Wouldn't recommend

As many have stated, the hotel is rundown. The food was average and some restaurant staff were quite abrupt. Lots of noise in the hallways at night time. Room was clean enough with zero amenities apart from a tiny kettle which had to be plugged in on the floor. TV was neither use nor ornament. Bedding and towels changed regularly and cleaning staff were very pleasant. 1 dead cockroach found one morning but as we were on the ground floor we suspected it would happen. Ants all over the balcony. We had a pool view and could watch the planes coming in which was nice. The actual area is beautiful and the beach being right there was a great bonus. Some lovely restaurants to visit, particularly OSheas. Even though we were all inclusive, we couldn't bare the same food every day so had to spend money out. We hired a car to explore the island and are so pleased we did. This allowed us to see how beautiful Lanzarote is and we will definitely be back but definitely not to this hotel.

Bad entertainment

Location excellent, happy with the holiday up until the 3rd night on the friday night and it was karaoke. My little girl ages 8 asked me and mom if she could sing, we obviously said yes, she went up to the man doing the karaoke entertainment ,we was within 3 metres of him and he said all the slots was taken up which upset my daughter but I told her that was the rules. But then he proceeded go to a number of girls who had already sang and asked them to sing again because there was still time. I asked him why he told my daughter there was no slots left he then started shouting and talking to me aggressively then having a go with his partner in Spanish and pointing at me ,i said mate im not arguing with you but he turned round and said well im arguing with you and continued to shout in front of everyone. Including children absolutely disgusting. If it wasn't in the the hotel and was in a bar outside the hotel I would have been abit more vocal and probably kicked of abit but I didn't want to get removed from the hotel . Absolutely disgusted with his attitude throwing his paper work around in temper. Very un professional

Not worth the price paid.

Our Two-Week Family Stay – Honest Review

We have just returned from a two-week stay at this hotel as a family of four, and I wanted to leave an honest review based on our experience.

🏊‍♀️ Pool Area

The pool area is definitely the nicest part of the hotel. However, even here, there were some areas that could be improved.

The pool itself was clean, but the surrounding area was not kept particularly well. The floor regularly had sand blowing across it, along with rubbish, and during our entire two-week stay we never saw it properly cleaned. The poolside bins were also overflowing at the end of most evenings and were still full the following morning, often not being emptied until around midday. This attracted a lot of flies, which became quite unpleasant.

The sunbeds were also very dirty and could really benefit from a good jet wash.

There was a “lifeguard” on duty, although unfortunately we didn’t feel they were particularly attentive. They sat on plastic chairs towards the back of the pool area, where both pools couldn’t be clearly seen, and rarely moved. The only time we really saw them taking action was when someone had a football or a large inflatable in the pool, at which point they would get security to ask them to remove it.

The security guard was more visible in the mornings and did try to prevent people from reserving sunbeds. Tickets were placed on beds stating that they couldn’t be reserved and that guests had one hour to return. However, this didn’t seem to be enforced consistently. We saw numerous beds with towels on them from around 7:30am until 3pm, despite nobody using them during that time.

🍽️ Food & Drink

Breakfast was definitely our favourite meal of the three. There was a good selection including cereals, fruit, pancakes, pastries, sausages, eggs, bacon, beans and more.

Lunch was okay, with options such as meat, pasta, rice, chips and pizza.

However, we found that the food served at lunch was generally repeated again at dinner that evening. After staying for two weeks, this became quite boring and repetitive.

There is a poolside snack bar, which mainly served chips, bread rolls and cold meats. There is also a fast-food section offering hot dogs, burgers and chicken burgers. Unfortunately, we didn’t rate the chicken burgers at all – they were very sloppy – and the standard burgers weren’t much better. The hot dogs were probably the only option from there that I would have been comfortable giving my children.

When we arrived we were asked would we like to book in for the all inclusive Chinese’s, bbq and Italian restaurant. We did and this was a waste of time the food was just what was served in the main restaurant.

As mentioned in quite a few other reviews, you have to pay €1 for a cup. However, you can return your used cup to the bar and receive a fresh one for your next drink. We used this system for cocktails and alcoholic drinks, but brought our own metal thermal cups for soft drinks, which were self-service for al inclusive however no ice creams where included you had to pay for these behind the bar.

The drinks being self-service was a positive, but the queues at the bar were still consistently long, often around 10 minutes. There simply didn’t seem to be enough staff, especially considering the size of the pool area, and having only one bar serving such a large number of guests made this even more noticeable.

They have on other bar open of a night which is the sports bar however this isn’t stated but you have to pay at this bar it isn’t included in your all inclusive again it’s ridiculous the amount of people staying and only one all inclusive bar.

🛏️ Rooms

The rooms are very dated and could definitely do with modernising, but I can’t fault the maids. Our room was kept clean throughout our stay, our bedding was changed several times, fresh towels were always provided and the bins were regularly emptied.

I requested a travel cot before arriving and this was provided, with a mattress placed inside, which we appreciated.

One major issue for us was the air conditioning. The hotel advertises air conditioning, but in reality it is more like a fan built into the wall and the air isn’t cold. This was particularly difficult for us travelling with a baby, especially during the hot weather. We were told by the hotel that all of their additional fans had been rented out, which really highlighted how inadequate the existing system is.

If you’re travelling with young children, I would also be aware of the layout of the rooms. Ours was separated by a low ledge and two steps, which was a big concern with a baby who has only just started walking. We had to use suitcases to block off the ledge and stairs whenever he was walking around, as otherwise there was a genuine risk of him falling and hurting himself. In our opinion, this isn’t particularly child-friendly.

🎤 Entertainment

Unfortunately, this was probably the biggest disappointment for us.

During the day, the animation team would come around the pool, do a short dance and tell guests about the activities taking place. However, the majority of the activities appeared to be aimed at adults, with very little available for children during the day.

The kids’ club is located underground, around the corner from the restaurant. At other hotels we’ve stayed at, our daughter has been able to attend kids’ clubs while we sit nearby in a shaded area where we can see her. This wasn’t possible here. You simply leave your child at the entrance, sign them in and they play around the corner, with no windows or visibility for parents. Because of this, my daughter didn’t attend the kids’ club at all during our stay.

The evening entertainment wasn’t much better. The children’s disco started at 8:30pm in the only bar open in the evening. The area is underground, crowded and very warm, with nowhere near enough seating for the number of guests.

After the kids’ disco, the entertainment varied, but unfortunately our children found much of it boring. One evening there was opera singing, which obviously wasn’t particularly entertaining for young children.

A lot of the seating also didn’t have a good view of the stage, and once again the queue for the bar was very long due to there only being one bar open.

The hotel really needs to consider having more than one bar open at a time. There are so many areas around the hotel that could potentially be used as outdoor bars or additional seating areas, but unfortunately they seem to be going to waste.

There is also an underground arcade, which was a nice idea, but it was constantly overcrowded because there simply wasn’t enough other entertainment for children in the evenings. They have an outdoor mini golf which was good and you just get your clubs from reception.

🌴 Hotel Grounds

The hotel grounds have so much potential but really need more attention when it comes to cleanliness and maintenance.

As mentioned, the pool area is lovely but is unfortunately let down by the lack of cleaning.

The children’s park was another disappointment. The hotel advertises having a children’s play area, but we found it to be in quite poor condition and, in our opinion, not particularly safe for young children. The equipment is mainly wooden and some of the wood was split, while the metal slide became extremely hot in the sun.

The hotel has a waterfall running underground by the restaurant however this was only on once during our stay. The lifts were a big problem also. Constantly not working or breaking which was not great when you have a pram.

We didn’t see any children using the park during our stay. Instead, most families seemed to take their children across to the beach park on the promenade, which was much nicer.

📍 Location

The location of the hotel is definitely one of its biggest positives.

It’s right on the beach promenade, next to the park and a small shopping centre which has a Spar. There are also lots of local restaurants, including Indian and Chinese restaurants, kebab shops and bars.

Hotel is very close to the airport and you will see planes landing and taking off during the day. My son absolutely loved this and it was the highlight of his holiday. This did not disturb our sleep as the last flight is around 10pm.

During our second week, we actually ate out most evenings and went for walks and drinks because we found the hotel didn’t offer enough in terms of evening entertainment.

Walking along the promenade, we noticed several other hotels with lovely outdoor bars and much more going on in the evenings, and these are hotels we would potentially consider for future trips.

⭐ Overall

Overall, I think this hotel has so much potential, which is what makes some of the issues even more disappointing.

If we had been offered it as a cheap last-minute week away, I think it would have been okay and we probably wouldn’t have had as many complaints.

However, considering what we paid for a two-week family holiday, we didn’t feel it represented good value for money. There are some good aspects – particularly the location, clean pools and hardworking housekeeping staff – but there are also several areas that really need improvement.

For us, the biggest issues were the lack of proper air conditioning, limited children’s entertainment, lack of evening facilities, queues at the bar, cleanliness around the pool and the condition of the children’s play area.

It’s a shame because the hotel has a fantastic location and the potential to be a really great family resort if more attention was given to maintenance, cleanliness, entertainment and facilities.

💡 Tips if you’re staying here

• Bring your own reusable cup/thermal cup for soft drink refills. • Visit the beach park early in the morning or around 8pm – it’s much cooler and quieter for children. • We recommend trying Fu Gui, Pride of India, Kebab House and O’Shea’s Bar at the local shopping centre. • Pool shoes are a good idea as the floor gets extremely hot and there were areas where the flooring was crumbling, which could potentially cut your feet. • If you can, take a portable fan with you – the hotel’s “air conditioning” isn’t particularly effective.

Another top visit.

Stayed here many times over the years and this visit didn’t disappoint. Emailed the hotel 2 weeks before citing return customers and could we have a sea view. On arrival at the hotel and book in desk we were told your room is ready and were given 3 complimentary spa tickets, On arrival at the room again it did not disappoint, one of the new refurbished rooms and absolutely spotless. The day after a letter under the door thanking us for our return visit and anything we needed just contact Martin who is the customer liaison manager and a nice guy to boot. We have never had a bad visit here and some of the reviews are wide of the mark, food wise more than enough to choose from and staff very friendly and accommodating, would definitely stay here again.

A disappointing Hotel

Our One-Week Family Stay – Honest Review

We have just returned from a one-week stay at this hotel as a family of four, and I wanted to leave an honest review based on our experience.

🏊‍♀️ Pool Area

The pool area is definitely the nicest part of the hotel. However, there were some areas that need improvement.

The pool itself was clean, but the surrounding area was not kept particularly well. The floor regularly had rubbish blowing across it, and during our stay we never saw it properly cleaned, not like other hotels we’ve stayed in where cleaning of communal areas was constant. The poolside bins were overflowing at the end of the day and were still full the following morning, often not being emptied until around midday.

The sunbeds were also very dirty and could really benefit from a jet wash. We never saw these cleaned once during our stay, whereas other places we’ve been too, the sunbeds have been cleaned down every morning.

There was a “lifeguard” on duty everyday, although, mostly sat on their phones not taking much notice of what was going on. The security guards seemed to police the pool more than the lifeguard, we saw security often remove large inflatables from the pool, whilst the lifeguard sat back oblivious doom scrolling. The security guard did try to prevent people from reserving sunbeds. Tickets were placed on beds stating that they couldn’t be reserved and that guests had one hour to return. However, this didn’t seem to be enforced. The entertainment team also frequently gave out over microphones that large inflatables were forbidden & reserving of sunbeds was not allowed. We never had an issue with finding a sunbed, there appeared to be plenty available, although often very tightly packed in because the pool area isn’t big enough for the size of the hotel & number of guests.

🍽️ Food & Drink

Breakfast was definitely the better meal of the day. There was a good selection including cereals, fruit, pancakes, pastries, sausages, eggs, bacon, beans and more. It was never switched up though, it was the same everyday. No variation at all. Lunch was okay, with options such as meat, pasta, rice, chips and pizza. However, we found that the food served at lunch was repeated again at dinner that evening. All inclusive are always samey, but this truly was the same food day in, day out on repeat. There was no variation & no themed nights to break up the repetitiveness of the food offered. There is a poolside snack bar, which served chips, bread rolls and cold meats, no real difference to the main restaurant. There is also a fast-food style burger bar offering hot dogs, burgers and chicken burgers, even this got samey after a few days of trying to find something a little more interesting to eat. The service was also very slow - often taking up to an hour to order & receive your food. When we arrived we were asked would we like to book in for the all inclusive Chinese’s, bbq and Italian restaurant. The Chinese was already fully booked before arriving, which was disappointing. We did book the BBQ and Italian, we very quickly realised this was a waste of time as the food was just what was served in the main restaurant, so we cancelled the Italian & chose to eat out instead. The waitressing staff are really miserable, even when saying hello, good morning, etc - many of them ignore you & look like they don’t really enjoy their job or want to be there. We witnessed many a disagreement between waiting staff too, which were quite heated, with them shouting at one another.

Food service is very set, breakfast 08:00-10:15, lunch 13:00-15;00, evening meal 18:30-22:15, burger bar 13:00-15:00. Pool bar 13:00-15:00. There’s no snacks available all inclusive in between these times particularly, maybe the odd tray of pasties left over from breakfast or a few rolls left over from lunch, but nothing much & it went very quickly & wasn’t refilled - again, the only all inclusive we’ve been too where food hasn’t been available almost all day. There are large gaps when nothing is available, which is more like full board rather than all inclusive. The food without a doubt let this hotel down, it was very poor.

You have to pay €1 for a cup. However, we brought our own cups for soft drinks, which were self-service for all inclusive.

This is the only all inclusive we have been too where there is no ice creams included, you had to pay for these behind the bar.

Soft drinks, beer & wine were self-service, but often ran out & didn’t work, which meant queuing at the bar. The queues at the bar were still consistently long, often around 10 minutes. There didn’t seem to be enough staff, especially considering the size of the pool area, and having only one bar serving such a large number of guests made this even more noticeable.

They have onother bar which is the sports bar however, you have to pay at this bar it isn’t included in your all inclusive. We only saw the sports bar open twice during our week stay. It’s disappointing the amount of people staying and only one all inclusive bar.

🛏️ Rooms

The rooms are very dated and could definitely do with modernising. Our room was kept clean throughout our stay, bedding was changed several times, fresh towels were always provided. We traveled as a family with two children, we had plenty of room for all of us. One issue for us was the air conditioning. It is more like a fan built into the wall and the air isn’t cold. This also leaked in our room, into the wardrobes so all of our clothes got wet & it was stagnant, brown water. We reported this 3 times throughout our week stay, but it was never fixed. This was particularly difficult because it leaked into the wardrobe, it meant we were unable to use it to hang/store our clothes. The reception staff did offer to wash the clothes that got wet & free of charge, however because the leak was never fixed, we were left with nowhere to store our clothing once cleaned, so lived out of our suitcase. We arrived late at night, there was a kettle in the room, but no tea/coffee making facilities or water. By the time we arrived, the bars had shut, so we had no way of getting a drink or water. It was very disappointing & unexpected. We went to reception to ask where we could get a drink, to be told everything had closed for the night. We also had no access to food that night, which was less than ideal after a long day of travel with children. We went out & brought some water & snacks from the spar shop not far from the hotel.

🎤 Entertainment

During the day, the animation team would come around the pool, do a short dance and tell guests about the activities taking place. However, the majority of the activities appeared to be aimed at adults, with very little available for children during the day.

There is a kids’ club, our children were too old to want to use it, so cannot comment on what it is like.

The evening entertainment appeared to be varied, we didn’t really use it as we tended to go off site of an evening to local bars. We went in the first night we were there but there wasn’t enough seats for the number of guests at the hotel, the queue for a drink was trailing around the room & out of the door, so we didn’t bother to go again. We also found it to be very hot because there’s no air conditioning & it’s on the basement level, underground. There are plenty of bars and restaurants a short walk along the promenade, so we used these instead.

The hotel would benefit from utilising the grounds/space more. Having more than one bar open at a time. There are so many areas around the hotel that could be used as outdoor bars or additional seating areas, but the space it has hasn’t been well utilised.

🌴 Hotel location

The hotel location is one of the positives. It’s about 10 minutes from the airport, which for some could be a problem as it can be noisy with planes flying in & out constantly. We didn’t mind this, it became like white noise in the end & being so close to planes landing was entertaining, particularly if you’re into plane spotting! It’s right on the beach promenade, next to the park and a small shopping centre which has a Spar. There are also lots of local restaurants, including Indian and Chinese restaurants and bars. We ate our 3 times during our stay. We highly recommend Asia Luma, the food was amazing & very reasonable.

⭐ Overall

Overall, I think this hotel has potential, but definitely isn’t the 4* quality it was advertised as at the time of booking. It’s now been downgraded to a 3* but even that is generous. The all inclusive aspect is disappointing, there’s more not included than there is included. It felt more like a half board/full board set up than an all inclusive.

This hotel is in a fantastic location and has the potential to be a really great family resort if more attention was given to maintenance, cleanliness & facilities. We made the most our holiday, but would absolutely not choose to return to this hotel.

💡 Tips if you’re staying here

• Bring your own reusable cup for soft drink refills. • We recommend eating out at Asia Luma, along the promenade. • Lower your expectations with the all inclusive aspect. It really isn’t all inclusive
