entertained.
Our son celebrated his birthday when we were there and thanks to housekeeping for a lovely balloon arrangement and the Indian restaurant for providing a special birthday cake.
We'd also like to thank Vikram, one of the porters, for his friendly and helpful service.
The only area that could be improved was housekeeping and front desk service, which was a little inconsistent. Eg. a few occasions towels were missing or the number of towels changed from day to day, bottles of water or toiletry items weren't replenished, and a pram we had requested to be collected remained outside our room. We also found the front desk a little dismissive on arrival when we were told to check ourselves whether our pram was there (it wasn't) or whether our room was ready rather than being updated proactively. These were relatively small issues and didn't take away from what was otherwise an excellent stay. Thanks to manager Asha for trying to resolve the points.
Overall, LUX* Belle Mare met our expectations. The beautiful surroundings, fantastic kids' club, and genuine hospitality from many of the staff made for a memorable holiday. We would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a family-friendly stay in Mauritius. We went during low season and it was particularly good value then.
A Wonderful Week at LUX Belle Mare*
Our stay at LUX Belle Mare* as a family was truly wonderful, and we were extremely satisfied with every aspect of our holiday.
The rooms were spotless, and the entire staff was attentive, friendly, and always willing to help. If you visit the lobby bar, be sure to try the excellent coffees prepared by Bilal. He is incredibly welcoming, helpful, and always greets guests with a smile, making every visit a pleasant experience.
At dinner, we highly recommend the outstanding dishes prepared by Ahmad. Don't miss the hummus and marinated olives from the salad section—they were absolutely delicious. We also strongly recommend trying his Middle Eastern specialties, which were among the highlights of our culinary experience.
The hotel is exceptionally comfortable for families. The Kids Club activities, the spa facilities, and the family-friendly atmosphere make it an excellent choice for those traveling with children. Combined with its stunning beach, beautiful natural surroundings, and outstanding level of service, LUX* Belle Mare offers a truly memorable vacation.
There are, however, two areas where we believe the guest experience could be improved. Even with the all-inclusive package, guests are asked to sign a bill after every meal or every order placed at the bar, where they also have the option to add a gratuity. While we understand the purpose of this process, it can become repetitive throughout the day. Considering LUX*'s strong commitment to sustainability and innovation, we believe there should be a more seamless solution—perhaps as simple as using a wristband or another digital identification method—to eliminate the need for repeatedly signing receipts. Secondly, Mauritius is quite far from many countries, so providing support for late check-out is especially important for families traveling with children. The hotel kindly allowed us to continue enjoying the facilities until our flight time and also provided us with a private shower room before our departure. We truly appreciated these thoughtful gestures. However, while this level of support may be sufficient for young couples, it is often not enough for families with children. In my opinion, the hotel could consider offering a little more flexibility and special consideration for families in this regard.
Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and would happily recommend LUX* Belle Mare to families looking for a luxurious, relaxing, and child-friendly destination.
