Los Cristianos

A former fishing village and now one of the busiest and most popular resorts on the Canary Islands, Los Cristianos offers something for everyone. Visitors have the luxury of quick access to nightlife in Tenerife, without having to be in the midst of the famously rowdy area which makes it a popular destination for travelers of all ages.

When to go

Tenerife is lucky enough to boast a nearly year round climate with little variation between seasons.

Day-to-day weather varies depending where you find yourself on the island: at the summit of Mt. Teide, there may be snow, but an hour away on the beaches of Playa de Las Americas, you can sunbathe all day.

The Tenerife coast boasts the most sunshine on the island with the hottest months being July and August where temperatures average at 25°C. These are also the driest months with virtually no rainfall at all.

The coolest months, December through to February, are still quite warm with average temperatures of 18°C.

Top Attractions

For those who happen to be traveling with children, Siam Park, one of Europe’s most popular and spectacular water parks, is filled with exciting slides and thrilling rides.

Looking for an adventure more based in nature? The Eagle Park (Parque las Aguilas) is just outside Los Cristianos but feels just like being in a jungle with exotic trees, plants and animals. There are also an abundance of shops and restaurants nearby, making it the perfect day out.

Teide National Park is a 45-minute drive from Los Cristianos and is home to the towering volcano, Mt Teide. For the ultimate thrill, take a cable car to its summit and explore the breathtaking views.

Beaches

Popular with those looking for more of a relaxing holiday in Los Cristianos are the wide range of beaches with sand imported from the Sahara Desert which allow their guests to spend hours soaking up the sun and warm climate which the Canary Islands have become famous for.

The main beach of Los Cristianos is a long stretch of golden sand, tranquil waters and is a hub of activity with several open air-bars and restaurants.

Next along is the Playa de la Vistas beach, another stretch of soft, yellow sand with watersports like surfing and pedalos available.

Dining

Los Cristianos has many places to eat with cuisines from Thai, French, Italian, Chinese and Canarian to choose from.

The harbourside area of Los Cristianos contains a large number of restaurants and cafes perfect for sitting outside and enjoying a drink or two while watching the world go by. Worth noting is El Rincon del Marinero, a specialty fish restaurant that’s a long standing favourite, operating since 1978.

Looking for something more modern? Try La Pepa Food Market which opened in 2015 and is still expanding. Here you can find stalls serving deli food, seafood and even pancakes. It’s an authentic taste of the Canary Islands.

Entertainment

Pubs, clubs and bars can all be found on the main strip, but you’ll find more quiet gems tucked into the back streets as well.

If you’re in the mood for a traditional pint and pie, head to a local place owned by an ex-pat. If you’d rather sit with the locals, you’ll easily be able to spot an authentic place with tapas.

While Los Cristanos is more certainly home to late-night parties on the beach, it’s easy to get away from the noise at a street side café or a classy cocktail bar.

Adventure and Sports

Numerous watersports are available on Los Cristianos’ beaches including:

• Deep sea safaris

Also worth checking out are the boat trips leaving from Los Cristianos’ harbour to the neighbouring island of La Gomera as well as the boat trips to see the schools of dolphins and other sea life.

Getting Around

The best way to see the beautiful Tenerife is to rent a car, that way you can see all the impressive beaches, its dramatic coastline, stunning mountains and lunar landscapes of the Teide National Park.

But, taxis are also readily available and can be found in all the resorts and boats can be hired to take you to and from surrounding islands.
