Ideal for beach vacationers, this resort is situated in Cala d'Or, in a quiet area right by the sea. It is about 2 miles to the center. The nearest shops are about 2 miles away. The complex was modernized in 2017. The complex has 8 junior suites, 10 suites and 353 double rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Services and facilities include a currency exchange service, a car rental service, medical assistance, 24-hour room service (for a fee) and a laundry service. Wireless internet access (no extra charge) allows guests to stay connected while on vacation. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities and 4 elevators. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Air conditioning ensures that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Most of rooms include a balcony or terrace as a standard feature. Valuables can be securely stored in a safe. Guests will also find a mini fridge included among the standard features. Other features include a telephone, a flatscreen television with satellite channels and WiFi (no extra charge). A hairdryer is available in the bathrooms. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. 15 wheelchair-friendly rooms can be reserved. The hotel has 371 non-smoking rooms.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We were slightly worried after reading some of the negative reviews, however, I was pleasantly surprised.
The rooms are a bit tired but it is just a place to rest your head and had the facilities we needed. The cleaners were in every day - due to environmental reasons, you have to display the card for clean bedding and towels - we weren't aware at first so just a note, but its not a problem.
I was worried about the salt water showers but they really aren't bad - I could hardly tell the difference!
The pool area was large and sunbeds available - no wars. The bars next to the pools are good - large variety of drinks available including cocktails / spirits.
The only negative about the pool is the small tiles from the flooring were coming loose and you could see where they have gone missing - it doesn't affect the usage of the pool but should be better maintained.
The food was good - always something to choose from. They had themed nights as well as the A La Carte restaurants. Steak house, Italian and Mediterranean - Steak house was really good! From 3pm you can order snacks from the pool bar and they had a variety of items there - nachos, toasties, wings, pizza etc all included if All-Inclusive.
The staff work really hard and it shows. They are always on top of cleaning and ensuring you have what you need.
Check in was smooth and easy - they took our cases to and from the rooms at the beginning and end of our stay which was a nice touch.
The entertainment during the day was great! They had an activity programme including yoga, French boules, darts, riffle shooting etc - my first time trying paddle yoga and it was great! They do also have a pool table, mini golf and table tennis you can use throughout the day too.
They had a variety of shows during the evening from singers, flamenco, bingo, karaoke and more. I'd like to shout out Antonella, she was amazing. Antonella was a big highlight of our trip and is very hard working. She ran the activities during the day and was there in the evenings too. Always talking to us and ensuring we were having fun.
The location is good - in the town of Cala Egos where you can find shops, bars restaurants etc. There is a Ting Ting train that you can get from outside the hotel to Cala D'or and is only 5 EUR and takes about 10 minutes or a 5 minute taxi ride. The hotel is about 1hr from Palma if you wanted a day trip. The beach is right outside of the hotel - it is a public beach but no noise whilst around the pools.
Overall, a lovely stay. In need a bit of renovation regarding the rooms and pool flooring but it is near the end of the season, everything else was great.
A wonderful good all rounder hotel to stay at. Location is perfect for hiking, bus trips, snorkeling, swimming & relaxation. The hotel is spotless. Food on offer is plentiful. Staff are hospitable. The best place we've ever stayed at & would love to visit again.
Hotel was lovely, view of the beach was amazing (make sure you pay the upgrade for the sea view) and great location. Entertainment was good and on every night, staff were friendly. The rooms were spacious, cleaned daily and nice interior, only thing I would say is there was a smell of damp/mould. We did notice some areas of mould around the sink area and on the ceiling. The pools were clean and spa area was relaxing, pools were not heated and we only went in once due to how cold they were. The beach is also a public beach and can get quite busy. Overall, hotel was lovely however the main issue we had was the food. Breakfast was varied and tasty but dinner was very adventurous and we didn’t enjoy any of it. You can get the chef to make you a steak but it is very chewy and cheap, the other food options were chicken that looked grey and unseasoned. There were also a lot of flys on the food and in the buffet area.
We booked AluaSoul for a mini moon trip after our wedding. Looking at all the pictures online we thought this will be perfect - looks like a great location, great looking hotel, what could be better while on that wedding high!?
When we arrived the people on reception offered us a drink and asked us how our journey was, very nice and hospitable, a great start. We got all the ‘admin’ sorted and our bags were taken to our room, across the beach on the other side of the resort, not something I’ve seen before but with the beach location that comes with the territory and that wasn’t an issue.
We got to our room, after a long day of travelling and found our wristbands didn’t work and we couldn’t access our rooms - okay, these things happen! We went down our the reception in our building and lady on reception there could not seem more bothered we were there, chatting away with another member of staff and sat on her mobile phone, while we are standing there in a very hot and humid reception building just wanting to get into our room.
Eventually we got in, the room itself we had was actually very pleasant, bed was comfortable, room was spacious and the bathroom was great also - I think personally this was the best part of the hotel for sure. The room was always left clean and tidy which is always super appreciated.
The main swimming pool was good, no real complaints there. As we were on a special trip we paid extra everyday to use the ‘Bali Beds’ which were great and ensured we avoided the chaotic rush for beds in the morning - as seems to be the way at most hotels these days. I thought even though it’s an adults only hotel the lack on poolside entertainment was strange as it’s something I’ve seen at every other adults only I’ve been too, something that I think would’ve added to the experience and the atmosphere around the pool.
The drink offering is pretty average, but I suppose in-keeping with everything else. Any premium branded drinks of cocktails need paying for, not all, but some which when you pay the price we paid I thought was a bit unfair really.
The food offering - no other word for this than terrible unfortunately. Whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner it was just awful. Nothing has any taste, no seasoning at all, so much of the protein offerings were dry and just unpleasant to eat. The only saving grace from this side was the sushi/asian night where the sushi was nice, but not great, but at this point that was better than anything else. We actually found ourselves going out into Cala D’Or and spending money we hadn’t really accounted for, on some form of good food, which again, at the price we paid for our really didn’t feel good enough or something we should have to do.
Some of the staff were great with us, some just didn’t seem to care. As I said our initial welcome was great and filled us with high hopes. Staff in the restaurant were the best part of that experience for sure. Staff we dealt with at reception there after could be unhelpful. One example is we asked a couple of nights prior about if we could get an iron sent to our room for ironing a shirt and a dress, we were asked ‘is it for right now?’ It wasn’t but we thought we’d ask cause if they have to them we can get it, sort it and then not have to worry, after explaining this we were told ‘no, you can only get it when you need it - we have a lot of them so this will not be an issue’ Strange but okay - so then when the afternoon/evening came we needed it and asked the response was ‘we don’t have any available sorry - they get used a lot and you sometimes need to get them earlier.’ At this point you can imagine what the feeling is…so we resorted to hanging the items of clothing in the bathroom after a shower with the hope the residual steam will ‘iron out the creases.’
The price is another gripe for me, for the price we paid we expected a premium hotel, premium service and a premium offering and it couldn’t be any further from premium. Luckily the wedding high we were on made sure this trip wasn’t completely ruined but we came away straight away knowing we wouldn’t ever consider coming back, which is a real shame.
I wanted to give 3 stars, more in credit to the handful of helpful people we met on our stay but unfortunately the main majority of unhelpfulness and underwhelming food etc meant I couldn’t.
Some of the staff, seem as if they can't be bothered, bed sheets need changing more often, the Salt water shower is a no no, choice of drinks is poor, and you need to stop the saddos reserving sunbeds with their towels.
