We had a really lovely stay overall, and after a slightly disappointing start, the rest of the holiday more than made up for it.
The only negative was our experience when we first arrived. We got to the hotel at around 12:30pm knowing that check-in wasn’t until 2pm, which was absolutely fine. However, when we arrived, we weren’t given our all-inclusive wristbands and it took three members of staff checking our booking before they realised we were actually all-inclusive. This was then blamed on the booking website.
At 2pm, we went back to reception to ask for our room key but were told the room wasn’t ready, so we happily went and sat by the bar. At 3pm it still wasn’t ready, and when we asked again at around 3:30pm, we were told the same thing. We then went to walk away but decided to turn back and ask a different member of staff if they knew roughly what time it would be ready. The original receptionist then spoke in Spanish, assuming we couldn’t understand, and said, “She’s just asked me that,” which we found quite rude, especially as we had actually asked a different question. After that interaction, we were honestly a little worried about how the rest of the holiday was going to be.
Thankfully, things improved massively from there. A young man from reception actually came and found us once the room was finally ready and brought our keys over, which was really appreciated and helped turn the situation around.
Now onto the food — WOW! I genuinely don’t understand some of the negative reviews about it. I’m allergic to both lamb and beef and still always found plenty of things I could eat. There was lots of choice and we really enjoyed the food throughout our stay.
The entertainment was also great and there was always something going on. We stayed in the adults-only area during the day, but Adele and the rest of the animation team still made such an effort to include us during the evenings.
A special shout-out has to go to Will — he was absolutely fantastic. He really made an effort to get to know the guests rather than just doing his job and moving on. He even remembered when it was my birthday, which was such a lovely touch and made the stay feel much more personal.
We were two girls aged 23 and 25 and felt the hotel suited us really well. There was a great balance of relaxing during the day and having entertainment in the evenings, without feeling like we were missing out by staying in the adults-only area.
Despite the rocky start at reception, we ended up having a brilliant holiday. The food, entertainment and animation team were definitely the highlights, and the staff members who went out of their way to make us feel welcome really made a difference.
We would definitely return!
Needs a refurb, smells of drains in the corridors, rooms clean enough and are cleaned everyday.Hard work getting a sun lounger, they make you wait on your loungers til the pool opens, wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it.
Just returned from 10 days and we had the most wonderful time, the hotel was clean the food was lovely and the facilities were great, the main pool soon filled up but we noticed you could still get a sunbed at about 8.45 and around 4 but we used the roof terrace which were lovely, all staff were pleasant and happy to help, we were close to the beach and shops, bars and resturants, the food at the hotel was lovely and no complaints, we had a great time and look forward to returning, Tenerife is beautiful and would definatly recommend.
Another brilliant stay at GF Fanabe, stayed for the 2nd year for 2 weeks, emailed the hotel requesting the same room or one in the same location, which we got. Brilliant service. The staff are superb, the bar staff never stop. The hotel may need an upgrade, but we love this place. The sun bed issues we saw last year, were not as bad this year, beds still available at 8.30am. The food is typical all inclusive, always something to find to eat. Can’t wait to return.
Location is perfect right in the middle of everything just like we wanted. Staff are amazing and absolutely brilliant. Hotel is clean. Siam Park is a must visit. Beach is a short walk away. We had a fantastic time.
