Akdora Resort and Spa Hotel

Our stay at this hotel was unfortunately very disappointing, not because we expected luxury, but because the reality was completely different from what was advertised on Booking.com.

The biggest issue is the enormous gap between the hotel's presentation online and the actual experience. The photos and description create the impression of a well-maintained property with various facilities and activities, but this was simply not our experience.

One example is the advertised activities. The listing mentions facilities such as table tennis and billiards, yet neither of them exists at the hotel. When we asked about them, we were told to go to other hotels or nearby restaurants if we wanted to play. This felt misleading, as these amenities were one of the reasons we chose this property.

The food was another major disappointment. The menu was almost identical every day, with very little variety, and unfortunately the quality was poor. After only a short stay, every meal felt repetitive and unappetizing.

The water supply was also a constant problem. During our five-night stay, there was only one day when the water worked normally. The rest of the time, it was either only freezing cold or only extremely hot, making it impossible to shower comfortably.

Communication was difficult because almost no one on the staff spoke English well enough to help us with even simple questions or problems.

The room itself also did not meet basic expectations. It appeared to have been cleaned only superficially, while the corners and less visible areas were noticeably dirty. The air conditioner was broken, running for only a few minutes before shutting itself off repeatedly, leaving the room uncomfortably warm. The toilet seat was also broken and detached from its hinges.

Overall, this hotel feels much cheaper and much less maintained than it appears in its online listing. The problem is not that the hotel is modest. The problem is that what is advertised and what guests actually receive are two very different things.

We paid a significant amount expecting the experience shown in the photos and described in the listing. Instead, we found a hotel with misleading amenities, poor maintenance, inconsistent basic services, and conditions that did not justify the price.

I hope this review helps future guests make an informed decision. If the listing accurately reflected the hotel's current condition, everyone could choose based on realistic expectations. Unfortunately, in our experience, the difference between appearance and reality was simply too great to ignore.

Our room wasn't too bad. We had air conditioning, kettle and fridge, no spoons though just wooden sticks and no cups just paper cups. Shower wasn't so good it just tickled out but they did come and change the shower head and the shower was fantastic then and could get a good shower. Cleaners were lovely and kept it clean. Balcony was tiny you couldn't fit 2 people on it even though it had a small table and 2 chairs due to the door. Probably if it had a sliding door you would of been able to sit on there. We paid extra for sea view which I was glad we did as we had quite a nice room. Someone I spoke to had a very small room near the stage area, no fridge, no kettle, tiny shower and no curtains on the windows but was told that was budget room , they did get moved and the room they got was better. Bar staff inside the hotel very rude, even if you said please and thank you they glared at you, snatched your drinks off you etc. The main guy at reception I really liked him he was a little bit quiet but he did look very tired as they do all work hard and he did smile at us when we came back to the hotel at gone 2 am and whenever we walked past him (I don't think he could speak a lot of English). The restaurant staff are lovely and the guy at the bar near the pool Food though was awful , I only ate 1 full meal the whole week. I didn't eat breakfast at all. Salads were mainly mixed salads at first which I didn't like as they use a lot of dill herbs, then then did put separate salads out. A lot of aubergines,spinach in something, mushrooms in a sauce with small meatballs and then next day same thing but with sliced meatloaf. Pasta, rice, bulgar wheat. More or less same food every day. They did a BBQ one night which was lovely this was my first meal I ate. Lots of sweets which my friends ate. Cocktails I didn't like there, we mainly had vodka which we would have a couple before we went out. It seems that most of the hotels in the area are full of Russians and cater for the Russians and Germans, as most of the people I spoke to complained about the food. What can I say a lot of the Russians were rude and arrogant never said excuse me or sorry and stared at us English. There are a few nice hotels near the beach but the majority are not so near the beach, this is why we chose this hotel. I didn't see a lot of cats near the hotel just one or 2 but it didn't bother us as we are cat people. The cats (wild) in the area are very looked after and loved. We got cartons of water from the pool bar to take to our room to drink there was also a cold hot water dispenser. The hotel tbh wasn't to bad, maybe a bit worn in places like the settees in the reception area but you get what you pay for and it didn't bother me. We used it as a base and just spent the morning at the pool and after lunch went to the beach. We had the discovery jeep safari which was a fantastic day. Spent every night at the sky alremu restaurant and bar, we had a couple of meals there and the guys who work there are fantastic. The doner kebab shop opposite the hotel did fantastic wraps, we had the chicken wraps, best I've ever had and they are cheap. Would I go again to this hotel, I probably would as a base again but wouldn't eat the food as we didn't like it. I would also want the room I had or one near the pool
