Disappointing experience despite booking months in advance

We booked a Standard Room back in February, expecting simply a comfortable double bed and a proper bed for our child. Unfortunately, the “double bed” was actually two single beds pushed together, and the bed where our son slept was very uncomfortable, with a noticeable dip in the mattress. When I reported the problem at reception, I was told that there were no other rooms available. I understand that it was high season, but having booked months in advance, I expected the hotel to be better prepared. We were not asking for luxury—just a comfortable room and a proper bed for our child. After travelling for hours by plane and bus to get there, this was particularly disappointing. The cleaning service was also poorly timed. The cleaner repeatedly knocked on the door around lunchtime while we were resting with our child. Even when the door was locked from inside, she continued knocking, which was quite disturbing. On the positive side, the food was fresh and there were some good aspects to the hotel. Special thanks to Musa, who was very kind, helpful and genuinely positive throughout our stay.

Overall, unfortunately, this was not a pleasant experience for us. I would not recommend the hotel and would not choose to stay here again.

TripAdvisor Review
A good hotel overall, but definitely not a 5-star experience

We stayed at Kaila Beach Hotel in Alanya and overall had a good holiday. There’s plenty to like about the hotel, but having stayed there, I’d personally describe it as a solid 4-star hotel rather than a true 5-star experience.

The hotel itself is very modern and the rooms are nice, with comfortable beds. The rooms also have shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided, so there’s no real need to bring your own. Our cleaners were excellent — very respectful, kept everything clean and replenished our bottled water every day.

The main restaurant was probably one of the biggest positives. There was a huge range of food and generally something different each day, so you weren’t stuck eating the same things for the whole holiday. Breakfast was decent overall, although the breakfast meats were disappointing and seemed more like tinned/processed options rather than properly cooked bacon, sausages etc.

Strangely, the Turkish à la carte restaurant was actually much worse than the main buffet. There were only two main options when we visited and the food was awful. The soup in particular was genuinely one of the worst things we ate during the holiday.

Most of the bar staff were great, friendly and worked incredibly hard. I’d definitely recommend tipping the good ones because they deserve it. The local alcohol was also perfectly nice, so personally I wouldn’t bother paying extra for imported/premium drinks.

The pools and slides are excellent, particularly if you have children, and the hotel has its own private beach access included in the price, which is another big positive. There are also plenty of additional facilities including the spa, massages and Turkish baths.

The animation team were good and made an effort, although the daytime entertainment became repetitive. It would be much better if they mixed the activities up rather than repeating the same things every day. The evening entertainment was reasonably good on some nights, but other nights were quite boring and not particularly child-friendly.

One thing that became irritating was the constant attention from people trying to sell things around the pool. When you’re trying to relax, repeatedly being approached gets tiresome.

The sunbed/towel situation also caused unnecessary arguments. Towels would be removed from unattended sunbeds once the designated time had passed. I understand why the hotel has the rule — people reserving sunbeds for hours is annoying — but the way it was enforced regularly seemed to create confrontations.

There was also a very serious incident during our stay involving a child receiving an electric shock and reportedly having to go to hospital. We understood that the family were subsequently asked to sign a waiver relating to the incident. Obviously, we weren’t directly involved, so I can only comment on what we witnessed/heard during our stay, but it was concerning.

The Wi-Fi is another major weakness. It was basically nonexistent at times, particularly in our room. For a hotel advertising itself as 5-star in 2026, reliable Wi-Fi really shouldn’t be an issue.

Meal times can also become chaotic because the hotel accommodates a lot of people. Expect queues during busy periods and a fairly hectic restaurant rather than a relaxed dining experience. The snack bars were nowhere near the quality of the main restaurant either, and the midnight snack could definitely be improved — particularly considering it is exactly the time when people who’ve been drinking might want something substantial to eat!

Most staff were pleasant, but there were a few exceptions. Some of the staff who appeared to be in more senior positions could be surprisingly rude. Our Loveholidays representative also came across as a little rude during our interactions.

One surprisingly annoying little thing: there are no clocks around the pool areas. When activities, meals and other things happen at particular times, having a visible clock somewhere would be useful rather than constantly checking your phone.

The hotel attracts guests from many different countries. That’s obviously not a negative in itself, but it did occasionally make communication between guests challenging because of the number of languages being spoken. Most staff, however, spoke enough English for us to communicate without any real problems.

The surrounding area is okay, but we found it quite repetitive — lots of similar shops and shopkeepers trying to convince you they have the “best prices”. If you enjoy browsing and haggling you’ll probably like it, but we didn’t find walking around the immediate area particularly relaxing.

We also did the pirate ship excursion, which was reasonably good and particularly enjoyable for children. The food options onboard could have been better, though.

Finally, if you struggle with heat, seriously consider when you visit Alanya. Turkish summer temperatures are one thing, but the humidity is something else entirely. It can be extremely hot and very humid.

Overall, we did enjoy our holiday and there are plenty of things Kaila Beach Hotel does well. The rooms, cleaners, main restaurant, pools, slides, beach access and most of the bar staff were particular highlights.

However, there are enough issues — especially the Wi-Fi, overcrowding, some rude staff, repetitive entertainment, poor à la carte experience and a few other problems — that I couldn’t realistically describe it as a 5-star experience.

Overall holiday: enjoyable, but there is definitely room for improvement considering the price.

Musa is the best!

The highlight of my stay at Kaila Beach Hotel has been the amazing entertainment team. A huge thank you to Musa, Iram, and Suleyman for making every day so much fun!

They work incredibly hard from morning until night, organising activities like water polo, water aerobics, darts competitions, and plenty of other games that keep everyone involved. In the evenings, they put on fantastic entertainment including dance and singing shows, karaoke, and live music, creating such a fun atmosphere for everyone.

A special mention has to go to Musa. He is genuinely one of the nicest people I’ve met, always smiling, friendly, and full of energy. He makes every guest feel so welcome and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is having a great time. He really is a credit to the hotel and definitely deserves a pay rise!

If you’re looking for a hotel with a brilliant entertainment team that makes your holiday unforgettable, Kaila Beach Hotel is the place to be. Thank you, Musa, Iram, and Suleyman, for making our holiday so special.
