- Hotel Palma Bellver by Melia

This elegant hotel enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the Paseo Marítimo seafront promenade of Palma. All of the rooms have furnished balconies, and the majority boasts extraordinary panoramic views over the marina, the cathedral, the Bay of Palma and out to the open sea. Business guests will appreciate the spacious conference facilities as well as the fully equipped business centre, while holidaymakers will love the fantastic outdoor pool with sun terrace, the pool bar, a fully equipped mini gym as well as the restaurant, combining regional and international cuisine with stunning views. The Pueblo Español Congress Centre is just a short stroll away and numerous bars and nightclubs are in the hotel's vicinity. Major sites such as the Bellver Castle, the cathedral and the historic old town are within walking distance.
Good location overlooking the marina, although it's on a very busy and noisy road.
The hotel was okay, but not what I'd normally expect from the Melia brand. Given the number of hen and stag parties in Palma, it was never really going to feel like a five-star experience. The beds were also a little too springy for our liking.
The biggest disappointment was the breakfast charge. On arrival, we were told it would be €16 per person, but at checkout we were charged €20 because we hadn't pre-booked. We were never informed of this. Reception admitted we should have been told both at check-in and when we gave our room number at breakfast. We clearly weren't walk-in guests, as we provided our room number and signed for the charge.
The extra cost only came to €16 in total, so it wasn't about the money—it was the principle. I asked for the difference to be refunded but was told this wasn't possible. I then asked to speak to the duty manager, only to be told there wasn't one on site. I find it hard to believe a hotel of this size had no senior manager available to deal with guest concerns. Very disappointing customer service, and unfortunately it left a poor final impression.
We always used to stay at this hotel on our previous visits to Palma so it was our first choice when we decided to return for a few days in the sun.
Our first impression of the hotel was that nothing much had changed; pleasant and helpful reception staff, basic but clean rooms and great breakfast choice. The public areas are still stylish although the lovely ground floor bar was not in use and drinks are only served in the pool bar. The bedroom and corridors are a little dated but still serviceable.
Location is what makes this hotel special with beautiful views over the marina and it’s proximity to the old town.
We would definitely return.
We have been here at the Palma Bellver for almost a week and would like to say a huge thanks to all their staff in particular Augusto who has been incredibly attentive, friendly and professional at all times greeting us with a warm welcome a smile and fabulous service. Thank you.
Stayed here for a couple of nights to explore Palma. First impressions of hotel weren’t great- took over 45mins to check in, with staff who didn’t give good first impression and seemed uninterested. Then to be given a double room, had booked a twin. This was sorted after another lengthy wait. Room wasn’t cleaned for duration of stay, despite having sign in door since 9am, asked at reception- where we were told house keeping work until 9pm- wouldn’t want to have been there with a young family and having my room cleaned and beds made at 9pm. It was never cleaned Staff lack interest especially at Breakfast and restaurant. Many too busy having conversations with each other to assist guests. Breakfast poor - very reduced selection on 2nd morning of our stay, with “hot” food being cold. Fruit- well there was brown pineapple and melon. View from room was lovely, but this hotel is let down by all of above. We’ll come back to Palma but not to this hotel.
Arrived at this hotel paying over $300 per night and found out as we arrived they have no Bellmen. Like a Holiday Inn, grab a luggage cart, load your luggage and push it to your room.
Asked if the hotel could upgrade us to a seaview room which they approved and charged us accordingly. Upon arrival at our room, pushing our cart we found no seaview. Just a horribly ugly city view room with one building painted in lots of horrible colors pretending it is artwork.
Called back to the desk and after telling me it was a seaview advised they would find a new room they would call us back. We had to sit on the floor so as not to mess up the bed and waited and waited. Finally I walked back downstairs and the same lady looked at me without recognition. When I asked what the status was on the room she replied her colleague had already gone up with a new key. My husband was waiting in the room. Back up I went and found the staff with the key who then finally offered to help up with our luggage to the next room. No apologies from anyone.
This hotel is a hotel used to people coming in to have a "fun" vacation stay and then depart.
Staff at desk mostly unhelpful or not understanding what you are asking for. Although our seaview room view was nice that was the only redeemable thing about this hotel.
Do not recommend. We stayed 3 nights.
