Sunwing Fanabe Beach

This hotel could be the worst choice ever, especially for families and kids and arranging by Ving. We had the worst experience of our lives with this hotel, and I will never, never choose Ving as an agent for our vacation and will tell you the reasons.

Stayed here for a week with my son through Ving and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. My son cut his toe on the pool stairs while getting out - and another child was injured the exact same way at the same spot right after him. The pool water also seemed unclean; my son developed red bumps and itching on his skin after swimming, something that’s never happened to him before. Every evening after 7-8 PM, cockroaches appeared around the restaurant and trash areas, and we had flies coming out of the bathtub drain in our room. But between the injury, the pest issues, and the pool hygiene, this was by far our worst family vacation - and Ving’s response to our complaint was dismissive and unhelpful. Wouldn’t recommend booking this hotel through Ving ever.

Stayed B&B, breakfast had a lot of choice. Nice for Lollo & Bernie to make appearance. Found the pool quite small, lots of people reserve sunbeds & don’t use them until after lunch. A man did go round one day & move unoccupied towels. A bit more entertainment or music round pool would have been nice, felt it lacked atmosphere. Lots of empty cups left in a tray all day. Helpful air hose to blow up inflatables by the shop/toilets. On site shop very happy & lovely friendly staff. We had studio with pool room- found the room spacious, we ended up getting one bed that was rubbish for kids so he slept on mattress on floor, it’s squeaked badly. Small fridge & even small Frozen compartment. One thing that I felt disappointment & singled out. We walked through reception when a big bus load had arrived- they were being offered champagne & orange juice. We were the only people to come off our bus- we weren’t offered anything. Hotel great location to access everything. Cleaned staff seemed lovely when we had interaction with them. Can’t comment on evening entertainment as we never went to any just heard it from our room when we got back.

Overall I liked the location & size of room but think pool is too small for the size of the hotel.

We stayed as a family of four including a 2 year old and 5 year old at the end of August for 10 days.

We come to Tenerife at least once a year and this is the first time staying at Sunwing Fanabe beach which has always appealed to us as it is a family hotel of a nice standard and good price on holiday websites.

Safe to say, this hotel more than met our expectations and we had a great time throughout our ten days. The hotel is spotless throughout, maintained well and has had a modern feel to it. All staff we came across are pleasant and helpful.

We stayed in a Royal Family Suite which was very comfortable, modern and was more than well equipped to self cater. The bonuses of a fridge full of drinks, snacks and coffee pods was brilliant. Our room was in a corner so didn’t get afternoon sun on the balcony, so request a room if it’s something of importance to you.

Breakfast was plentiful and once of the best we’ve had in Tenerife for both adults and kids. It’s busy as to be expected with a family hotel but no issues at all.

The pool area is busy as to be expected at a busy family hotel, so don’t expect to be swimming lengths. It’s full of families having fun with floats and playing games which is what the pool and this hotel is all about.

Entertainment-wise, our kids spent a lot of time in the Lollo and Bernie club which is a great asset to the hotel. The kids club and entertainers are great and to have the characters come down to during the day at breakfast and around the pool makes the kids’ day. We didn’t attend evening entertainment as we head out for meals.

If I was to provide any constructive criticism it would be very minor, and two areas which could be improved are the WiFi which can be often intermittent but generally working, and I agree with others than some music around the pool would help with a slightly better holiday atmosphere.

Overall, we had a fantastic holiday as a family and would definitely return. As regular visitors to Tenerife we definitely recommend this hotel.
