I recently had the misfortune of staying at My Ella Bodrum Hotel, and I have to say, honestly, it was one of the most horrendous experiences of my life. It baffles me how this establishment could ever be rated as a 5 star hotel! it’s nothing short of a disgrace. 

The entire place is a cesspool of filth, with dirt and grime caked onto every surface. The air conditioning was completely useless, turning our room into an unbearable sauna, and making sleep next to impossible.

The pool? Absolutely revolting. I wouldn’t let my worst enemy take a dip in that murky, bacteria ridden swamp. As for the wifi, it was practically non existent constantly dropping out, rendering it impossible to stay connected to the outside world.

And don’t even get me started on the food. The limited options were laughable, the quality was abysmal, and the hygiene was shockingly bad. We found ourselves dodging swarms of mosquitoes while trying to eat in the so called “alacart” dining area, which only added to the nightmare.

Can you believe a 5 star hotel where the climate system is non functional? We called them repeatedly, but they simply couldn’t be bothered to fix it. The lack of basic cleanliness, the total disregard for comfort, and the complete absence of essential amenities made this stay an utter disaster. Adding insult to injury, there was absolutely no entertainment or animation of any kind.

I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. Do yourself a favour and just AVOID this place like the plague. There wasn’t a single good thing about this hotel.

Beautiful hotel

I had the misfortune of staying at this place with my family, stay away if you’re expecting an actual 5 Star experience and PLEASE READ this if you are still considering booking!

* not 5 star, not even up to 4*

* No food on arrival unlike every other 5 star in Turkey 

* Day 1 they Gave us a room which was a small double for 3 of us and crammed a folding bed at the foot of the main bed which meant there was no space to move around. Luckily I had to move rooms anyway to be closer to my elderly parent’s room. 

* Zero information given to you like other hotels, you are just given your hotel key and expected to figure it out yourself. When I asked he told me it’s all on your room key holder. All it has are mealtimes on it 

* Nobody said we could book the a la carte and only found out the day before leaving it was included with our stay. However from what I could see we would have been disappointed anyway.

* Run down, old and needs renovation. Toilets are dirty and old 

* 3* quality food and drink. Cheap spirits and vinegar for wine.

* Hygiene in restaurant isn’t great with lots of flies around landing on food. 

* Poolside is a health and safety issue, all loungers crammed together with no space and many of they broken with rusty screws sticking out.

* Be prepared to become a smoker whilst you’re there, your kids too. Loungers are so close together and the people there just smoke with zero care about non smokers next to them.

* Day 1 the animation team placed water polo goals in front of our loungers whilst we were on them and proceeded to play water polo with the ball being hurled at my kids and me!

* No activities for kids, when my children asked to play one of the games they were told this round is adults then kids after. Once adults finished they packed up and said it’s over. Basically lied to my kids to get rid of them. 

* Lifeguards not to be seen at times 

* Wasps and hornets around the pool area.

* Animation team playing songs during the day swearing using the N word with kids around 

* Full of Turkish locals who get preferential treatment and prices. 

* My boys were told to get out of the indoor pool as kids not allowed then minutes later a Turkish family arrive and their daughter was allowed in the pool! 

* Hardly any English speaking staff 

* A lot of rude staff (not all but many of them on reception. Some F&B staff are very nice like Musa and Ahmet (Jimmy).

* Beware of Gursan the crook from Inovasyon travel agency who poses as you “rep” allegedly on behalf of your agent from the UK. Hotel is probably selling him your details. He’s a thief charging you ridiculous prices claiming it’s best to book the hotel and him so you are safe. He overcharged me and I ended up being put on one of the boat trips with a cheaper (less safe) provider because he messed up the pick up points and times. On top of that I had to pay from my own taxi back to the hotel when it was already paid for in my ticket because the company he fobbed me off to said it wasn’t their responsibility to drop me back as we’re not their customer. He became rude when I confronted him so had to put the little weasel back in his box! Do not give this man a penny! Go and see Eddy on the beach and he will do you a good deal. 

* Rooms not serviced and we keep having to ask

* No proper shower gel just a cheap shower gel dispenser in the shower hay you find in a Travelodge. No shampoo, conditioner or body moisturiser which is not unreasonable to expect at a 5 star. 

* My elderly dad fell backwards on the floor in the lobby because the chair was broken. He’s 81 and nearly cracked his head open. The chair has since been removed so I have no photo.

* Entertainment is limited and nothing on Sunday because it’s the animation team’s day off? For a 5* hotel look at the poor quality stage area with no proper seating for guests to watch any shows.

* My son cut his finger on the table tennis table which has sharp laminate peeling off.

* Stray cats walking around, even in the restaurant so be careful if you don’t like cats. 

* Was sold a pair of goggles in the shop for €15 euros when they are literally Poundland googles. Fine as it’s a hotel but when I brought them back I had to argue with them to exchange them and even had to pay another €10 for a better pair which hurts my kids eyes and still leaks.

* Constantly being harassed by hotel workers trying to sell massages, activities, trips, photos.

* Man walking around with parrot asking if people want a photo with it. Parrot bit one of the guests!

* Final straw for me was my kids paid €10 deposit to play pool. On 2 occasions they had staff members come in the pool room and take the cues off them to start playing. The 2nd time one of the staff broke the cue by hitting the ball hard and when my kids brought the balls & cues back to reception, the receptionist refused to give them their deposit back even though my children explained it was their staff. I had to literally kick off with them to get them to check their own cameras only for me to be proven right when I was basically called a liar to begin with. I lost a whole 45 minutes arguing in reception whilst some of the staff were laughing and talking about me in Turkish.

There’s so much more I could say but this is not worth the money and you’re better off going elsewhere, especially if you are a foreign tourist!

STAY AWAY! READ THIS ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE A BRITISH OR FOREIGN TOURIST!

Great holiday

I don’t know what happened with this hotel.. we’ve been there last year and it was good.. now it all changed..First of all all,they don’t clean the rooms..I was on the reception tvice,I gave a tip to a woman who cleans,but our room was dirty for almost 14 days.. Then I call my agency,and then they reacted.. but I thought they were angry because of that…There is no animation for children,just few songs and that’s it… People who are selling massages,photographers and people who are selling water activities things,they are litterally stalking people..If I want to go on massage,,I will go on massage,I don’t need Ali to stalking on me 100 times per day.. hellooo,it’s too much..This is not 5 star hotel,I don’t think they care about guests,as I said before,the previous year was much,much better.. I will go to Türkiye again,off course,but not in My Ella..
