I booked two double rooms for four nights. The hotel’s location and views were amazing, and my friends and I enjoyed spending time having drinks by the pool and on the terrace.
Unfortunately, our experience was seriously affected by the behaviour of some staff members. On several occasions, they referred to us as “maricones,” a derogatory and homophobic term. This was extremely disrespectful, offensive and completely unacceptable behaviour towards hotel guests.
There was also an issue regarding breakfast. During check-in, the reception staff collected the passports of all four guests and explicitly informed us that breakfast was included. However, at check-out, we were unexpectedly told that breakfast was not included for some members of our group and that we had to pay additional charges covering all four nights.
If the hotel had made a mistake regarding our booking, we should have been informed immediately—either during check-in or before any additional breakfast charges were incurred. Nobody mentioned the issue while we were having breakfast during our stay, so we had no opportunity to clarify the misunderstanding or decide whether we wished to pay for breakfast.
Although the property itself is beautiful, the discriminatory language used by staff and the way the breakfast charges were handled made our experience deeply disappointing.
We are a group of 4 women on a weekend trip to Palma. What caught our eye was the roof terrace overlooking Palma Bay, and this did not disappoint. The terrace is wonderful with beautiful views of the bay and marina. The location is great, about a 10 minute taxi to the Cathedral. When we arrived on check in the receptionist was lovely and upgraded one of our rooms for us which was great. The rooms were clean, with lovely views. Not a huge amount of space for unpacking, so if you are here for more than a weekend you may find yourself living out of your suitcase. Breakfast was good.
A couple of negatives, we were looking forward to using the pool, however it wasn’t appealing to us. It is quite tired, the cushions on the sun beds don’t look very nice and there is no atmosphere, we have the pool a complete miss! Another negative is the staff, reception were lovely, but we found the bar staff at the terrace quite rude. We were shouted at one evening for being on the terrace taking pictures of the view when it was closed. We didn’t realise the terraced was closed. I think the staff could be a lot friendlier.
Overall, if we were to do a short trip again we’d be happy to stay here.
We booked a 4 night stay quite last minute. When we arrived at this hotel we were greeted warmly and checked in easily. Our room was quite basic but very clean. We had a partial view of the marina and the cruise liners.
On our first full day we visited the rooftop bar for a couple of drinks before heading out for dinner. The staff were lovely and very professional. We both enjoyed a glass of mallorcan wine which was beautiful. After seeing the chef setting up the BBQ we decided to stay for dinner. The view was incredible. The wine was beautiful and the food was delicious. We ate at the hotel the following 2 day also.
We went down to the pool on day 2. The guy who worked at the pool was the most welcoming, accommodating person. He couldn't do enough for the guests. The pool was lovely. They serve drinks and ice cream too. And of course a wonderful view!
The room cleaning staff worked extremely hard and each afternoon our room would be spotless.
All the staff were so kind and helpful.
We had a truly wonderful stay. We will certainly want to return for another visit to this gem of a hotel.
Just returned from a long weekend in palma staying at the Catalonia. Check in was very good and David was really friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. We had to wait as our room wasn’t ready so we enjoyed a free glass of cava on the terrace. The room was abit basic but good enough for a couple of nights. We spent the following day by the pool and have to say that Dan was exceptional, nothing is too much trouble and he goes above and beyond for all the guests. Palma is a beautiful place to visit and this hotel was a great base to do that.
Just had a brilliant romantic 3 night stay here.....This hotel is our favorite in Palma....This is our third time here and first came here 20 years ago... Wonderful service as always.Had a 4th floor double room with a sea view balcony.....You can sit back and enjoy the view of the whole of Palma harbour within many sights..... Amazing to watch the giant cruise liners come and go...... This hotel has a wonderful rooftop terrace with plenty of comfortable seating... There is a lovely outdoor pool, and also a nice indoor pool and spa....... There is excellent lounge bar with a great variety of food offerings.. Also a really nice evening barbecue on the terrace........ Plenty of dining choices..... There is also a large shopping mall just around the corner..10 min walk.. The staff at this hotel are so so helpful...Our stay was made even better by the lovely waiting / bar staff..Especially Rossana who deserves a special shout out.. Will definitely be back here..
