NEVER AGAIN

I have been going on all-inclusive holidays for 10 years, trying to find something better every year. This year, just when I thought I’d have another great time in Lanzarote, I ended up in this hotel... This hotel is one big joke. The rooms are awful, smelly, and dirty. The whole hotel smells of dampness, especially near the show bar and in the restaurant on the bar side. You can even see mold in the plant pots on that same side, and the plates in the restaurant are dirty... The food is repetitive. As for the rooms, mine was on the second floor: dirty carpets, dirty walls, mold around the air conditioning vent (which didn't work), filthy armchairs that smelled terrible, and a dirty table on the balcony... POOL AREA The hotel has a large pool split into two sections: one small (heated) and one large (unheated). The area around the pool is dirty and wasn't cleaned for several days. There was no soap in the poolside toilet for my entire stay, and there are not enough sunbeds. The pool opens at 9:30 AM, and if you don't take part in the morning rush, there are no spots left by 9:40 AM—and the staff couldn't care less... It's also worth noting that the pool bar is the only one open in the whole hotel from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, which leads to long, 15-minute queues for a drink. On top of that, you have to pay €1 for a cup if you don't bring your own... This was the absolute worst way I have ever spent my money. The staff is rude—when I tried to exchange my beach towel after three days, I was sent to reception and asked to describe the dirt on my towel because, according to hotel policy, you only get one for the entire stay... I won't even get started on the bartenders: on my first day, right after arriving, I tipped a bartender €5, and he didn't even say thank you. I WARN EVERYONE AGAINST THIS HOTEL!!! Do not waste your money.

Awful

Seriously the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. Avoid at all costs! Paid for A I and barely used it. Food is edible, just about, same mediocre think every day/night. Snack bar is a joke, and drinks are terrible. Rooms are terribly dated, with smelly carpets. Also these same carpets are throughout the hotel. Could not even sit in the bar of an evening as it's so smelly. Staff are very rude in the dining area. Also no chance of getting a sunbed, didn't get a chance to sit and relax around the pool. People all run out for sunbeds and leave towels on sunbeds for hours at a time without even using them. If i could give zero stars i would. Won't be returning EVER!!

Do not recommend

When first arriving to the hotel with family the reception looked nice until we went further into the hotel to see there was old looking carpets all around the entertainment and bar area as well as in the hallways and hotel rooms. The minute we went in these areas there was a horrible smell coming from the carpets. We couldn’t sit in the entertainment area or have drinks in the bar area because of the smell. The rooms are very outdated and the furniture is broken with a broken cupboard in our room to get to the fridge and the doors and door frames are rotting. At the pool area it’s impossible to get a sunbed me and my mum had to sit on a wooden bench by the pool whilst all sunbeds had towels on with no one using them. The cue to get drinks was so long and the snack bar was literally some tiny baguettes with a bit of cucumber on. We went all inclusive and the food was ok but it was the same things pretty much every day and the soft drinks tasted very flat. We had to eat out pretty much every day because the food wasn’t enjoyable and we went the beach a lot because we couldn’t relax at the pool area in the hotel. The staff were not very friendly and overall the atmosphere wasn’t good at all. The location is about a 20 minute walk to the main square and beach and you can get a taxi for €5. Overall I would not recommend this hotel it doesn’t seem like a 4 star hotel at all.

Very nice hotel

6 of us have just returned from a week at this hotel. First impressions are very good, it’s a big modern hotel with lots of open space and nice big pools. Restaurant is spacious and food is generally good and plentiful. It is very warm though as not AC due to the fact that it is open to the balcony overlooking the evening bar. The much vaunted waterfall was switched off during our stay, which was a shame and probably helps keep the restaurant cool. Piano bar is nice and cooler. Pool Bar is ok and snacks are nice. Rooms are nice with pool views but they were too hot to sit out on in July. Bathroom is big and clean. We had endless problems with our room safe, needing an engineer twice. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only gripe is that the shuttle to the seafront and shops only goes 3 times a day and it’s not clear where to catch the return one. It’s a walkable trip down to the beach but a hot uphill climb back! Not recommended in the heat! Very good overall 😎👍

Generally very happy with one or two observations

Stayed here at the end of July. Our suite had clearly been very recently renovated, we were really pleased with it. No carpet in sight, roomy and modern, with 2 spacious balconies. Only quibble would be there was a kettle provided and yet no cups and the fridge was too small for full-size bottles of drinks. Very minor observations! As for the rest of the hotel, I found it to be very clean, grand looking in style and well maintained for the most part, however some areas had seen much better days, for eg in certain parts of the seating area in the Niagara bar particularly at the ‘spa’ end. Kids arcade was unfortunately too small, lacked a range of working machines or choice. Would have been nice to have been able to sit and have drinks during the daytime in the hotel itself. The only choice was the bar across the pool area, which was busy with swimmers getting their poolside refreshments. I was sadly surprised (especially after reading reviews) to find there was a shortage of sunbeds. One of the selling points for me, other than the pool itself which is the jewel in the crown of this hotel, was reading that there are plenty of loungers/sunbeds for everyone. Not the case for the duration of our stay, at least. I suspect many had been taken away- noted a couple of broken ones-as there were entire sections around the pool which would’ve made sense to have sunbeds positioned in, which were left as redundant spaces. After a couple of days we realised it would have to be a case of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ as guests would rush to secure their spots then reserve them with towels and clips whether they intended to use them at that point in time or have them on standby for later use (staff should have a policy whereby if a lounger has been left for hours with no sign of towel owner, they should be freed up for people who are actually looking to use it). Strangely, there was a whole bar area next door to the restaurant which we didn’t see open once, and countless units downstairs near the shops which weren’t put to use. The shops didn’t sell groceries which was a shame. Not a hardship for us as a trip down to Spar is doable enough but wouldn’t be for everyone. Most staff were lovely and attentive, one or two seemed impatient, abrupt and eye-rolled when you weren’t quick enough communicating your order in perfect Spanish, as a tourist on holiday. However I did note that these young men were working long hours, around the hotel in a variety of roles so I sympathise. On to the food: there were ample amounts, with a vast variety of choice comprising different sections and themes catering to all but the pickiest eater. It’s not like at home, because you’re not at home. And even it’s only salads and chips you’re after, you’ll find plenty of them, with regular replenishment. At breakfast and dinner there are about 5-6 different kinds of breads and baguettes as standard. Spreads, condiments, dips, all being plentiful. Last but not least, I must be the odd one out on this, but being on the very top floor, my heart was in my mouth at certain points when I could hear children running excitedly down the corridors, as the walls are not very high at all, over which is open space from the top to the marble bottom of the hotel. This huge atrium, as impressive and open as it is, is not for the faint-hearted when looking down and considering the safety of the walls (flimsy wooden ‘fencing’ add about a foot of extra height but aren’t robust).
