Vincci La Plantacion

We stayed at the Vincci Plantación del Sur from 1st to 8th August with my two children, aged 15 and 13, and unfortunately came away disappointed on several fronts.

Breakfast: Breakfast was consistently poor throughout our stay. Many hot items were served cold, and the egg station was painfully slow — on multiple mornings we waited a long time just to get an omelette, which then turned out badly made when it arrived. For a hotel at this level, we expected far better quality and organisation at breakfast. Looking through previous reviews, we noticed this is a long-standing complaint, with the hotel responding to each one — yet nothing appears to have actually changed. It’s disappointing to see the same issues raised repeatedly with no real improvement. (Photos attached.)

Pool towels: On several days during our week there, the hotel had simply run out of pool towels, leaving us without one despite it being a basic amenity guests should be able to rely on.

Bathroom ceiling collapse and room relocation: The most serious issue was a genuine safety incident: the bathroom ceiling caved in and the electricity went out while my son was in the room. This was frightening and could have been dangerous. I had to actively chase and rush the hotel’s team into action myself to get any response — it didn’t feel like they took the urgency of the situation seriously. We were eventually moved to another room and given an upgrade, but at no point did anyone apologise, check whether my son was okay, or follow up with us afterwards. For an incident involving a child’s safety, this lack of concern was genuinely shocking. (Photos attached.)

Poor communication and embarrassment by the pool: Adding to this, when we tried to order food and drinks by the pool using our original room number, we discovered staff had changed our room in their system but never told us. Rather than simply explaining the mix-up, we were treated as though we were lying about our room, and staff insisted I pay by card there and then — in front of my children and other guests. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary, especially given the error was entirely on the hotel’s side.

Overall: Between the substandard breakfast, recurring towel shortages, a genuinely alarming safety incident handled with no urgency or care, and being publicly embarrassed over the hotel’s own admin error, this stay fell well short of what we expected from a week-long family holiday. It’s particularly frustrating that breakfast quality has clearly been flagged by guests before with no lasting fix, and equally concerning that a ceiling collapse with a child present didn’t prompt so much as an apology. Communication and basic guest care need serious improvement here.
