This was our second visit, we stayed last September and enjoyed it so much we came back this year.
We had a great time but we did notice that there were a few changes.
We requested Block 5 which we got and this was great, overlooking the Adult Pool. Room clean and tidy. We did not request a late check out this time, we were due out at 11. at 10.45 cleaners opening our door... not great. Last year we paid for a late 3pm check out, they did the same, opened door at 2.45. It's not ideal when you are just finishing up.
I have noticed bad reviews about the food, we enjoyed it. We did think lunch time was better then evenings - no idea why. But the salads and fresh fruits are abundant and there is more than enough choices. Really enjoy the fresh bread at breakfast and the choice of seeds/nuts/yoghurts.
I had one main gripe. We were AI and we noticed it last year. There is virtually no alcohol in the offerings. We tested it out this year by ordering a Malibu on the rocks, when we sipped it there is no flinch, no alcohol in there. Did ask the bar staff to look at the bottles and it did show an alcohol content. Now we are no means wanting to sit and get wrecked every day, but we do enjoy a cocktail by the pool and it is what you pay for. We paid last year for a proper Tia Maria and Disaronno, they were €1.20 (not on the AI), this year they are €3.40! Really disappointed in this.
This year we booked the shower room as we did not want to pay for late check out. You leave your luggage by main reception but have to go to the shower room by the Coral Pool, nowhere near your luggage! The room is just boiling!!! Why don't you make it close together so you can grab your cases, get showered and changed and put your old clothes/toiletries in your suitcases, it makes no sense.
On the plus side we enjoyed our stay, the staff are so friendly, everything is spotlessly clean, the entertainment team work very hard.
We met some lovely people. Shout out to the Dancing Queens (you know who you are if you are reading this) and the great gang of Poles ran by the lovely Marcel whom we had so much fun with. White Party was fun too.
If you have a late flight no room is offered to freshen up in - was happy to pay - hotel was not full
Location was ok. The atmosphere at the hotel was non existsent. The bar at night was very boring inside. Outside when the show came on at 9.30 was good but not enough table and chairs. There was nowhere comfortable to sit. Very disappointing. The rooms are very spacious and spotless. Not my ideal as all open plan with the shower and toilet and bedroom. The restaurants were more like canteens. The food was very repetitive and never hot. Always just warm. It was a challenge to get any of the staff to have eye contact to ask for a drink. One member of staff actually held his hand up to my face as if to say I’m busy (cleating table!) Did not feel like it was all inclusive at all. I asked the member of staff if I could have my coffee pods and milk replenished after our second day to be told no. You only get one on arrival. As I am a early riser and the restaurant didn’t open till 8.30 for breakfast I couldn’t get a hot drink. Over all our experience was not great and could not recommend.
It is our last day here and we have had a good time mostly, the hotel is situated in a good area, it is very clean, the staff are great, the rooms are nice and spacious and the showers are excellent . The only issue is the food,and particularly the breakfast ,its so repetitive and of poor choice and quality,we asked for the freshly squeezed orange juice yesterday, Saturday and we were told that they don't do it at the weekend! So guests don't come at the weekend? The evening meal was ok some days and not some days. Overall the hotel is good but the food really let's it down.
After a 3rd visit in 3 years I’m sad to say it would probably be my last in the current climate. Still a very good hotel, and all the bar/waiting staff are first class. Loved Erik but I must say, the new guest relations manager was really nice. Found the new entertainment set up a bit of a disappointment if I’m truly honest with it now being overwhelmingly French orientated.
From what I understand, Lookea block book rooms and fill them and have their own entertainment team alongside the hotel team. Nothing wrong with that but that doesn’t mean you need to have French only entertainment/drinks in my opinion. Found previously all nationalities mixed in and was inclusive but that certainly wasn’t the case this time so we didn’t really feel welcome to join in. We did join in where we could, but at the end of our stay, despite my daughter playing cornhole all week with the hotel team, the French animation team then told her she couldn’t play as it was adult only. It’s a poolside game she had played all week just throwing a bean bag into a hole………come on!!! For this reason I would be unlikely to return which is a shame as our family have made many memories here. The hotel entertainment put on some brilliant shows, and Emilia in acui club is an absolute diamond. Hopefully the current policy will change so we can return
