Cala Millor Garden

We are currently staying here and still have a few days left of our holiday, but unfortunately the experience so far has been extremely disappointing.

The biggest issue has been the overall standard of service. Since arriving, staff have generally come across as irritated or inconvenienced whenever they have to deal with guests. The atmosphere often feels unfriendly and unwelcoming, particularly in the restaurant, where you regularly get the impression staff are annoyed that you are there at all.

Our room also has several issues. The bathroom mirror is blown, there is a noticeable damp smell, and the shower floor actually feels spongy underfoot, which makes us concerned there may be rot or water damage underneath it. The beds are also very uncomfortable. More generally, the standard of cleanliness and upkeep throughout the hotel is poor — there are even names carved into the metal inside the lift.

The food has probably been the biggest disappointment. We booked all-inclusive but have now more or less stopped eating lunch and dinner here because the quality is so poor. The meat in particular has a very unpleasant texture. Last night, while sitting downstairs, we could hear other guests having the exact same conversation, with one woman saying she could barely eat the food here, so unfortunately it does not seem to be just us.

The alcohol is also very poor quality, and drinks are regularly served as half cups rather than anything resembling a normal serving. There are supposedly bar snacks available, but only between 11am and 1pm, which feels like a very limited window for an all-inclusive hotel.

What actually prompted me to write this review while we are still here was a call from Guest Experience last night. They phoned our room specifically to ask how our stay was going, so I explained the problems with the shower, damp smell and room. The response was simply that the phone line was bad and they could not hear me. I repeated myself, was told again that the line was bad, eventually said “never mind,” and the response was essentially “okay, great” before the call ended. It was a pretty perfect example of the overall service we have experienced.

Pool towels are also charged at €2 per day, which I personally think is poor for an all-inclusive hotel.

The pools themselves are extremely cold. I appreciate this is partly on me as I should have checked whether they were heated before booking, but even with temperatures around 30°C outside, very few people seem to actually get into them.

There are some positives. The location is excellent and very central, with everything on your doorstep. Our balcony is nice, we are on the top floor and can see the sea, the air conditioning is keeping the room reasonably cool, and there is filtered water available in the hallways. The other guests we have met have also been lovely, friendly and smiley.

But overall, I genuinely cannot understand the overwhelmingly positive reviews I read before booking. For the location, I would personally be much happier staying somewhere room-only or self-catering and simply eating and drinking out locally.

Unfortunately, this is not somewhere I would actively choose to stay again or recommend based on our experience so far.

Good clean. Friendly hotel. Staff are very helpful. Rooms are modern, but lack storage and hangers. A kettle would be nice in the room. Panoramic room views are lovely, views of the sea,pool gardens and mountains. Outdoor entertainment area is very good plenty of tables,chairs and the deck chairs were comfy. The animation team were excellent always visible and friendly but never pushy. Cocktails and Sangria are very poor quality. For a 4star hotel I'd expect them to be made fresh and not out of a machine. Food was very hit and miss, and very bland. dont believe the reviews as they are totally wrong. The breakfast was the best meal of the day normally. Good choice of eggs cereal,Fruit juices. There's plenty of fish and meat available but lacked vegetable to go make up a meal. Food not replenished quickly enough, potatoes always had onions or garlic on them. The themed nights which were Asian & American were the best with plenty of choices. Desserts were very much the same at all meal times and choices were poor compared to other hotels we have stayed in. The tables in the restaurant are so close together you could hear everyone's conversations. Snacks were very restricted only served between 11 -2pm ,again not good especially when its adult only.
Coffee machines would be much nicer if fresh milk was used instead of powered as this made them very sweet. I would not recommend this hotel if you like good food.
