The family-friendly hotel Sol Lanzarote is perfectly situated in a peaceful location in Matagorda, frontline to the sandy beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Guests will appreciate a wonderful pool landscape; part of the hotel is designed in a Flintstones style, with themed rooms and a themed restaurant as well as a Flintstones Bazaar. A shopping centre is only 200 metres away; the popular holiday resort of Puerto del Carmen is easily reachable by public transportation. An ideal hotel for families with children who wish to spend a beach holiday. We would like to inform you that the time has come to proceed with the repair of our three pools to offer a modern and functional product. For all this we wanted to inform you that we have decided, for the best achievement of this repair and above all to avoid inconvenience to our customers and partners, proceed to the temporary closure of this pool from the day 12/11/2020 with an estimated duration of 1 month. We are delighted to inform that the hotel will have another 2 swimming pools available and all the services will run as normal within the new reality adapted to the Covid-19 under the program Stay Safe with Melia.
Family of 4, kids 4 and 7. A very enjoyable experience.
The rooms are large and cleaned daily with replacement towels. Tv had English channels, originally had BBC channels which was good as could see World Cup games and also CBeebies but the BBC channels disappeared. Donβt go on holiday for TV channels but was good to keep kids occupied when getting them out the sun in the afternoon for a bit.
Food, was repetitive and little variation for younger kids. It was pasta or chips. If you like sea food youβll love it. That said we always found something to eat and the foot was decent. If you go expecting 5 star food for a 3 or 4 star hotel youβll be disappointed. If you go realising itβs a 3 or 4 star hotel youβll be happy with whatβs on offer (the cakes were amazing).
Self service wines, sangria and beers on taps plus soft drinks. Beach bar serves cocktails also. Take a thermal cup to keep your drinks cool. You get given tokens to exchange for cups that you need to keep. But drinks get warm in those quickly.
Pools are large and one is very deep (2.4m).
Can be very slippery round the pools. Iβd recommend having swim shoes on for kids as saw a few people slip.
There is no reserving of sun beds. Signs all over saying not to. Theyβre roped off. Pool doesnβt open until 10am. However people do try to flout the rules. And a few occasions I saw the manager and other staff remove towels or tell people to remove them. It does mean thereβs a mad dash when the pool opens to get loungers. Some people seem to think theyβre entitled to the same loungers each day. I think it was going to get worse as we were leaving as it coincided with both Scottish and English schools being off so going to be busier.
By far the best thing about this hotel is the entertainment team and lifeguards.
Lorenzo is larger than life and tries to keep people entertained. As do the rest of the entertainment team whose names I canβt recall. Nestor is also good for fun. Activities for adults include water biking (spin in the water), Pilates, yoga, beach football. Kids club seems good son went once and enjoyed it. Minimum age 5 years old. On a Friday there was an inflatable in the pool, paddle boarding etc. Maria was very good as a Pilates teacher.
The highlight though was Juan Pablo (or John Peter as he said his name was), one of the lifeguards. Heβs firm but fair. Always on the lookout for everyone. If youβve got younger kids he tries to get you a parasol. He has fun with the kids as well. When it was the inflatable day if kids had swimming aids he jumped into the pool so they could enjoy the fun and waited at the bottom of the slide to make sure they were safe.
The beachfront location was excellent as was being so close to the airport.
I would return.
Absolutely amazing. Been here 6 times and never lets me and my family down. The hotel is unreal. The atmosphere is amazing. Rooms are clean and well done. The value is perfect. The noise level is not to loud and not to quiet, it is just right. The service in brilliant lovely staff and lovely places to walk abt to. The location is the best as it is looking out to the sea which the water is blue. Definitely recommend this place for a holiday.
Very pleasant experience Lorenzo and the life guards where amazing
Great place, food was good, great staff, enjoyed playing darts with lorenzo, great guy ππ»
Last day at Sol Lanzerote and itβs been amazing! Came as a family of 4, I have a 20 year old, 18 year old and a 4 year old and there was something for everyone. Always managed to get a sun bed although it is frustrating people leaving their towels there all day when theyβre not even using the pool area . Staff are all so friendly and helpful, rooms cleaned daily and they are a good size, lots of space. Was dreading the food after reading the reviews but there was really nothing to worry about, huge variety. Even the snack bar had a good selection (cakes are amazing!) close to everything you need, lovely walk across the sea front day and night and plenty to see either direction . The only thing I can fault is the kids entertainment through the day, there is a kids club but we didnβt use it so there wasnβt much else for her to do other than the pool. They did a foam party one day though and she loved that! They had a kids disco some nights and Lorenzo is fantastic with everyone but itβs only on for half an hour and itβs not the best with the same few songs sang etc. Loved the photographer, really nice guy and fantastic at making the kids laugh so you can get some really good photos of your holiday. Amazing place would definitely recommend
