Pool

Not a great experience.

Rooms

We stayed in two Premium Garden Apartment rooms (4 adults, 2 children). When we first arrived, one of the rooms had a strong sewage smell and a lot of bugs flying around. The second room had a milder smell, but it was still noticeable. After raising this with reception, a cleaner was sent, which helped reduce the smell—but it never fully went away.

While we were at reception reporting the issue, we overheard other guests complaining about serious problems too—one said they had no running water, and another mentioned their air conditioning still hadn’t been fixed. This immediately lowered our expectations for the rest of our stay.

We later spoke with other guests staying in the same type of room, and they also complained about the same sewage smell. One family next door told us their shower had flooded due to a blockage, and the following day, we noticed a large puddle of water seeping through the wall next to where their bathroom likely is—confirming that plumbing issues might be affecting multiple rooms.

For a room advertised as “premium,” it certainly didn’t feel like it. The private garden area was covered in leaves and bird droppings. While we understand that being near trees and bushes means some debris is expected, we noticed hotel staff regularly cleaning the general grass and paths, yet they never cleaned the patios or gardens of the private rooms—not even once during our 2-week stay. We ended up having to clean the bird mess ourselves with baby wipes just to make the space usable for our kids.

The apartment itself was okay. The children enjoyed playing outside once we cleaned the area, though there were a lot of mosquitoes. The kids also kept tracking leaves into the apartment, which added to the mess.

Cleanliness

Cleanliness was a major issue throughout our stay.

Although the beds were made daily and bins changed, there was a few days we noticed bed sheets were not changed.

The floors were poorly swept and never mopped. After showering, our feet would pick up dirt from the floor. At one point, a plumber had to enter the apartment to resolve a drainage issue, and after they left, muddy footprints were left on the floor. No one returned to clean or sanitise the room afterward.

While we regularly saw staff cleaning the lobby outside, that same level of care was clearly not extended to the rooms themselves.

The worst part was discovering an infestation of ants all over our bed. This wasn’t just a few ants—it was a full infestation. I reported it to reception straight away and showed a video to a young staff member. He apologised but then shrugged it off by saying “This is Majorca, and as it’s an island ants are to be expected.” That comment was incredibly frustrating. Of course we understand seeing a few ants now and then is normal and unavoidable—especially in kitchen areas. But this was a full infestation on our bed, and not something a guest should be expected to tolerate. They did not even offer to change rooms.

Despite being told our room was now a high priority, it took three hours for a cleaner to arrive. I had to go back to reception again as the ants were spreading. Eventually, a cleaner came in and even she looked shocked when she saw the situation. She sprayed the bed and room with an insecticide (leaving a strong lemon-chemical smell), changed the sheets, and left. No one explained if the room was safe to sleep in, so we had to air it out ourselves.

The ants then moved to the outside of the window—so it seems like the nest may have been inside the wall.

Service

While some staff were polite, the response times and urgency were disappointing. Whether it was plumbing problems, ant infestations, or basic cleaning concerns, there seemed to be no effective communication or follow-up.

There were multiple cleaners on-site, but even urgent issues took hours to address. Guests shouldn’t be left to chase staff repeatedly just to get basic hygiene issues resolved.

Food

The snack bar by the pool served the same food every day—mainly chicken nuggets and chips, with some cold meats, cheese, and the occasional pizza. The food there was okay for what it was, and convenient for quick bites during the day.

The main dinner hall, however, was extremely chaotic. It felt like a free-for-all, and navigating through it was difficult, with people constantly walking in all directions. The food overall was very bland, and the only dish I genuinely enjoyed was the lamb chops—which were only available once during our entire 2-week stay.

From a hygiene perspective, it was off-putting. There were many unsupervised children wandering around, and on more than one occasion, I saw children touching food with their fingers and tasting it before walking away. While I understand kids will be kids, this should be better monitored by both parents and staff, especially around food.

I also had a few unpleasant surprises:
	•	I found a bone in my salmon (not a big issue, but worth warning others).
	•	I discovered a piece of plastic in a lamb curry, which looked like the kind you’d find on a microwave meal—raising concerns about whether some of the food might not be freshly prepared.

The dinner menu rotates through 7 theme nights, then repeats for the second week. Breakfast was the same every day—your typical English breakfast options. Unfortunately, the bacon and sausages were very bland, so after a few mornings we skipped breakfast and opted to wait for the snack bar to open instead.

Pools

The pools themselves were great—there are three in total and plenty of activities to enjoy. However, despite clear signage and warnings from lifeguards not to reserve sunbeds, many guests still woke up as early as 6 AM to claim specific spots, and nothing was done to stop it. This made it unfair for families or guests who didn’t want to wake up that early while on holiday.

Entertainment

The animations/entertainment team clearly worked hard to keep both kids and adults entertained throughout the day, offering various games and fun activities. The evening shows were great and enjoyable—but finding a seat was very difficult due to limited space.

Around the stage area, there are several coin-operated kiddie rides (€1 per ride). Just a warning—on one occasion, a child had defecated in the green truck ride, and instead of cleaning it immediately, staff simply placed a wet floor sign in front of it and left it there, which was very unhygienic and disappointing to see.

Shops & Bars

There is a shop on-site, but like most hotel convenience shops, prices are very expensive—for example, £3.50 for a small pot noodle or a can of Pringles.

The bar staff, on the other hand, were great. You could see they worked hard and were good at what they do. The drinks generally tasted good, although some did feel a bit watered down at times.

Final Thoughts

I’ve never felt so disappointed with a holiday before. This was the first time I’ve ever written a review, but I felt compelled to after this experience because people deserve to know what they’re walking into.

I will never be returning to this hotel, and I strongly advise others staying in Premium Garden Apartments to ask to switch rooms immediately. The upgrade is not worth the money, and you’ll likely spend your time dealing with problems rather than enjoying your stay.

Not a great experience

Upon arrival we were told we couldn't access either one of our rooms until 3pm. We got to the hotel at 12 as we had an early morning flight and was expecting to get straight in and unpacked like we have done on previous holidays. People who were arriving after us were getting into their rooms before we were. After finally getting into our room we had to report that the safe didn't work and the air-con was poor. The hotel did send someone and sort the safe out but the air con was never dealt with. The room was always warm and you could only feel a breeze when raising your arms. The showers weren't exactly safe, thankfully my little one isn't old enough to shower alone as the temperature had its own mind. One moment it was okay, set at the required temperature, the next it would scold you.
Food was very basic, not a lot of change or variations. 
Majority of the arcade machines don't work, yet you only find that out after paying, so its best to just avoid this area. 

On a positive note, the pools were fantastic! None of them were cold and there was no queuing for the slides. You do have to be up very early to get yourself some sun lounges as they're all gone by 9am when the pool isn't open till 10am. 
The area is lovely, nice and quiet with restaurants and shops just a 5 minute walk away. Beautiful cove beach just 5 minutes on the shuttle bus. Plenty of things to do on days out around the island too.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel

BUTLINS ALL INCLUSIVE

This is a value all inclusive. The price is good but you feel like you on the Set of “Shameless”

Don’t get me wrong, your kids will love it. They don’t know any better.  The water parks are ideal, the “snack bar” (small room with unlimited nuggets, chips, pastry, beer and slushies) will keep them from whinging. 

A big hats off to the kids entertainment in the evening from 8:30-9:30. My 4 & 8 year old enjoyed it. 

However………..

The main pool is simply filled with Britains finest. You have to laugh otherwise you will cry.

We found escaping to a pool a bit further from the snack bar was much nicer and like stepping into another resort. 

The restaurant is chaotic, people are on a mission. There are plenty of tables, the food is fine and there is lots to choose from each night. But do not expect luxury. 

We stayed in an apartment with 3 kids. We had an extra bed and there was plenty of room. For what we paid it was fine. 

The staff are worked like dogs but we found them all pleasant. Drinks were cleared quickly and the hotel was clean. 

The kids enjoyed the afternoon kids club and they have a nice park when it’s cooled down. 

The evening entertainment again was fine, they put different things on and you can’t knock it really. The bar staff did a really good job at keeping the rude chavs in their place. 

All in all it’s good value but you get what you pay for. 

Would I come back?  Nope, simply too many chavs. 

Did the kids love it? Yes 

My advice, spend another grand and go to Greece or Cala Dior. This area is run down compared to other parts of the island.

Butlins All Inclusive

Stayed here for a week with my family and we had the best time.
Food was amazing, rooms where clean and where cleaned everyday.
The new splash park is fantastic and there's something for everyone.
Staff in restaurant and bar are so friendly and helpful and huge shout out to the entertainment team especially Nico who is brilliant with the mini disco and getting all the kids involved also shout out to Luis for the evening entertainment too.
Keep up the great work everyone. 
Booking for next year which will be our 3rd year in a row.

Amazing Family Holiday

I agree with many of the opinions about this hotel, especially about the chaos in the restaurant, which absolutely cannot handle the capacity of the hotel and it is very difficult to find a free table. The bartenders look like they are doing the job as a punishment, it is hard to find a single smile from them. The rooms are ok on the whole, but the maintenance doesn't try very hard and there are many flaws - a broken lock a  trofakatastejnincluding the sensor on the balcony door, some clever guy painted the balcony chairs with paint before we arrived and it stains your clothes and swimsuit amazingly when you sit on the chairs. The evening entertainment is as much a disaster as the restaurant, hard to find a spare chair. However, the biggest shame of the hotel is the small shop near the reception where the gentleman is very arrogant and rude to the guests, not to mention that his prices are 300 percent higher compared to other shops in Calles... We will not return to the hotel...

Bad experience

This property is 13 minutes walk from the beach. Situated in Calas de Mallorca, 350 m from Cala Antena Beach, this all-inclusive family-friendly hotel offers 3 outdoor pools, including one for kids with water slides, as well as an outdoor terrace with deckchairs and parasols. International dishes are served in the complex's buffet restaurant. Snacks, drinks and ice-creams are available from the bar. There is also a wide range of activities for all ages at the complex.
