Club Aqua Plaza Hotel

We had an amazing stay at Club Aqua Plaza Hotel! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The food was delicious with plenty of options every day, and the facilities were well maintained.

A special thank you to the animation team! They were energetic, welcoming, and made every day so much fun. Their activities and evening shows were entertaining for both adults and children, and they always made everyone feel included. They truly created a wonderful atmosphere and made our holiday unforgettable.

We highly recommend Club Aqua Plaza Hotel and can’t wait to come back!

The stay at this hotel was very successful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the location is right on the beautiful beach, the food is good, the hotel is convenient for excursions, the animators are great, I recommend it

We booked this hotel over a year in advance, it had good reviews at the time then slowly across the year we started worrying, the reviews became very mixed but mainly on the negative side which made us worried, now we know we should have listened!

When we arrived at 1am, the first disappointment was we were told the two separate rooms we booked (being a family with 2 teenagers so we wanted two rooms) one of them had no air con, their story is that there was an electrical problem in the main building and lots of people had complained about no air con in rooms but they could offer us a family room. With it being nearly 40degrees, we couldn’t be without air con and sleep comfortably. The family rooms are at the side of the aqua park, seeings as it was late, dark and presented with no other choice, we had to accept. We now believe they had overbooked the rooms and there was no issue with air con.

Anyway. the kids beds are at the front of the room which is just so strange, why would you have kids in the entrance to the room and not the bedroom at the back with a door so adults can then relax on patio area in the evening?! Secondly the room is falling apart, there is a shelf in main bedroom with 4 drawers, the drawers don’t shut because the shelf is so bent in the middle where it’s about to fall off that the drawers no longer shut straight, the shower head fell off completely whilst I was in the shower and fell to the floor, managed to move my foot just in time, during our time in the room, the ceiling of the shower peeled off and fell on the shower floor, was never cleaned up, the room was dirty and we were given stained towels on cleaning days and constantly given only 3 despite there being 4 of us so we always had to go to the cleaning cupboard to get another one. We asked reception twice to unlock the safe to put our passports in, nobody shows up, we asked for a blanket for my step daughter, nobody shows up. They always say yes at reception then don’t write anything down and they don’t do anything as a follow up action. We had other peoples swimwear left in our room, ice creams still in the freezer, just had a dirty feel to it! No clothes hangers in one of the wardrobes and can’t even remove them from the other wardrobe either. The net at the front of the family room is ripped and doesn’t close properly, aswell as the net and curtains inside the room, they are too short to be closed properly too.

Second disappointment was we were told there is a sandwich buffet late at night for people like us who arrive late, we were very hungry and had a long day, it’s dry bread, no butter and a few leftover ham and cheese bits - all disgusting, breakfast - lots of options but all disgusting, the beans and pancakes are stone cold, the rest luke warm, the only ‘ok’ thing was the freshly cooked omlettes but only one chef doing it for the whole hotel so you can imagine the queue. Lunch is ok in the restaurant, plates always run out and they are never stocked on the freshly cooked area which is the most popular, there are flies all over the salad bar landing on meat, the highly praised (on internet) snack bar is not great, burgers, chicken nuggets and chips, the bun of the burger is rock hard from being under heat lamps and the burgers are like bits of old leather. One positive is the freshly cooked pizza is quite nice! To the left of the snack bar is meant to be the patisserie section, never once saw cakes and the icecream feeezer is constantly running empty, the pattiserie side looks a bit liked it’s ready to be closed down. Dinner in the restaurant was ok but again not enough staff doing the freshly cooked stuff which is the most popular. The timings of the restaurant are ridiculous, 1.5hrs for lunch to get everyone in so it causes a queue at all food stations, dinner doesn’t open until 7pm, again queues to get in! Flies all over the salad bar. No icecream at any meal times and the same desserts just mixed round and round all week.

Third disappointment, staff in the beach bar are miserable as anything, in fact most of the staff are miserable, couldn’t crack a smile even if they tried. The one guy on the lobby bar knew what he was talking about (normally in an Hawaiian shirt) and was nice and friendly and could make proper cocktails, he even said to us he doesn’t understand the menu because that’s not how those cocktails are made, he knew exactly what was in an amaretto sours but had none of the ingredients so could only make it the hotels way. The drinks were horrible, such a weird taste, the juice from the machines were disgusting and watery. There isn’t enough staff anywhere, they all seem to be dealing with queues.

Fourth disappointment, the gym is derelict and should be demolished immediately, the equipment is unsafe, old, wires broken and can’t use the stuff because the weight pins are missing, this room is an absolute disaster waiting to happen!!!! How there hasn’t been an accident I’ll never know! I managed some free weights and a little floor work! I’ll just mention here again that it’s meant to be a 4 star hotel!!!

Fifth disappointment, the beach! We knew it was stone beach so absolutely nothing wrong with that but it just looks a shambles, every single lounger on the beach and by the pool need replacing, they are old and hagged and most ripped, the ‘umbrellas’ on the beach need replacing so they provide actual shade!!! The pier out to sea, bits are broken and wobbly and you aren’t allowed to sunbathe up there even though the hotel next door had lots of loungers on theirs. Bring beach shoes otherwise you will hurt yourself on the stones. The water sports guy has a card machine but reckons it only takes Turkish cards, why are you working in a hotel where pretty much everybody is a visitor to Turkey but you only take your own cards so we had to faff about getting cash out. Everywhere is euro so don’t take out Turkish lira and reception staff told us everywhere is cash.

Sixth disappointment which isn’t mentioned on our booking page, the hotel is an aqua park completely open to the public who can pay to come in and take all the sun beds, during the day the aqua park is rammed but will admit the queue for the slides goes down quickly. Once 5pm comes everything gets shut down which is the same time as members of the public leave so although you get to enjoy the peace and quiet, the slides get shut too! This was not advertised as part of our holiday, it was made to look like the hotel just has water slides!

Seventh disappointment, the pool bar by the ‘relax’ pool is completely shutdown, reading reviews of last year they used to be open, do lovely filled jacket potatoes, sign is still up, drinks machines still there but broken, the place looks a mess. The ‘relax’ pool is nice, nicer loungers than anywhere else in the hotel I guess.

This hotel is so far from a 4 star hotel, it’s very much aimed at French and German tourists, the 5 stars being shown above the door of reception should be removed immediately. Love holidays list it as 4 stars but how they can associate themselves with this hotel is beyond me and I will be making a complaint as soon as we are home. All the negative reviews are 100% correct. It feels like it’s operating like the hotel is about to close down and they are just getting through the season. The staff look like they are forced to work, the food is vile, the drinks are vile, the room needs renovating and as for the facilities - these need alot of work! The hotel is run down, in dire need of something magical to even get this to 4 stars!

If you’ve paid your hard earned money like us to stay here then you should seriously consider switching hotels.. we checked the reviews and decided to see for ourselves ignoring the negatives and now we wished we hadn’t.
