Great Family Fun..But Room For Improvement 4⭐️

Hi there and welcome to my review of the HYB Eurocalas Majorca. My review is based on experiences of our family holiday weeks stay. We flew from Exeter to Palma and the hotel is roughly an hours transfer from Palma Airport. We had a warm reception welcome when we arrived and check in was facilitated well with members of staff being able to talk to.

Hotel Tax was 46 euros for the week.

We were allocated to our room in the Ibiza block on the top floor (8th floor) which we booked a 1 bed apartment. The room was spacious for our family with a fridge and cooking facilities. Beds and sleeping facilities were comfy. My only concern being on the top floor with children is the balcony was not the best to keep them unsupervised. I suggest that the hotel think about some kind of restrictors on the windows too, as these fully open allowing access to a potential fatal incident.

The pool area was great with lots of space to be able to find sun loungers and parasols. I have seen on previous reviews of this hotel that there are sun loungers available are limited, If you are going in the summer expect this..you just gotta get up earlier 😜.

The all inclusive food is quite repetitive..but this is like pretty much every hotel you go to with all inclusive. The hotel do themed evenings such as Indian, Mexican, American,Greek…the list goes on so there is always something a little different. The hotel will also accommodate for gluten free options and also any special dietary requirements. The only downside with the all inclusive seating is that it was very tightly squeezed in and the noise levels were loud. There was an option to be able to eat outside, but the wasps were a pain (Mother Nature doing its bit)

The snack bar serves burgers, chicken nuggets (these are the best nuggets) chips just a quick snack and grab to go, but also the main restaurant provides a wider choice for lunch.

The local beer is on tap along with a choice of soft drinks on dispensers which is ideal for the kids to go up to and help themselves. There is also cold filtered water available. The main bar serves a wide choice of drinks including cocktails and premium spirits at a cost.

The entertainment for the kids is fantastic as well as the adults. Big shout out to Big Dave,Pedro and Mario for engaging and interacting so well with the hotel guests they really brought the energy to the activities planned throughout the day, including the famous water carpet, water polo, aqua Zumba which everyone got involved with. The evening entertainment is great for the kids with the kids mini disco starting at 830pm featuring special guest LoLo the turtle. We attended these most evenings with adults shows such as the karaoke and magic shows which were great.

There are 2 water parks on site which are great and all lifeguarded. One for the little kids and a larger one for the older kids/adults.

There is a shop onsite with everyday amenities which was helpful but seemed to be quite expensive. There is a supermarket situated about a 5 minute walk out of the complex which had much more choice and a lot cheaper.

There is a nice little walk down to the beach area and also a path to the cliff edges to be able to watch the sunrise in the mornings. See photos attached.

Overall I found this hotel a great little find but just required some extra improvements 4⭐️

I would not return

Currently staying at this hotel as we did last year the same time. Unfortunately this year we have been made to feel as if we are not welcome here. Before I go into details I will leave the good parts about the hotel.

Entertainment staff are brilliant - always smiling and brilliant with the children. Bar staff - again most staff are nice & polite however a handful of staff aren’t as nice nor polite Food/restaurant- the food is repetitive but we expected this as it was very similar last year, this year whilst my husband was eating his tea time meal. To his shock (whilst still eating) the plate was took from under him and taken away. This did really shock us.

Upon arrival there was staff on reception ready to check us in. With my eldest child being autistic and as we had previously stayed here last year we did request to stay in the Mallorca block which was much quieter for my children. For that I am grateful that we were again put in the Mallorca block. Rooms are clean & plenty of space for our family of 5. Going into a few days we did request for our rooms to be freshened up and to our shock they were not. No clean towels for us to use. We waited again until the following day and again had the button to show we were needing the room maids in. Which they did do eventually but having no fresh towels for 4 days wasn’t the best.

Going onto the pool area - as we stayed here last year our children found the smaller pool by the Mallorca block a lot quieter and not as many people around it so was happier being around that pool rather than the main one. This year unfortunately we have been picked on several times by the lifeguards who have told us and other families different things. For example - our children were playing with a small ball throwing it to each other with friends they have met, not hitting anyone or being aggressive with it, one lifeguard explained they was not allowed a ball in the pool, even though there was many other families STILL playing with balls whilst we was being told ours could not. On other days we was told they can play with balls in the pool. The information from different lifeguards has been very conflicting. We have since seen multiple other children playing with them and again our children and a couple of others being told they cannot during the afternoon and to only play on the grass even though since 10am they have been playing quite happily without anything being said. My husband questioned this to be told ‘I am the lifeguard and I make the rules’. My husband was then sat on a bed where we sat last year and the same again this year and was vaping (something that has been done for the past 10 days and nothing had been said to us nor other families) we explained that it is not cigarettes that was being smoked and we understand that we would need to move if it was. Another family also questioned why was it only us that had been told this, even though another family next to us and facing us was vaping also.

We explained this to the manager and she said we can vape but not smoke cigarettes (again we understand that and also explained we don’t smoke cigarettes) and she was happy for us to do this. Once she left we then tried to continue our day which was disturbed once again not even 10 minutes later by the lifeguard telling us not to vape.

The manager offered for our children to have a turn of the trampolines (again my husband explained that we have not complained to get something but we wanted her to understand how we have been made to feel since being here).

We came back to this hotel as last year it was brilliant and our children loved it. However this year has been a huge let down and in the past year we have been through a lot as a family and we just needed a break away from reality and from everything that has happened. I now cannot wait to go home as I’ve been made to feel we have done wrong. I will never return to this hotel which is a shame because our opinion last year was the complete opposite and I couldn’t have recommend it more. Unfortunately for the way we have been made to feel my opinion has completely changed.

Fantastic family holiday – excellent food, pools, entertainment and staff

We stayed at HYB Eurocalas as a family of seven – 3 adults and 4 children aged between 9 and 16. Overall, we’ve had a very positive experience, particularly with the food, pools, entertainment, facilities and staff, although there were a couple of things that could definitely have been handled better.

The pool areas are excellent. The pools are clean and very well staffed with lifeguards, and we had no problem getting sunbeds, which was a huge plus. Pool towels can be rented for a €10 deposit each and can be changed as often as you like. The deposit is returned when you hand the towels back at the end of your stay.

The daily entertainment and activities were amazing and really helped keep everyone moving and entertained throughout the day. There was always something going on, from water polo to aqua activities in the pool, and these were great fun for both adults and children.

The grounds are kept very tidy by the grounds staff, with plenty of green areas throughout the complex. There’s a football pitch which our son loved. The waterparks were a massive hit with our children. There was plenty around the hotel to keep them entertained.

Our rooms were spacious and clean, although they are a little tired and could definitely do with being updated. One small addition that would make a big difference would be a mirror in the bedroom or hall - preferably a full-length mirror. With several people getting ready, we really missed having one.

Our main disappointment was the room allocation. Before travelling, we requested two apartments as close together as possible because we were travelling with my elderly mother-in-law (preferably ground floor). Unfortunately the hotel wasn’t able to accommodate this request.

I emailed before our stay and even offered to upgrade or downgrade our rooms if that would make it easier to place us close together, but unfortunately I didn’t receive a response to that email. I completely understand that room requests can’t always be guaranteed, but I was disappointed as I didn’t feel that much effort had been made to find an alternative arrangement for us.

Our second room ended up being on the first floor and two blocks away from our room, which was far from ideal given that we were travelling with an elderly family member.

That said, our experience with the staff once we arrived was excellent. The reception staff were super friendly, and the bar staff were so nice and very efficient.

The food was amazing and was one of the highlights of our stay. With seven of us, finding food that everyone enjoys isn’t always easy, but our whole group loved it.

The poolside snack bar was also excellent and well stocked throughout the day. There was plenty of hot food such as burgers, chicken nuggets and chips as well as cold drinks, hot drinks, cakes and soft-serve ice cream. Another big plus was the hotel van bus to the beach. The beach is only around a 10-minute walk away, but having the bus was particularly helpful for my mother-in-law and made getting there much easier for her. There are steps down to the beach, which is worth being aware of for anyone with mobility difficulties. The beach itself is beautiful and sheltered and well worth visiting.

Overall, despite our disappointment with the room allocation and the rooms being a little dated, we’ve been really impressed with HYB Eurocalas. The excellent food, clean pools, plentiful sunbeds, brilliant daily activities, friendly staff, well-kept grounds, beach transport and facilities for children have all been big positives for our family.

A wonderful family holiday!

We recently stayed at the HYB Eurocalas for 7 nights, booking two rooms. The rooms were a perfect size and were cleaned thoroughly every day. The pools and the two splash parks were amazing. While the pool water isn't heated, you really don't need it when the weather is 34°C (feeling like 49°C!). Once you are in, the water feels absolutely perfect. A quick tip for parents regarding the two water areas: the pirate-themed splash park is built directly into a standard pool. The slides here are smaller, and while children can easily see when the person before them has finished, there is no lifeguard managing the slide queues. On the other hand, the newer "Aqualandia" area is different—each water slide has its own dedicated landing zone. Lifeguards are everywhere here and are highly vigilant, telling the children exactly when it is safe to go. Just be aware that the Aqualandia floor has some exposed corners near the slide exits and the bottom of the steps, so we highly recommend bringing water shoes. The kids' club and animation team were super friendly and smiling all day long, organising great activities for all ages. The kids' club is completely stress-free; you can either drop your children off or stay with them. Ours particularly loved the ball pit! There is also a lovely, sandy park area at the kids' club which we took full advantage of during the cooler parts of the day. Location-wise, the hotel is about an hour's drive from Palma Airport. There are plenty of handy tourist shops just around the corner. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus to Domingos Beach. It runs at specific times and the driver will do a couple of trips each slot, so just make sure you are down there on time if you want to use it.I had read some reviews complaining about the noise, but please remember this is a family entertainment hotel. The music around the main pool is lively but certainly no louder than a beach club, and it features well-known pop and dance tracks during activities, switching to pleasant Spanish songs around lunchtime. We didn't find it to be an issue at all. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening entertainment, the mini disco is not the same every night and it's not compulsory to go to. The evening entertainment is good, some nights didn't appeal to the kids so we didn't stay longer than the mini disco. As many others have mentioned, there are wasps—particularly around the bar and drinks areas. However, if you do what the bar staff do and just let them be, you won't have any issues. I personally hate wasps, but once you accept that they are just looking for sugar and will leave you alone if you don't swat at them, it won't ruin your holiday. If you expect to sit by a pool with sweet drinks and not see a single wasp, you are mistaken—it's no different to a hot summer's day in England! Plus, as soon as the sun goes down around 9pm (during the mini disco), the wasps disappear. We only saw one person get stung during our entire week. Food wise, they have themes each night in the restaurant, however there is always Margarita pizza, chips and plain pasta for fussy eaters, like our kids! There are plenty of dessert options, but these aren't always labelled correctly or at all. There was an ice cream machine where you can add icecream to anything you like! The restaurant is big, plenty of seating inside, a nice space outside too. Water tap, beer tap, wine taps, soft drinks, juice machines and coffee machines available. The snack bar served nuggets, chips, hotdogs, burgers and a vegetarian option, cold meats and cheese, with an ice cream machine for dessert. There were a small selection of biscuits and cupcakes in there too. Again, a beer tap, water tap, slushie machines (outside), soft drinks dispensers available here. The staff clean the area constantly and make sure that tables are cleared ready for the next wave of snackers and they constantly top up the food.

Overall, a brilliant family holiday and we would definitely recommend it!
