Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Just back from a weeks holiday at this hotel. We stayed in Sol 1 on 2nd Floor but were very reluctant to go after reading a lot of negative reviews especially about the food. I can only say please do not worry about it as there was always lots of choice and the sea food was amazing. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you and the entertainment was good also. The room was a decent size for 2 people and a good sized balcony and it was cleaned every day. All in all the hotel was very clean and in a brilliant location and we would definitely stay again.
We travelled as a couple with 8 month old baby with our parents.
Firstly the few pros: The location is brilliant, out of the gate and you are in the midst of the shops and bars and not far from the beach. I couldn’t fault this!
The staff in the restaurants were really friendly and interacted with our baby which was nice.
All inclusive drinks were fine and generous measures.
Often spotted cleaning of the communal areas and rooms cleaned daily with new sheets and towels every day.
I liked the view from our room and that we could watch the entertainment from our balcony if we had an earlier night.
Kettle, fridge, free safe and English channels were helpful.
Cons: The pools are absolutely freezing, so much so I only went in once in my weeks stay.
Reception staff (with the exception of one) were rude and unhelpful. They also have a rule that if you loan an iron (no ironing boards) it’s 25 euro and had to be back within 2 hours. Fine with this but made a genuine error and retuned late so they kept the money just for people to be mindful that they will be strict with it!
Rooms are small.
Baths over shower in Sol2 were difficult to navigate due to how they are fitted and the large shower screen. I would suggest if you have even a slight mobility issue ask to be moved. It was near impossible to bath our daughter safely in it and my mum slipped in hers and got quite bad injuries which hotel staff weren’t bothered about.
Some guests are rowdy, you are near magaluf so I expected some of this however every night they sat on the tables on the terrace of sol2 at the early hours of the morning shouting, swearing and laughing loudly. The hotel appeared to have security (not sure what time they work till) but clearly not bothered about moving them on or asking them to respect others. If you have small children I would really consider this before booking!
The food is poor. I expect repetition at European all inclusives however it really was bad. Some of the food was undercooked too, one night they had chicken on and it was raw. Thankfully we noticed before eating but it put us off completely.
Entertainment quality isn’t the best. Some of the acts were good I.e. Michael Jackson (should have been on main stage at sol2) and African acrobats. Karaoke 4 nights a week is overkill.
I wouldn’t return unfortunately and the only reason it isn’t a lower star review is because of the reasonable price we paid. I can’t imagine what it would be like staying here in the height of the summer with the number of lifts, I imagine there would be subbed wars as sol1 pool is in the shade after late morning and long queues at bar/restaurants would have drove me even more crazy!
Ok hotel, the food is fine, but the policy is trying to rip you off. When you get a bracelet, they will make sure to cut it the way it will eventually fall off, so you could potentially loose it, and in case you don’t return it, they will rip you off by 20 euros, just to get a new one. Overall, recommend staying, but be careful
Absolutely lovely staff friendly even when there were issues which were solved quickly and nicely hotel clean and modern we stayed in Sol Palma nova 1 this year food great helpful staff and food was fantastic fresh and plentiful lots of variety pool clean and well maintained Entertainment good location is just great we are staying two weeks and are one week in and very good
Don’t go! Tried to send us to another hotel on check in due to “ tech issues “ and many other people were sent to alternative hotels in other areas. Near beach but food is mostly UK style greasy food. Loads of families don’t recommend for a calm experience and all inclusive drinks doesn’t suit some guests who can’t handle drink and cause scenes. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Some staff also lacked manners. 4/10.
