- Ambre A Sun Resort

Ambre - a Sun Resort Mauritius is a chic hotel with some fabulous amenities. Sleek, modern décor, irresistible beach location and exceptional spa, swimming pool and restaurants, it's worth every one of its four stars.
There are so many highlights... the incredible 750-metre long white sandy beach is breath-taking. The sheltered bay of warm azure water is beguiling. Then there's the tropical lagoon. And the spa, and so much natural beauty at every turn.
The Ambre Mauritius plays its part too. It's a beautiful looking hotel. You'll see that in lots of ways - the incredible swimming pool and the stylish Coral Bar for example. But you'll see it in smaller ways too: in every perfectly chosen feature and detail in every room.
And talking of the rooms... Rooms are air-conditioned with a balcony or terrace. In-room facilities include flat-screen satellite tv, safe, minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, hairdryer and FREE Wi-Fi. Each room has a welcome surprise from dreamy bathrooms to cocktails kits also a farewell gift of a freshly baked cookie. A selection of room upgrades is available for a supplement.
Equal attention is given to the amenities you'll enjoy throughout the hotel. From the tennis courts to the fitness centre to the spa. And the restaurants are exceptional. Each has its own look and style; each will tempt you with some of the best flavours Mauritian gastronomy has to offer.
This really is a resort where your needs come first. So make the most of your stay; make the most of Mauritius.
The 4-star Ambre, a Sun Resort Mauritius, located on the east coast of the island at Palmar, is a chic, adults-only hotel with an irresistible beachfront location and exceptional spa, swimming pool and restaurants. The hotel boasts an incredible 750-metre long white sandy beach which runs along a sheltered bay, perfect for swimming, whilst divers can explore the diverse sea life in the adjacent tropical lagoon.

The spa is beautiful and peaceful. I was able to enjoy an Ayurvedic massage and a facial treatment with Bursha who is not only an excellent therapist but also very kind. ✨️ A huge thank you to all the amazing staff at Ambre Hotel Sunlife Mauritius for the warmest welcome and outstanding hospitality. A special shoutout to Nicoletta at reception, Vinessen at the bar, and to Shane, Ramphul, and Steph for serving the best cocktails🍸 and other staff for making my birthday beautifully guys.
Thank you all for making my day so special. You truly are an incredible team, and I can't wait to see you again soon! ❤️ I highly recommend this hotel and good services.
The staff at this hotel deserve 5 stars. They make this place what it is. Everyone from the maintenance/cleaning team, to the management to the F&B team go out of their way to make sure guests are happy. Frequent check in's to ask if they can do anything to make your stay better. They may not always get everything right but the staff are a credit to the brand. I want to give special mentions to: Jat from the beach team - everyday efficient and friendly service. Remembering our drinks order and ensuring we were 100% happy. Arvin, Pascaline, Siham, Hussein, Ifraz and Jeet - unsung hero's of the F&B team. Always a smile, always working hard. Vanessa from the reception team made us feel very welcome Juanito - omelettes and eggs to order with a smile and a chat everyday. Not strictly part of the hotel but Danesh the shuttle bus driver was brilliant.
This hotel is 4 stars and equivalent to 4 stars we have been to in the Caribbean. Some of the rooms need TLC for sure but why does that matter when you have a beach that looks like the one at Ambre!
The food is not overly abundant in the buffet there are not huge numbers of dishes on offer but there is plenty to choose from and we did not have a bad meal in either the buffet or the a la cartes. The grilled fish and curries were a highlight and the desserts were delightful. Lots of things being freshly cooked. Chefs on hand to ask and to encourage you to try a new dish.
The drinks varied enormously and we fed this back whilst we were there. Sometime cocktails were made with the wrong ingredients or contained minimal alcohol. when we fed back, things improved. Similarly with the wine. The basic AI wine is not very good. When I asked to see someone from F&B about this I was given a tasting of several other wines that are included in the AI but these tend to be served in the a la cartes - you just have to ask an they will find you your drink of choice wherever you are eating/drinking.
The included water activities are great. The entertainment/sport team were lovely but do play a very competitive game of beach volley ball! My teen loved it but its not for the fainthearted!
The beach locations is incredible. White sand and clear sea. Lots of fish close to the shore and a turtle you can swim/kayak out to see.
I highly recommend a trip on the free shuttle to Ile Aux Cerfs even if you are not playing golf. The beach there is stunning. The hospitality at the golf club was excellent. Lovely lunch with a beer included. The golf course is outstanding. Take lots of balls - its very tricky.
All in all we had an amazing time. I would give 4.5 stars if I could. Had the room been updated and the issues with the drinks not been there it would be a 5.
I had a mauritian 90min massage at Glow with Joyce. It was amazing, so blissful, relaxing and relieved all my tension.
