JS Cape Colom

Went here as a couple with our adult son and we were incredibly impressed for the most part. I am still going to give it 5 stars, for the value for money aspect alone, but I do still want to give some more detailed feedback in terms of pros/cons.

Pros:

• We had a side sea view room and it was amazing! Large comfortable and clean room (217) with fantastic views and nothing to complain about. My sons front facing room was smaller but still very nice. Excellent water pressure all the time, very comfy bed, great TV service and the air-con was excellent too.
• The food offering was mostly excellent with a different selection each day, a very large selection accounting for all tastes (my wife is vegetarian) and different themes for dinner - Mexican night, tapas night, Greek night etc. All food was fresh, hot and tasty.
• The 2 singers were superb, much better than I expected and had everyone up dancing.
• The staff deserve special credit, all of them were amazingly friendly, very helpful and always went the extra mile. Really made us all feel welcome. And the best member of staff was the cat! What a character.
• The location is wonderful with amazing views from the hotel terrace and it's only a short walk to the beach and shops.
• The 2 swimming pools are fresh water and really nice with loads of sunbeds that are nicely spaced out, never have to fight for them.
• My son loved the gym, couldn't believe how good it was.

Cons:

• There is very little to do in Portocolom and going anywhere else is actually very difficult, especially if you have mobility issues like me. The bus stop was too far to walk to and getting taxis seems to be extremely difficult for some reason (we waited over an hour to get one back from Cala Egos night market!) so if you like to get out and about this is not the place for you.
• There were a few bizarre food selections, like broccoli at breakfast and one day there was was roast beef in gravy but no veg or roast potatoes to go with it! Then the next day there was roasties and veg but no meat of that type. The "British" sausages are also awful, please get some proper ones!
• The wi-fi is pretty poor, although this isn't that big an issue, and there are no smart TVs, only standard ones with about 10 English channels.
• The so called "Dance Music DJ" was rubbish, they just played Spanish music most of the night, nothing like what was advertised. The 2 singers were also not the same ones advertised, although both were fantastic as mentioned.
• The drinks selection could be a bit bigger - no cider, limited spirits and worst of all there is a charge for bottled water, which really should be included in the all-inclusive.

But like I said, I want the positives to be what you focus on, I just hope that the hotel take my feedback and make it even better because overall this is an amazing resort that I would definitely go back to.

Fabulous hotel. Lift too small but everything else superb

This is a lovely hotel in a quiet part of Portocolom. Everything was spotlessly clean and the daily housekeeping was very efficient. Our highlight was the food. Every meal was very good,the food was always fresh and hot. Plenty of choice and all dishes regularly replenished. Definitely the best all inclusive buffets we have ever had. All the staff were friendly and happy to help. An easy walk from the hotel to both the centre of Portocolom and the nearby beach. There is regular bus service to Portocristo and Cala D'Or and also boat trips from the harbour. Highly recommend this hotel.
