We always upgrade on all our all inclusive's usually worth it..At barcelo not worth it. We arrived at about 1 30 checked in but unable to get into our room, supposed to be able to get to room at 3pm . Eventually after complaining several times finally got in at 4pm. The hotel gave us a bottle of cava as apology however being royal all-inclusive we could get at anytime .we were told we would be shown to our room which we was, but the cases were dumped in room, and not shown how to use any facilities , air con, mini bar rules, etc. The accommodation was ok but was completely the other end of the complex to the royal restaurant and royal pool. I had to send a meal back in the royal restaurant as it was cold and was told it was a cold dish which it definitely should not have been.The service in the royal restaurant was not good, never got asked if we wanted a second drink at all breakfast or dinner. Very disappointed at the dolce vita restaurant, ROYAL and yet we were only entitled to a rushed set menu. ROYAL and yet mini bar was chargeable. Noone ever asked how things were throughout our whole week In all other chains if you upgrade you pay the money but get the service. Here you pay the money but do not get the service or facilities and no one appears to care

Loredana is an excellent waitress who was very attentive and smiley at the Breeze bar. It’s a relaxed vibe and serves delicious food even the chef came out to check everything was ok. Would highly recommend and will be back for more.
