I was staying at Kahya Resort Aqua & Spa with my family when I witnessed something on the night of 4 August that I still cannot get out of my head.
I do not know what happened before the incident or what caused it. I can only describe what I personally saw with my own eyes.
I saw several people using extreme force against a male guest.
What shocked me first was the use of a fire hose. The force of the water was used to push him to the ground, and water was sprayed directly into his face and mouth at close range. From where I was standing, he appeared to be struggling to breathe, yet it continued.
I saw him being hit repeatedly.
I saw his arms being forced so far behind his back that I genuinely thought they were going to break at any moment.
I also saw hands around his neck. From what I could see, it looked like he was being choked.
The man was screaming in pain. At one point, I saw someone literally put a hand into or over his mouth, apparently trying to silence him while he was screaming.
And it did not simply stop once he was restrained. From what I witnessed, the violence continued while he was being taken away.
I saw people who appeared to be soldiers or security personnel striking him. I saw people laughing. I also saw hotel employees taking photographs while this was happening.
I was in shock.
I cannot describe it in another way. It looked like something from a horror film.
I was standing there on holiday with my family watching a man being pushed to the ground with the force of a fire hose, sprayed directly in the face and mouth, repeatedly hit, held around the neck and having his arms forced so far behind him that I thought they might break.
I have no idea what happened before this.
I do not know what the man had done or what words had been exchanged. At some point he started shouting and swearing, I think, although I could not understand what he was saying.
But I know what I saw.
Whatever happened beforehand, witnessing this level of violence at a holiday resort was horrifying.
The experience affected me so much that the following morning I packed our belongings, took my family and left.
We stayed only two days.
At first, I tried to overlook the other disappointments and enjoy the swimming pool and make the best of our holiday. But after witnessing this, there was no doubt left in my mind. I wanted my family out of there as quickly as possible.
The resort itself was also nothing like I expected from the photos shown online. I do not know how old those photos are, but in my experience the reality looked very different.
The hotel is presented as all-inclusive, yet I was surprised by how many things could still cost extra inside the resort.
The beach was another major disappointment. I saw a lot of plastic and waste around parts of the beach and sea. Some of it looked unsafe to me, which was one reason I preferred staying around the swimming pool.
I also found the atmosphere unpleasant. Many guests appeared heavily intoxicated, loud and disruptive. It did not feel like the relaxing family holiday I thought I was paying for.
During my stay, I also noticed that a large number of guests appeared to be Israeli. I mention this simply because it was a noticeable part of the guest mix during my stay.
What I cannot understand is how the online reviews and promotional photos can create such a different impression from what I personally experienced.
I think honest negative reviews are being removed.
After seeing the reality myself, I seriously question whether the ratings people see online give travellers the full picture.
This is not what I spend my money on when I take my family on holiday.
I had heard stories from family and friends about bad experiences in Türkiye before, but I never expected to witness something like this myself.
It has genuinely made me question whether I would feel comfortable returning to Türkiye.
Again, I do not know what happened before the violence started. I am not claiming to know who was right or wrong in whatever happened beforehand.
I am only describing what I personally witnessed.
And what I witnessed was horrifying.
Other guests see these things too. We remember them. And they affect whether we feel safe bringing our families back.
The following morning, I took my family and left Kahya Resort Aqua & Spa.
I would not return.
Very good hotel , hamza is the best guy. He is nice with kids. And make good cocktails. Aziz is also a good cocktail maker.

We had a great time in Kahya hotel, especially with Yana and Lina are the best animation team!
At this point, it is no longer even about what you say in your response. My husband has already taken this matter further and an investigation is ongoing. There will be a case, and he will pursue his rights through the appropriate official channels.
You say that the safety and well-being of your guests are your highest priority. My husband was also your guest. His safety should have mattered just as much as anyone else's.
You had no idea who he was. He was simply a guest in your country, yet he was treated as though his rights did not matter. He reported that his belongings and money were missing and raised serious concerns about what happened to him that night. Instead of cooperation, he experienced resistance from the hotel and from people who were supposed to help him.
You cannot say that guest safety is your highest priority while at the same time dismissing his reports that he was assaulted, that his belongings went missing, that he had concerns about what he had been given to drink, and that he was denied access to the most important CCTV footage. Your own response contradicts your words.
The police told him to wait there, while the hotel manager was doing everything possible to get him removed. He was only shown a limited part of the CCTV footage. The footage he did see did not support what you are now claiming happened. The footage covering the most important moments was not shown to him.
Now you talk about "objective evidence", but you provide no explanation of what that evidence actually shows. My husband has given specific details that can be checked and investigated. If you have the evidence you claim to have, preserve it and provide the complete, original and unedited footage to the authorities. They can determine what actually happened.
If guest safety truly comes first, then his safety, his belongings and his right to have what happened properly investigated should have mattered too.
We are no longer interested in convincing you or arguing with the hotel online. If you refuse to cooperate, fine. This will be pursued through the official channels.
My response here is mainly for the people reading these reviews and assuming that the hotel's replies automatically represent the truth. From the moment we arrived, what we experienced did not match what was advertised or promised.
After our experience there, I even question how some of these positive reviews are obtained and whether they genuinely represent independent guest experiences. I cannot prove where those reviews come from, but after what we experienced, I personally have serious doubts.
And my advice goes beyond this hotel. I personally would not go back to Alanya. The sea where we were staying was full of plastic, we experienced aggressive behaviour, and some of the prices were absurd for Turkey. In some situations it felt like we were paying more than we would in Amsterdam.
If you want to experience what Turkey itself has to offer and safety is important to you, I would choose somewhere else.
My husband's experience with the local authorities made everything even worse. I cannot imagine calling the authorities where we live and then having an officer insult him because they assume he does not understand their language. The words used were so offensive that I do not even want to repeat them here.
We were there together as a family. Do you seriously believe my husband would intentionally behave in a way that could put his own family in danger?
You do not have to believe our review and you do not have to do anything with it. I do not expect that anymore. I am sharing what we experienced so other people can make their own decision.
For us, this discussion ends here. What happened will be dealt with through the appropriate official channels. Other travellers can read both sides, look at the facts, and decide for themselves whether this is somewhere they want to take their family.
