Grupotel Aguait Resort And Spa

We came here two years ago and it was one of our favourites so we decided to return. This isn’t a picky review as the hotel has a huge number of good points but unfortunately one big but that we couldnt look beyond.

First the positives: the staff are lovely and helpful, there are no noisy or rowdy guests (most are German and are lovely and polite), the entertainment each night is good, drinks are excellent and the food at the pool bar is really nice.

The location and views out to sea are amazing.

But…during our stay the buffet food at breakfast and dinner was horrendous. Choices were really limited (I really wouldn’t recommend it at all for vegetarians) and the meat tasted either undercooked or really poor quality. Our tactic was to treat lunch as a main meal and scrape by with what we could eat at breakfast and dinner. At one point we thought it might just be us - other guests were piling food upon food on their plates but we really aren’t fussy eaters.

So maybe give it a go if you like the thought of all the pluses, you might like the food after all, but it’s put us off coming again.

We stayed from August 17, 2026, to August 23, 2026, with my wife.

Check-in We arrived at the hotel by rental car around 00:20 AM; the drive from Palma Airport took about an hour. At reception, we presented our check-in vouchers. Even at that late hour, they offered us dinner (late dinner), asked us to fill out a standard form, and return to reception. We had dinner—which was actually quite delicious—and in less than half an hour, we received our room keys and were in our room. We were also provided with full information about the hotel. Reception performance—flawless.

The Room We booked a MOUNTAIN VIEW room (№ 205): spacious, bright, with a large balcony overlooking the road (we didn't see the point in paying extra for a SEA VIEW). The room has a double bed, more than enough storage space, a fridge, a safe (€12 for a week’s use, which in my opinion is petty cheese-paring), a TV, and a tea corner—kettle, tea cups, glasses, coffee, tea, sugar, and one bottle of water. The bathroom has a hairdryer, towels, shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner. No slippers or bathrobes. Overall, a decent room.

Grounds, Parking, Beach & Pools The hotel sits on a cliff and doesn't have large grounds. The pool is fairly big, ranging from 1.2 to 2.25 meters deep. The water in the pool is very salty (saltier than the sea and heavily chlorinated), so we rarely swam there. The hotel doesn't have its own beach, but I don't see that as a big deal: if you step outside towards the sea, head left past the pool, and go down the stairs to a concrete platform, there is a comfortable ladder entry into the sea (a small cove). We mostly swam and snorkeled there. It’s certainly no Egypt, but there are fish and crabs to observe. The seabed reminds me of dead coral (Wikipedia mentions that around 11 million years ago, there was indeed a living reef here). You can rinse off with fresh water near the pool. Beach towels can be exchanged at reception on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Wi-Fi works quite well throughout the property.

As for parking: right in front of the hotel, there is space for about 18 cars (including a few accessible spots). To the right of the hotel (facing the main entrance), there is a dirt slope with room for another 15 cars (hotel property). On the opposite side of the road, another 15 cars can park (not hotel property). Opposite the hotel, there is a public transport stop (you can ask for the timetable at reception or find it online).

Dining & Restaurant We had Half Board (HB), which was more than enough.

• Breakfast: fried eggs, boiled eggs, omelets, bacon (overcooked, crisp like chips), sausages, cold cuts, cheeses, pate, smoked salmon quite often, various types of jamón, yogurts, vegetables, fruits (apples, grapes, watermelons, melons, pineapples, peaches, plums), pancakes, croissants, honey, Nutella, and jams. The coffee is good—3 automatic machines in the restaurant. Several juice options, including tomato. In an ice bucket, there are bottles of Brut, so you can pour yourself a morning glass of sparkling wine.

• Dinner: chicken (saw chicken in chocolate sauce one day))), turkey, veal, lamb, pork, fish, rabbit, pizza, tacos, various cheeses with tasty sauces. Every day they grill something delicious right in front of you, and there was always seafood—squid, shrimp, octopus, paella. Tried carpaccio for the first time—not my thing(((. A great selection of desserts and ice cream, and a few times they had a chocolate fountain where you could dip fresh fruits and berries. Plenty of fruits and vegetables as well. I don't think anyone will leave disappointed.

There is a dress code for men at the restaurant: you must wear long trousers for dinner (no shorts). I wore jeans.

Services

• Reception: Flawless.

• Housekeeping: Cleaned daily usually before noon, did a good job. On the last day, they left a towel with a small hole—didn't even mention it since we were checking out the next morning.

• Restaurant & Bar Staff: Good, no queues anywhere, plenty of food and clean tableware!

• Entertainment: Adults Only concept (18+), designed for a quiet, relaxing stay. The only animation is aqua aerobics in the pool led by a tall, fit woman—my wife enjoyed it.

Surroundings If you exit the main building towards the sea, turn left, pass the pool, turn left again, and go down the wide stairs, you reach the small beach of CALA N’AGUAIT (about 10 meters away) in the Capdepera municipality. Crossing to the opposite side of the cove and walking along the coastal path offers scenic views. A 15-minute walk brings you to SON MOLL beach and various cafes. Walking another 15 minutes leads to the larger CALA AGULLA beach. We didn't go all the way there because Mallorcan beaches in summer are crazy crowded with no parking available. But walking along the coast is very pleasant.

Miscellaneous Hotel guests are mostly from Germany (around 70-75%), Poland, and France, with the rest from other countries. No kozlomordy (Russians) seen inside the hotel. Staff speak German, Spanish, and English. People here seem to have a certain status and means—nobody rushes, nobody hustles, people eat and drink moderately, and many read books by the pool.

At 9:30 PM, there is live music at the hotel. On Sunday morning during breakfast, a pianist played near the restaurant entrance.

A Few Recommendations:

1. The umbrella stands by the pool are not heavy enough, and even a mild wind can knock an umbrella over—be careful.

2. The hotel grounds are not fenced off, and I didn't see any security or visible cameras, so anyone can walk in from either side. A few times I saw people with children (in an 18+ hotel) and heard Russian spoken on the concrete platform by the ladder and in the cove—though they clearly were not hotel guests.

3. You cannot get free drinking water in the hotel—only buy it at the bar in glass bottles. There is a LIDL supermarket 1.5 km away; we bought water there (you need plenty of water in summer).

We visited the Rafa Nadal Museum and Academy and the pearl shop in Manacor, CUEVAS DEL DRACH (Drach Caves), Capdepera Fortress, and caught the sunrise at the Capdepera Lighthouse. Everything is nearby and well worth visiting.

Final Verdict The main criterion for rating a hotel is whether you would return and recommend it to friends and family. To both questions—AN ABSOLUTE YES.
