Rixos Downtown Antalya

We are currently coming to the end of our stay and leave on Friday, and unfortunately, we will not be returning or recommending this hotel. Simply put, Rixos Downtown Antalya does not live up to 5-star standards. Here is a breakdown of our experience: Dining & Food Sub-par buffet: There is only one buffet room option for breakfast and evening meal, which gets really repetitive and samey very quickly. Meals are very samey and lack variety with usual 5 star places offering around the world culinary adventures but not here. A la carte bottleneck: It is practically impossible to book into the specific à la carte restaurants you actually want to visit, we’ve tried every day to get into the meat place to no avail so have selected a different one just because we wanted to try something else. Drinks & Entertainment Poor cocktails: The cocktails are sub-par across the board and beer in the restaurant is a bit ropey. Kids' drinks: For a resort of this size, the drinks around the pool should be much better suited for children—offering a simple squash option would make a big difference. Entertainment: There is a noticeable lack of entertainment throughout the stay. On-Site Shop (Major Warning!) Rip-off pricing: Do not buy anything from the on-site shop, especially inflatables or snorkels. They wanted £100 for a single snorkel! I saw other reviews had said the hotel said the shop is independent and they have no control over it. However, allowing this kind of gouging on-site is a fundamental flaw that leaves a terrible impression and puts guests off. Luckily I’d read this before we got here and we went into town to get a lilo bed, here they wanted £70! The Land of Legends Excursion - Lack of information: While organising the transport to and from The Land of Legends is helpful, there is a huge lack of information provided. Guests need maps and step-by-step guides on what to expect upon arrival—especially regarding logistics, how food and drink work, and where to purchase them. Customer Service & Policies Courtesy room charge: On your final day when you have a late flight, being asked to pay extra for a courtesy room is completely unreasonable. For a self-proclaimed 5-star resort, basic hospitality on departure day should be included, not cashed in on. The room was ok although a little too light, curtains need to be wider to cover all the light coming in in the early hours and rooms are very tired but I will say the beds are comfortable and daily snack in the room is great addition when you get back later in the evening as is the in room cold drinks. There has been every night some kind of drag racing nearby so sleep has not been great with being woken at 3am for over an hour Overall, a very disappointing experience that falls well short of the price tag and the 5-star label. We expected much more.
