HM Balanguera

We booked a last minute city break to Palma and choose HM Balanguera as our base to explore. We arrived a bit early and check in was from 3pm but Carolina on reception was super helpful, gave us a key to store our luggage use of the facilities at the hotel. A 20 minute walk down the main road to the Cathedral gave us chance to start to explore and there are supermarkets, restaurants and bars all within a short distance.

On return check in was quick and easy and our rooms were nice and clean and exactly what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. Shower was lovely with good pressure, hair dryer included and a nice touch was the complimentary drinks in the mini bar. As a city hotel obviously the views were of the surrounding buildings but there's a bit of greenery around and it's not too bad. The view from the terrace and plunge pool is nice and there are a few booths and sun beds for guests to use. Food is available from 12-3:30 on the terrace and drinks are brought up to you if you want them. It's a lovely little boutique hotel probably more suited to couples than families due to it's size and location ( you will need to walk or taxi to most destinations locally) but we enjoyed exploring the area.

We had bed and breakfast and the breakfast was much better than we expected given the hotel's size. A great range of hot and cold food, juices, pastries etc worth doing unless you want to have the hassle of finding food first thing. We felt it set us up nicely for the day.

My only comments would be that when people have eaten or had drinks on the terrace these aren't cleaned away as quickly as you'd expect and as a city hotel it is a little noisy at night but we found it perfectly acceptable.

All in all a good base from which to explore the city, good value for money for the breakfast and Carolina and the rest of the staff were really helpful. I'd definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Immaculately clean, comfortable beds, great shower. Staff were welcoming, helpful & polite. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of healthy choices which we like. Pool & area was small but perfect to cool down. We never had any issues getting a bed or a cabana. Great location, variety of restaurants & supermarkets close by. Would highly recommend & will return again.
