Beatriz Costa and Spa

We stayed at Beatriz Costa & Spa for 10 nights with our child and overall we were very happy with our holiday. Before travelling, I had read quite a few negative reviews and honestly I was a little worried, but our experience turned out to be much better than I expected.

The room: Our room was large, clean and extremely quiet. Yes, it could do with some updating, especially the carpet, but this did not affect our holiday at all. Our room was cleaned every day and we received fresh towels daily. The beds were comfortable. The pillows were a little too small for me, although this is probably just a personal preference as I normally sleep with two pillows at home. We also had a beautiful view.

A special thank you to the reception staff. We asked for a quiet room and they really listened to our request. Our room was so peaceful that sometimes it felt like we were staying on a deserted island! We really appreciated this.

Food: We enjoyed the food. It was tasty and there was always something to eat. After reading some of the reviews before our holiday, I expected it to be much worse, so personally I don’t really understand all the complaints about the main restaurant food.

The poolside snacks, however, were disappointing. There were mainly a few sandwiches and sweet pastries. I expected more typical All Inclusive snacks such as burgers, chips/fries, chicken nuggets and hot dogs. Also, the buffet closes at 12:00 while they prepare the food for lunch.

Drinks: This was another area that could be improved. The All Inclusive cocktails come from a machine, while you have to pay extra for better cocktails. I also think having self-service stations for water and beer would help reduce the queues at the bar. That said, the staff work very quickly and do their best to keep the queues moving.

Restaurant and staff: The restaurant was clean and the staff worked incredibly quickly. Tables were constantly cleared and reset. The staff throughout the hotel were polite, friendly and always smiling, even when you could see how busy and tired they were.

Hotel and pool area: This is where I think the hotel needs the most improvement. There are areas around the pool that could be cleaner, some of the tiles are cracked, and the sun loungers are old and not always clean. The hotel in general would benefit from renovation and updating. Even replacing the old carpets would make a big difference.

However, if you don’t focus on these imperfections, you can absolutely have a very enjoyable holiday here.

Entertainment was a little weak for us, although this is very subjective and everyone looks for different things on holiday.

The location was absolutely fine for us. It takes around 15–20 minutes to walk into the centre of Costa Teguise. Before travelling I had read reviews saying that the walk was difficult, but we didn’t find this to be the case at all. We actually enjoyed the walk.

Would we return? Yes. If the price suited our budget again, I would definitely consider staying here another time.

Overall, I would give Beatriz Costa & Spa 9/10. I have taken one point off mainly because of the cleanliness and condition of some areas around the pool. The hotel definitely needs some updating, but this did not stop us from having a very enjoyable holiday.

We are currently at the hotel on day 3 of our 10 day stay with three children (4,12 and 15)

The hotel has been great so far. We have two spacious rooms with a lovely bathroom and strong shower. Beds are comfortable and the view is great.

The pool is huge with one pool also heated which can be a help when it gets windy. The staff around the pool are lovely. The loungers have been fine for us this far. The 09:30 rush is amusing and not something we partake in. That said, every day we have managed to get a lounger or two with ease.

Crazy golf, football, tennis, play park, bowls, chess all can be played on site and we have played a few times already.

We had read comments regarding drinks and cup rental before we came so bought our own Stanley flasks and insulated cups which staff were more than happy to fill. The soft drinks, wine and beer and good (dont really partake in cocktails so can't comment).

The pool bar does occasionally have a queue but it's never been particularly long. The food in the restaurant all three days has been good and varied, queues can be long but again moves quickly. The kids have always had something to eat (lasagne, spaghetti Bolognese, pizza, chicken strips, Chinese, curry, meat, fish and more), plus plenty of deserts.

Evening time the entertainment is ok, my 4yo loves it (it's not for me lol).

Yes there are a couple little niggles, some cracked tiles, noisy at times, some carpets and glass need cleaning more (or renewing) but if you focus on that and not the positives you really should consider relaxing more.

We haven't used the spa so can't comment on that

Stayed here for a week with our friends and family. 13 of us in total and the whole week has been brilliant!! The location is perfect as your far away from all the other resorts but close enough for a 15 minute walk to the beach where there are plenty of places to have a drink and shop. The hotel lays on a free bus for this but the walk is fairly easy if you didn't want to use it. Hotel is clean and tidy amd looks pretty impressive when you first arrive. We saw a lot of negative reviews on this place leading up to our holiday and all I will say is anyone having second thought DON'T. You will miss out on a great hotel. The main attraction of course is the pools and the pool area. It is without doubt one of the best pool experiences we have had as a family. All of us in our group enjoyed the variety in pool depths and the lively atmosphere all day every day. The animation team work hard all day and are excellent with guests of all ages. The pool area is kept clean and there are plenty of bins scattered about the place so no excuses for being a mess. Saw some reviews saying the place was filthy. This is not the hotel this is filthy lazy guests that have no respect for the hard work that goes on here. They are currently renovating the hotel from the top down so rooms are being upgraded all the time. We stayed in one of the older rooms and yes it was dated and definitely needs a good upgrade but again it was clean and the cleaners came every day to freshen everything up. The only real negative we found was the food left us a bit wanting. Plenty of variety but it was all a bit "Meh' to be completely honest. Breakfast was the best meal of the day and there was a Chinese themed night once and that was the best food all week. The pool bar offers different food on different days but you can always get a roll or some sweet treats everyday, again plenty for everyone. And again this is our personal opinion it may not be yours so don't be put off. All in all a great week and obviously great weather. Would we come again? Definitely yes. The pools are the real show stopper here and that makes up for a couple of small negatives so we will definitely return in the future.
