We arrived about 9.30am, were greeted and told to go and get ourselves some breakfast. Coffe was brought to us but we helped ourselves to the rest of the buffet food. After breakfast we were shown to a room to change and freshen up. The receptionist then said she'd check if our room was ready and it was! She took us to our room which was one of the refurbed rooms, ground floor and had a sea view. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool and along the edge of the grounds looking over the beach. Mealtimes, at the buffet, we were greeted and shown to our table. A waiter woukd bring us drinks. We ate in the Italian restaurant a couple of times - this has to be booked about 2 days before, using the QR code outside the restaurant. You can use this restaurant, without booking, at lunchtimes. We didn't use the beach restaurant as we didn't really fancy the lunchtime offerings. Evening meals there seemed to be payable and we were quite happy with the buffet. The food offered a lot of currys and stews, fish, chicken etc. One day there was roast beef which was quite tasty. There was usually pizza if you didn't fancy anything else. At breakfast there was a really lovely female cook making omeletes and fried eggs etc to order. She was so smiley and cheerful! Waiters came round the sunbeds taking drink orders. About 3pm tea, coffee, pancakes and sandwiches were put out in the bar area in case you were peckish. We booked the 5 Island trip with Chris who comes around the pool every day. I can recomend this trip. About 12 of us in a speedboat. BBQ lunch on the beach, vanilla rum and coke on the boat and snorkelling. Take some bananas to feed the monkeys! We also saw a turtle, dolphins and a waterfall. We also booked a taxi at the hotel to take us to see a temple, Black River Gorges, Chamarel Waterfall and Chamarel 7 coloured earth. The driver stayed with us and we paid on return to the hotel. He stopped at a restaurant so that we could have some lunch. Lovely trip and nice to see some of the sights. On checkout day we booked a time slot for the hospitality room (½ hour slots from 3pm onwards) so that we could change before the long flight home. The staff at this hotel are all so friendly and attentive. They were always asking if we were ok and if there were any problems. We once mentioned that the shower took FOREVER to come through hot and they took this really seriously and said they'd investigate. All in all, we had a fabulous holiday. The pool view and out to sea is absolutely stunning. We didn't want to leave. The staff are fantastic and deserve praise.
