This modern hotel of 5* and adults only, nestled in the touristic centre of Torviscas in Costa Adeje, is very nicely situated within walking distance from the closest local beach. Puerto Colon marina can be reached after a nice stroll. Guests will also be able to find within the area a shopping centre with shops, restaurants and bars. The nearest airport is just 17 km from the hotel. This is a perfect hotel to spend a nice holiday by the sea.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages, body treatments and facials. You can take advantage of recreational amenities such as an outdoor pool, a steam room and a 24-hour fitness centre. Additional amenities at this hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and gift shops/newsstands.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
If you are after a true 5* or even 4+ plus star this hotel is not for you. I'm in no way a snob and regularly stay in premier inns in the UK but after a rough year I decided to treat myself to a nice holiday. Let's just say I've stayed in cleaner 3* hotels. The majority of the reviews on here are by people who stayed star prestige or got upgraded to star prestige, which is not a true representation of this hotel.
I’ll start by saying when I contacted Jet2 regarding my stay, they were shocked by the photos I showed them and accepted that the standards of the hotel fell well below a 5* and offered compensation right away I think this says a lot about this hotel.
On arrival the the welcome is great, the staff are friendly, the lobby is well designed, clean, modern and inviting but sadly that's where it ends. The majority of the staff are friendly until they see your wrist band isn't a star prestige.
The hallway carpets are grubby and stained, the mirror in the lift is smashed and the cleanliness in the rooms is something else. Originally we stayed in a standard room but due to being a wheelchair user and the room and bathroom being unsuitable we moved to an accessible room 3 days later whilst this was slightly bigger if someone was a full-time wheelchair would be impossible for them to maneuverer round or use the bathroom. Neither of the rooms were cleaned properly, our feet were black with grime and dirt every time we walked on the floors. Housekeeping hoover the floor in the rooms instead of mopping them. We requested additional bath towels as the ones we were given were threadbare and stained and were brought 2 hand towels because they don't have anymore bath towels - again this is supposedly a 5* hotel. The curtains in the room were ripped, stained and black along the bottom and the door out on to the balcony didn't close without slamming due to the beading having ripped off. In our 2nd room the mini fridge hadn't been emptied as the empties from the previous guest were still in there, when we informed reception they just took one can and left the rest. The wardrobes and cupboards are dusty and have a musty smell in them. The air con was non existent it didn't cool the room, whilst I'm aware there are limits by law in Spain just be aware if you are traveling when it is high season. The bathroom was quite possibly the worst part, although it had a seat in the shower it was so grim, dirty and rusty I chose not to use it, their was a dead insect on the bathroom floor for 10days.
The pool area overall is nice, although the pool needs maintenance due to the amount of cracked tiles and mould/grime building up and floating in it. I overheard lots of guests complaining about injuring themselves. There is a decent amount of sunbeds and its good that their is a selected area for people with mobility needs. The staff are friendly by the pool but I find it off putting that the staff walk round with QR codes asking guests to leave reviews on here.
The restaurant is nice but its too small for the size of the hotel and can get very busy with people queuing for tables. Their is a good selection of food but it wasn't the best in terms of taste it was often cold and I had hash browns on more than one occasion that were still frozen. The lady that cooks the omelettes in the morning and the staff in the restaurant at breakfast were lovely.
The hotel seems quite relaxed about guests smoking around the pool and on the balconies, which can make the environment unpleasant for non-smokers. Also, take care when visiting the terrace bar, as the flooring is damaged and uneven. We witnessed several people trip over the hole.
Our room was on the main road and overlooked the s*x shops and it the road was extremely busy and loud. Also the housekeeping start very early and shout down the corridors to each other so if you want peaceful lie in expect to be woken up. The housekeeping also used to knock on our door random times of the day multiple times and if you answered they just look at you and walk off not really sure what this was about.
We hadn't been to Costa Adeje for many years and we were surprised how run down the area had become and it didn't feel particularly safe area to be in especially at night. Be careful to not get hit by the people on scooters speeding down the pavements and the mobility scooters they say you need a blue badge but we saw plenty of people racing around with their kids driving them Be prepared for the harassment from the lucky lucky sellers and hair-braiding ladies . While walking along the seafront, we were offered substances on several occasions and saw them target families with kids also. Also be aware of the pickpocketers who target people day and night.
Our trip was definitely far from the relaxing treat we needed and I definitely wouldn't return to Iberostar Selection Sabila or Costa Adeje.
I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience at the Iberostar Selection Sábila. For a hotel claiming to offer a five-star experience, I found the overall standard fell well short of expectations. The food was particularly disappointing. I expected a far better standard of cuisine, greater variety and a more refined dining experience. Instead, the only real option was a buffet, which I found surprising for a hotel of this supposed calibre. Even staying at the higher level of accommodation did not appear to offer any meaningful alternative. I would have expected a choice of dining experiences rather than being restricted to the same buffet. The entertainment was another major disappointment. Much of it seemed reminiscent of holiday cabaret from the 1980s, completely at odds with the sophisticated atmosphere I had anticipated. Worse still, the volume was often excessive, making it difficult to escape the noise and enjoy any peace and quiet. A hotel should offer entertainment for those who want it without imposing it on everyone else. The staff were generally friendly, although in some cases that friendliness crossed the line into overfamiliarity. Professional courtesy is always welcome, but I prefer staff to maintain a little more distance and respect guests' personal space. Overall, the atmosphere seemed geared towards a particular, predominantly older clientele, with a notably loud and sometimes rather boisterous holiday culture. Unfortunately, this did not suit my idea of a relaxing, upmarket holiday. My main criticism is that the hotel seems to trade on its five-star image without consistently delivering the quality, choice, ambience or sophistication that such a rating should imply. I had expected a more refined experience, particularly given the hotel's positioning, and left feeling that the reality did not justify the expectations. I would advise anyone seeking a quieter, more sophisticated five-star experience to consider carefully whether this hotel is the right choice. For me, it was a considerable disappointment, and I would be unlikely to return.
This hotel is outstanding from location to facilities offered. The food was absolutely amazing and the choices outstanding. The staff are so helpful and friendly but the person who stood out for us was Carmella the pool concierge she was so helpful and always had a smile on her face We would definitely stay at this hotel again
Excellent hotel. The location, the accommodation, the food and most importantly the staff are amazing. 100% there for you all the time. Restaurant team are particularly outstanding with Daniella being an absolute star. Abel you have a fantastic team! Thank you.
Fantastic service from the minute we arrived until we left. A very smooth check in, efficient and friendly with a complimentary drink while the paperwork is done. Our room (and the whole hotel) was fresh and modern, and always spotlessly clean. We liked the bird themed decor and the separate shower and toilet in the bathroom. An added bonus was the complimentary mini bar with alcohol and soft drinks available. The room had everything we could have needed. We were offered an upgrade to a sea view but as we planned to be mainly by the pool we didn't bother. Although we didn't have a great view it was nice and quiet. The other areas of the hotel were also lovely. It was all very spacious and relaxing, with a choice of bars and seating areas. My husband used the gym which he said was very good for a hotel, as it had an indoor and outdoor area. He also attended a spin class there, and we both enjoyed the aqua-aerobics. As it is an adults only hotel the pool area was very relaxing. Loved the booking system for the sunbeds. This meant we could choose exactly where we wanted to be, without that early morning rush. Being brought cocktails and ice cream by the pool was a very welcome touch. One day there was a bird of prey show by the pool which I really didn't think was necessary and felt very out of place. We were all inclusive so were very pleased with the food on offer. The buffet had such a wide choice, I'm sure everyone would be able to find something they liked. Each night there was a themed area as well as the usual food areas. We loved the seafood night and thought it would be very hard to beat, but the next night was sushi night which was even better, with lots of delicious and very fresh sushi available. The drinks were also of good quality. Often in all inclusive hotels they have cheap substitutes, especially with cocktails, but here they were very generous and served up fantastic cocktails. Loved the edible straws and the little bar snacks, only improvement possible could maybe be a wider selection of cocktails. I recommend trying the 'Scottish coffee' in the little cafe area - like an Irish coffee but with a scoop of ice cream! The entertainment was fine, nothing amazing but enjoyable enough while enjoying a post-dinner drink. The singers doing the Elvis and Elton John covers were very good. The entertainment tended to be held outside and if it was chilly they brought round blankets which was a lovely touch. Unusually for an all inclusive hotel they did allow non-guests to come in off the street. This would have been okay but they allowed families in with young children, and as an adult only hotel I found this strange. The location of the hotel, just a short drive from the airport, right next to the beach and promenade (a locked gate allowed direct access) was excellent, however the surrounding area is not great. To be honest it is quite tacky, so unless you want massage parlours and McDonald's it's best to stay in the hotel. We were only there for a short break so this didn't bother us, but if we were going for a longer stay we would have had to travel beyond the area to find somewhere nicer. We would definitely return to this hotel for another short break though, the standard (as always with Iberostar) was excellent.
