The hotel is located on the beach in the centre of Gumbet with local transport passing in front of the property on a regular basis and a taxi stand situated nearby. The cosmopolitan resort of Bodrum, with its large yacht marina and the impressive St Peter's Castle, are both approximately 3 km away and are definitely worth a visit. There are numerous restaurants, bars, clubs and shops not far from the establishment. Two family-run hotels are combined and operating as a single complex. Their facilities include a common dining room, a charming café and a la carte restaurant. There is a good selection of sports and recreation activities and the complex also offers wireless Internet access in the lobby area. The rooms have tiled floors and are equipped with a satellite TV and individually regulated air conditioning.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I honestly don’t even know where to begin. This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.
The problems started before we even arrived. We had arranged an airport transfer directly with the hotel, provided our flight details and number of guests, and received written confirmation from the Guest Relations Manager that the transfer was confirmed. When we arrived, nobody was there. We waited outside the airport for more than 30 minutes in the heat with our two very young children, including a baby. We called the hotel several times and nobody answered, so eventually we had to take a taxi ourselves. When we arrived at the hotel and explained what happened, they denied that the transfer had ever been booked, despite us having the confirmation in writing.
Unfortunately, things only got worse.
The room was extremely dirty. The bathroom was old, worn out and looked as though it had not been renovated in decades. The floors were dirty, and the snack/bar area was absolutely filthy — even the chairs were disgustingly dirty. The overall level of cleanliness was unbelievable.
The food was terrible. The oil they were using to fry the food and meat looked extremely old and heavily reused. Just looking at it made us uncomfortable eating anything that had been fried in it.
On top of everything, there was no Wi-Fi in our room.
We had booked and paid a significant amount of money for a 7-night family holiday, but after ONE NIGHT we decided to leave. We knew when we made that decision that there was a very high chance we would not get our money back, but we simply could not imagine staying there for another six nights, especially with two very young children. We preferred to lose the money rather than continue our holiday under those conditions. I think that alone says everything.
When we left, we were told to address the refund through the agency we had booked with. We did exactly that. However, when our agency contacted the hotel regarding a refund for the six unused nights, the hotel denied the issues we had raised and refused to refund us ANY amount. We paid for seven nights, stayed for only one, and received nothing back for the remaining six nights.
What made the experience even more disappointing was the way everything was handled afterwards. Instead of acknowledging our concerns or trying to find any reasonable solution, they simply denied what had happened.
After leaving, I started looking much more carefully through the reviews online, and I was shocked to see how many other guests had complained about similar issues. I genuinely regret not researching the hotel and reading deeper into the reviews before booking. Had I done so, I would never have chosen this hotel for my family.
Nobody leaves an expensive, prepaid 7-night holiday after ONE NIGHT, knowing they may lose all their money, unless the situation is bad enough that staying is simply not an option.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel and i would suggest for everybody to avoid it.
You cannot fault the staff and the meals, the room how ever is a different matter, we arrived at midnight to be taken to our room (3 of us) to find one double bed, had to ask for another bed and after 45 minutes someone arrived with a pillow and a sheet and made up "the chair" that was in the room, my bed, as my granddaughter wouldn't sleep on it, I am only 5'4 but even then from my knees down were hanging off the end. Was told we could request a change of room the next day at an extra cost of 20 euros a night but they were full and didn't have anything else. We eventually afte a couple of nights all ended up in the double bed, not really ideal. I feel the hotel has been built as 3 separate hotels so lots of walking is involved. We won't be returning.
We stayed at Park Ayim in Bodrum for a week with friends, and overall we had a really lovely week. The weather was amazing, and the hotel is in a great location, right by the beach. There are plenty of shops directly in front of the hotel, and the local bus was super cheap and easy to use for getting into town.
The hotel has three pools, and we never struggled to find a sunbed, which was a big bonus. The water slide was also so much fun! A special mention to Arda, the lifeguard, who was great and really added to the experience.
The food was average overall, although some days were definitely better than others. There was a good range of choices, so there was always something to find. Drinks were fine, although we would have liked to see more of the usual cocktails available. There also wasn't an option to pay extra for branded alcohol.
The entertainment was mainly lots of dancing. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed with the entertainment on our final night. What started as Turkish dancing became quite uncomfortable when one of the performers, who we initially thought was part of the Turkish dance show, turned into a stripper and started expecting money from guests. This wasn't really what we expected and made the atmosphere quite awkward.
The cleaning could also have been better. We often had to ask for fresh towels, as our existing ones were simply folded up rather than replaced.
That said, the facilities were good, the location was excellent, and overall we had a great week with our friends. There were a few things that could be improved, but we still came away having enjoyed our holiday.
The Hotel grounds were very pretty with all the gardens and the location to the beach was lovely. The rooms were absolutely awful. Mouldy showers balcony faced out to 2 walls had no view felt like youwas in a little prison sell as rooms were so tiny,the main Restaurant food was awful same thing every day, never got hot food-lukewarm .snack bar was better if you had a pizza or burger as it was freshly cooked and it is normally hot. Chips were normally cold unless you had them just out of the Fryer , entertainment wasn’t great entertainment like a disco for children from 9 to 9:30 , after that you are-crammed into a small area with a tiniest bit of room for entertainment which in the end we didn’t bother going cause it was so diabolical the drinks they were okay cocktails all tasted the same, someone I knew took their cocktail back to her room had a shower came out and the cocktail had gone all gooey like syrup, God knows what they put in it, I just stuck to peach snaps with Ice that was the only decent thing to drink, the waffle bar is nice hot warm waffles with chocolate sauce banana or strawberries with whatever ice cream you like on top. Also there is a crepe bar ,which is nice, there is a à la Car fish restaurant if you like fish or there is a nice Italian restaurant, which food was really, really nice .the nightlife outside the hotel was right opposite the entrance with music belting out to 3 am in the morning but we was lucky we never heard any of it a few karaoke bars ,unfortunately Turkey is not as cheap as it used to be prices for drinks about the same as back home in England there’s a nice Chinese restaurant if you go outside the hotel turn wright does Indian and sushi really really good worth trying got great reviews, has a mini bus outside the hotel which pulls up every 15 minutes and takes you into bodrum . It’s about a 30 minute drive a couple of quid each or a taxi which is probably about four or £5. Would I go back again no ,I stayed in. Hotel last year in Marmaris the blue Bay platinum which is a four star it should’ve been a five because it was spotless and the food was fantastic. I would rate the Parkin as a 3 star Hotel.
Overal the hotel is ok. The location is good with direct access to the beach and a variety of local shops as well as a large selection of freshly cooked food. However, our room was two stories above the pool/games room and there was constant loud banging and shouting until the early hours most days. This seriously effected our holiday as we were unable to sleep. The check out is at 12pm. At 11.50am whilst completing a final check of our room we had 2 phone calls from reception to ensure we were leaving. At 11.55am someone came to our door to escort us from our room. This felt heavy handed, unnecessary and left a really bad last impression on our holiday. This was the 2nd time we had stayed at this hotel and it will certainly be our last.
