Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
While marketed as a 4-star resort, our stay felt closer to a 3-star experience at best due to overly strict policies and an unwelcoming atmosphere where guests often felt treated like an inconvenience.
The Positives:
The hotel is kept clean, and the pool area is nice. A special mention goes to the two gentlemen running the children's pool activities, they were warm and engaging with the kids.
Areas Needing Improvement:
Inflexible policies: We witnessed staff make a family with a young child feel very uncomfortable over minor pool water drips indoors. When the family moved 10 feet outside to an open table to resolve it, staff told them they couldn't eat there—despite no signage indicating food wasn't allowed.
Premature breakfast pack-down: Breakfast is advertised until 10:30 AM, but by 10:15 AM staff had already removed major food items (including breakfast muffins) and switched off the toaster. The staff tone was abrupt, leaving guests feeling like a hassle simply for coming down during advertised hours.
Abupt Unexpected evening shutdown: While we expected all-inclusive drinks to stop at 11:00 PM, it is not made clear to guests that the hotel completely shuts down all seating areas at that time. Staff immediately begin packing away cushions and beanbags, lock up the main lounge, and essentially kick everyone out. Leaving guests with no communal space to sit and socialize past 11:00 PM feels far too regimented for a holiday setting.
I have rarely experienced a resort where staff attitude made customers feel like such an inconvenience. Aside from the excellent pool activity team, the resort felt managed entirely for staff convenience rather than guest comfort. With a major shift toward warmth, flexibility, and real customer service, this could be a better place, but currently and from our experience it falls well short of 4-star expectations.
We stayed here start of June and it was very disappointing. We chose this hotel as it was supposed to be good for children but there was 0 entertainment. The staff where rude and it felt like you where just constantly being watched like a hawk. The food was terrible small selection, bland and cold, didn’t taste good and flies where everywhere Was told off for bringing a drink with us to dinner and was told we could only buy from their bar, our first evening meal there we was approached because they didn’t think we had a wrist band on for part board when both of our wrist bands where very clear to see. They have table and chair outside but when we tried to sit there we was told off and told we are not allowed to sit there
The rooms where clean but our room had ants the cleaners where nice and they do provide towels for the pool, the area is quite hilly and there is not a huge selection of restaurants or shops and not really much at all to do for children without getting a taxi somewhere that will cost €18 there and €18 back
Just arrived back home after 14 nights at the tropical park hotel accommodation fantastic location superb hotel staff very obliging and helpful good variety of food.2nd visit this year and reservation team gave us the room we had requested hopefully back in September for 30 nights jet2 rep CARLOS very. helpful
The complex is apartments and not a hotel. It definitely doesn't compare to other 4 star hotels in Tenerife and am a perplexed to how it's been given a 4 star rating. As others have said it is in a very quiet town. It is hilly and would not recommend for people with mobility problems. The rooms are lovely, well equipped and are kept spotless. We stayed half board. The food was a major disappointment - food that should have been hot was cold. There wasn't a lot of choice. The pool photos online are enhanced, the pool isn't deep so if you enjoy swimming this isn't the place for you. There is no entertainment and the pool bar shuts early. There are a few restaurants and bars in the town. The whole place looks a bit run down, lots of empty shops. Would not return here.
A fantastic stay at Hotel Tropical Park in Callao Salvaje. The immaculately clean, modern apartments and excellent pools make it a great base. Special shout-out to the hardworking concierge/ TUI rep, Oscar, who went above and beyond with local recommendations and island excursions to enjoy sailing, whale watching, a day trip to renowned Unesco Heritate site, La Gomera, a sailing voyage to Los Gigantes Cliffs, and a tour of Masca Village and northern Tenerife. He also helped us arrange transportation. This was an exceptional vacation spot. We also recommend relaxing on the sun beds at Puerta Colon. Fun, fun, fun!
