The Costa Atlantis Tenerife offers an ideal location for holidaymakers as well as offers panoramic views of the promenade and El Teide. Its central location in Puerto de la Cruz means that an abundance of shops, bars, and restaurants are just a stone’s throw away. Even the beach is just around the corner!
The hotel offers a variety of facilities including a large outdoor swimming pool, surrounded by sun loungers – perfect for soaking up that warm Canarian sunshine. On the hotel’s top floor, the glass-domed spa offers stunning sea views and a peaceful atmosphere. Equipped with a thermal circuit, sauna, Turkish bath, and swimming pool, it’s the ideal spot for ultimate relaxation. Beauty treatments and massages are also available at the spa. Other facilities include a fitness room, an on-site buffet restaurant, a pool bar, and a lounge area where you can also get refreshments.
The elegantly decorated rooms come complete with air conditioning and a balcony or terrace. All rooms feature a range of facilities to ensure you have a comfortable stay. These facilities include free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, safe*, and a bathroom with a hairdryer. Upgraded rooms to include better views or even a hot tub, is available as a supplement.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

I am just recently back from two weeks in Puerto staying in this beautiful hotel with my family. We were warmly greeted at reception upon arrival and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The location on the beach front is stunning and paying for the sea view room was definitely worth it to be able to see and hear the waves at anytime. The staff were all very friendly and work so hard no matter their role to make you feel welcome. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food with a wide variety of dishes available and a pleasant atmosphere in the dining room made eating an enjoyable part of our holiday. Thank you to everyone at the CA for a very memorable stay.
Check-in was fast and efficient, which was a positive start to the stay. The excellent sea view from the room was also a highlight. However, the room itself was quite small and lacked a proper vanity area and adequate drawer storage for personal belongings. This made it difficult to keep everything organised and, overall, the limited space affected the comfort of the stay. While the sea view was excellent, it didn’t make up for the lack of practical storage and usable space. Tea and coffee were not consistently replenished, and the amount of milk provided was extremely limited. On one occasion, after returning to the room, we needed more tea and contacted housekeeping, but the response was very slow. I eventually went to the restaurant to ask for some tea bags, where I was met with a reluctancy to give any. After some persuasion, I was eventually given four tea bags. This shouldn’t have been necessary, and basic tea, coffee and milk supplies should be replenished as part of the normal housekeeping service. The restaurant only offered buffet service, which also felt somewhat restrictive, particularly if you prefer more choice. Overall, there were some positives, particularly the efficient check-in and excellent sea view, but the small room, lack of storage, limited practical facilities and inconsistent housekeeping had a noticeable impact on the overall comfort and enjoyment of the stay.
We chose Meliá Costa Atlantis because of our previous positive experiences with Meliá hotels in Tenerife and other countries. Unfortunately, this stay was a disappointment.
Dinner was normally scheduled for 6:30 pm - changed to 7:00 pm, but the doors did not open until around 7:10 pm. In the meantime, guests had to wait while the person in charge was visibly and rather intimidatingly reprimanding members of his staff. There was no welcoming attitude towards the guests. The food itself was good, however, with a wide choice.
Much more serious was the noise disturbance. During our stay, a wedding reception took place and continued until around 3:00 am. Our room was directly above the function room, and the music was so loud that sleeping was impossible. In our opinion, it is not acceptable to accommodate paying hotel guests under these circumstances without prior warning or offering an alternative.
The staff were friendly; our criticism is mainly directed at the management. In our experience, this hotel does not meet the standard we have come to expect from Meliá.
We had mixed feelings about our stay, particularly because we have stayed at a number of Meliá hotels before and usually choose The Level experience, so we had a fairly clear expectation of the service and standard.
Unfortunately, our arrival was disappointing. We arrived at around 12 noon and fully understood that our Junior Suite would not be ready until the 3pm check-in time. However, we still expected the usual warm welcome that we have experienced at other Meliá hotels when staying as Level guests.
Previously, we have been greeted with a glass of cava and welcomed by a dedicated member of The Level team who checks us in, explains the hotel facilities, shows us where everything is and offers recommendations for restaurants and the surrounding area.
Sadly, none of this happened here. We were simply told to return to reception at 3pm when our room would be ready. We were told our luggage could be stored and that we could use The Level lounge for a drink, but we were essentially ushered towards the lounge with very little explanation of the hotel or its facilities.
When we returned at 3pm to collect our room key, the experience was much the same. We were handed our key cards without any real introduction or explanation. For guests who had paid for both a Junior Suite and The Level experience, it felt very impersonal and unfortunately did not create the best first impression.
We had also booked half board for convenience, planning to eat in the hotel on most evenings and dine out on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately, after our first evening meal at Ramba, we changed those plans. We found the food extremely basic and lacking in flavour, and in our opinion it did not reflect the standard we would expect from a four-star Meliá hotel.
We also visited Ramba for breakfast on our second morning but again felt that the quality and choice were disappointing, so we chose not to return.
Instead, we had breakfast in The Level lounge, where the experience was completely different. You can order breakfast from a menu and the quality of the food, atmosphere and service were all significantly better. The staff in The Level lounge were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our mornings there.
Thankfully, the stay improved considerably from that point onwards.
The pool area was one of the highlights. It was always peaceful and relaxing, and we never had any difficulty finding sun loungers, which made such a difference to the overall experience.
We also booked the couples VIP massage in the spa, which was absolutely incredible. The treatment took place in a private room and was easily one of the highlights of our stay. I would highly recommend it.
There were definitely some very good aspects of the hotel, particularly the pool, spa and The Level breakfast experience, and the staff we encountered in The Level lounge were excellent.
However, for us, the biggest disappointment was that The Level experience itself did not feel as special or personalised as it has at other Meliá properties. When guests are paying a premium for The Level and a Junior Suite, those little touches on arrival, the personalised welcome and the feeling of being looked after really matter.
Overall, we did enjoy our holiday and the stay became much more enjoyable after the disappointing start, but there are definitely areas where the hotel could improve, particularly the arrival experience for Level guests and the quality of the half-board dining. For this reason we wouldn’t return or recommend to friends.
Amazing hotel. Great location. Fantastic pool and rooftop spa. Staff welcoming and friendly. Lovely lounge bar with nightly entertainment. Good breakfast selection. Sea front location near bars and restaurants. Shopping mall 5 minutes away and shop directly opposite. Cannot recommend this place enough 5⭐️
