This attractive apartment complex is located in the tourist centre of Playa del Duque, about 600 m from beautiful sandy beaches. Numerous shops and entertainment venues are located in the immediate vicinity, and the nearest public transport stop is just in front of the building. The hotel comprises three-storeys with a total of 210 accommodation units. It offers a conference room and a public Internet terminal for business guests, while younger visitors can participate in the kids' club activities or let off steam in the play area. The grounds feature a water complex with two swimming pools, which is perfect for sunbathers. Guests can also make use of the sauna and sports enthusiasts can play squash, billiards/snooker, table tennis or try out diving. The hotel also offers a varied entertainment programme for adults and children.

8 night family holiday
Just recently returned from an 8 night stay at this hotel. Location was very good, close to the shopping centre and several restaurants/bars. Only a 10 minute walk down to the seafront/centre. Pools were clean and decent sizes. Pint at the pool 3.50 which is reasonable for hotel prices. One big problem was we was given a room with no air conditioning and when we asked for one with air conditioning there wasnt one available so sleeping at night was a problem due to the heat. Room could do with modernisation but was a good size. Overall a nice stay besides the air con situation.
mediocre stay - no aircon in standard rooms
We have just returned from a week’s stay at Hotel El Duque and, unfortunately, our experience did not live up to what we expected from a four-star hotel.
Firstly, I want to give credit where it’s due. The staff were wonderful throughout our stay they were friendly, welcoming and always helpful. The food was also a highlight, with plenty of choice every day. The Asian evening was particularly lovely, and the sushi was excellent.
Unfortunately, there were several significant issues.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of air conditioning in the standard rooms. For a four-star hotel in Tenerife, this came as a real surprise. Having to pay extra to hire a portable air conditioning unit just to make the room comfortable enough to sleep was not something we expected in 2026.
The pool area also needs much better management. There simply aren’t enough umbrellas for the number of guests using the pool, leaving many people sitting in direct sunshine for hours. With the strength of the Canarian sun, access to shade should be considered essential.
What made this even more frustrating was that the superior rooms each have private sunbeds and umbrellas on their terraces, many of which remained completely unused all day. We counted around 40 unused umbrellas while approximately 20 people around the pool had no shade at all. It seems such a waste when guests are left exposed to the sun.
The sunbeds and umbrellas are also constantly moved around by guests, making the pool area feel disorganised and overcrowded. A better system would make the whole area more enjoyable for everyone.
Cleanliness around the pool could also be improved. Empty cups were often left lying around for long periods, and the bins regularly overflowed during the day, which spoiled the appearance of the pool area.
Overall, the hotel has some genuine strengths, particularly the hardworking staff and the quality of the food. However, the lack of air conditioning, poor pool management, shortage of shade and standards of cleanliness mean that, in our opinion, this hotel falls short of the standard expected of a four-star property.
With a few relatively straightforward improvements, this could be a much better place to stay. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would think carefully before returning.

Amazing hoilday
Fantastic holiday very clean apartments, food was amazing every night, catered for everyone 😋. Pool was lovely very big and spacious. Entertainment crew was so welcoming and different shows every night something for everyone. Thankyou for a lovely hoilday we will be back.
Nice hotel with a few problems.
We recently stayed at this hotel with our daughter and grandchildren. On arrival, our first impressions were very positive. The hotel and grounds are lovely, very clean, and beautifully maintained. The location is excellent, with shops and the beach just a short walk away.
Unfortunately, we hadn’t read the reviews before booking and didn’t realise that, even in 2026, some rooms still don’t have air conditioning. We asked if we could upgrade but were told there were no rooms available. Instead, we were advised to hire a portable air conditioning unit from an external company. We did this, and it made the apartment bearable. The fans provided by the hotel simply weren’t enough in temperatures of around 30°C.
The food was one of the highlights of our stay. There was a wide variety of choice every day, and the quality was excellent. We were even pleasantly surprised to find freshly prepared sushi one day. The restaurant and bar staff were fantastic—friendly, hardworking, and always smiling despite how busy they were.
The biggest disappointment was the pool area. The hotel has hundreds of guests but only around 21 umbrellas. The sunbeds remain locked until 10am, so people gather around the pool waiting for them to be released before rushing to claim the limited shaded areas. As I was with my daughter and young grandchildren, we ended up carrying heavy sunbeds to whatever space was left and never managed to get a sunshade. In the midday heat, this felt uncomfortable and potentially unsafe, especially for families with children.
The Wi-Fi was also very poor. We were given the access code on arrival, but when I mentioned at reception that I couldn’t connect, I was told that the Wi-Fi wasn’t very good there. Unfortunately, it turned out not to be very good anywhere in the hotel, and I had to rely on my mobile data for the entire week.
Overall, we enjoyed our holiday. The hotel has many positives, including its location, cleanliness, excellent food, and wonderful staff. However, it would benefit greatly from improving three key areas: reliable Wi-Fi, adequate air conditioning in all rooms, and a better pool setup with significantly more shaded areas for guests.

Relaxing stay
Very nice stay at the Hotel El Duque. Check in was seamless and the staff very helpful. We had a superior room in block A and it was excellent, very spacious. Massive balcony with a sea view. Stayed self catering so can't comment on the food. The drinks were competitively priced with the bars in the local area. Great location, walking distance to the beach, restaurants & shopping districts. The pools here are fantastic, very clean and plenty of sunbeds. Free bali beds too. Perfect place to relax, if you want lively then this is not the hotel for you. The entertainment is on a par with other similarly price hotels in Tenerife. Plenty of entertainment in the area if you want it.
