Grand Ring Hotel

What a disgusting and disgraceful 5star hotel. Very rude and arrogant people!!! Don’t book this hotel as they are not even 1 star hotel.they shouldn’t even be allowed to advertise their hotel.avoid avoid avoid!!!

Location: About 45 mins from the airport, private pebble beach across the road or through the underpass, nice view of the sea and the mountains. Lots of hotels around in close proximity. Nearest local shops with sweets, snacks, souvenirs and clothes about 500 m. Unfortunately, we didn't find any cafés or restaurants within short walk. The surrounding area outside the hotel is not anything pretty to look at. Everything looks neglected and not maintained. Atmosphere: Staff appear always serious, housekeeping staff friendly and hard working as well as waiting staff in the restaurant. Not many speak good English. Lots of families, lively evenings, music VERY loud (my autistic son struggled with it even when inside the room on the 3rd floor), if you sat right by the pool where the music is at, you can't even talk to each other. Rooms: Very clean, basic equipment, daily housekeeping, no problem getting another key card if there is more people in the room. Value: I guess average, although it's 5 stars hotel, the food definitely doesn't reflect that and entertainment within the hotel is not enough especially for children. I'd expect all least a pool table, some video games for kids, especially teenagers, lots of hotels (not even 5 stars) have VR room, gaming available, especially because the staff start clearing the sunbeds around the pool around 6 pm so it's usually gentle hint to get out of the pool and after dinner there is nothing to do apart from sitting by the pool bar and listening to the blasting music. They do have a game room with one table tennis and one football table, that's all. Dart board is right next to the outside bar so in the evening you can't even see where you throwing and it's right by the bushes so you can never find a dart if you miss the target. Shisha room - we went there one night, no staff present, the room look a bit like butcher area, no atmosphere to it at all, one dirty shisha in the corner and three pigeons sat on the shelf above it. Live pigeons! Don't know how they got there or why they were there but it didn't really scream "hygiene" to me so we left. Food: That was the reason why we ended our holiday the 4th day (paid for 10 days). My son and I are on gluten free diet due to coeliac disease (also lactose free), my other son is autistic and has ARFID (avoidant restrictive food intake disorder), same as myself. I reported our gluten free requirement at the reception when we checked in. However, every single day, only one item available for breakfast was an omelette. Otherwise everything contained wheat and milk. I am aware that we went to Turkey voluntarily and I did expect majority of food to reflect on turkish culture, however, there was not a single item suitable for my son, apart from little biscuits which he ate the first day and the next morning he said they taste soft and stale like if they were left there since day before, so he couldn't eat them. Lunchtime - even chips contained gluten so both us, gluten free, were left only with rice and once baked potatoes. There was a corner marked as "Diet food", which was cooked chicken breasts without any seasoning on it at all, just a bit of salt, swimming in see-through tasteless juice. This chicken was there available for lunch 3 days in a row while we stayed. Another GF option we could have was freshly grilled meat or fish, prepared outside the restaurant. The problem was that there was so many flies around and on the food that not only it looks disgusting, it is also a safety risk. So you have to try and get the pieces from the bottom of the tray and hope that the flies didn't taste it before you. Us three with Arfid and GF diet were constantly hungry. Snack bar in by the pool didn't have anything suitable for dietary requests either. Going to the local Supermarket to buy our own food wasn't an option as there was none, apart from convenience shops with ordinary biscuits and sweets. My younger son with Arfid and autism got so much anxiety due to any suitable food not being available that he stopped eating altogether and started gaging just looking at the food so on our third day, after breakfast which he couldn't eat anything at all, he never went to the restaurant again and was eating his emergency snacks brought from home as a backup. They quickly became not backup but his daily food so they didn't last longer than 2 days. My older son with coeliac stopped eating the third day after lunch when part of his fish was raw. Nearest supermarket with GF food is in Kemer which is 14 km away. Taxi will cost you € 30 each way. Food was always cold, lucky that there was a microwave as I had to heat all my food every time, even if we came once the restaurant opened. From experience, I was expecting from 5 start hotel completely different approach to dietary requests. The food issue had a massive impact on our holiday because as a parent of special need child, you don't want to see your child starving. Also lack of any activities or entertainment in a close proximity of the hotel, that you could just go out after dinner and see something, sit somewhere for a coffee or something, that was a big minus as it was boring in the evenings and as I mentioned, my autistic son struggled a lot with the high level of noise coming from the pool area. Spa: they offer you a taster session, when the massage lasts no more than 10 mins and the lady then take you back to the spa reception where they offer you "a very special price JUST for you", then if you don't book immediately, they keep asking you every time you walk past. I found it very uncomfortable. So due to the food and location, we bought earlier flights and went back home on our 4th day.
