A Mixed Return Visit — Some Highlights, but Restaurant Standards Have Dropped

We returned to Barceló Teguise Beach after previously having fantastic stays, so it’s disappointing to say this visit didn’t meet the same standard.

Reception & Room Reception staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite, which we appreciated, but unfortunately the view was extremely poor — directly overlooking a service area where staff congregated to smoke throughout the day, including staff from the hotel and neighbouring restaurants. This made the upgrade feel far less special.

Housekeeping & Cleanliness Housekeeping remains outstanding.
The hotel is immaculate, with incredible attention to detail. Rooms and public areas are spotless, and the housekeeping team clearly work very hard. This part of the hotel still feels luxurious

Entertainment Entertainment at Champs Bar was excellent.
The Tina Turner tribute was genuinely world‑class — one of the best performances we’ve seen at the hotel.

Restaurant Experience — A Significant Decline This is where the stay fell short.

• Guests were eating dinner in swimwear, crocs, wrap‑around skirts, vests
• Several people were watching TV shows on their phones at the dinner table
• Others were walking around the buffet eating from their plates
• Food labels were often incorrect or mixed up
• There weren’t enough staff to clear tables, and we repeatedly had to ask for a table to be cleaned before sitting

The atmosphere felt chaotic and far below the standard we’ve previously experienced here. It didn’t resemble a luxury adults‑only hotel — more like a 2‑star dining experience.

Barceló Teguise Beach still has areas of excellence — reception, housekeeping, and entertainment — but the restaurant standards and guest behaviour have declined sharply, and it impacted the entire stay.

Sadly, based on this visit, we doubt we will return, which is a real shame given how much we previously loved this hotel

Location was brilliant. The atmosphere of the hotel was lovely and we are so glad we booked adults only. The room we had was a little disappointing, though not the hotel’s fault it was one of the only ones left available. It had a sea view which was nice but unfortunately it had a bad smell when on the balcony and was right above the Champs Bar so could be loud. Could have used touch ups in the bathroom. Hotel mini bar not included even though you get the same drinks in the buffet restaurant. Still waiting for an “invoice” for what we used which worries me a little as I did want to just pay at reception when we left. We were a little confused how the all inclusive worked; we only ate at the breeze and buffet restaurant. When it says “snacks available” this was unclear other than ice-cream as the breeze bar is sit down only. Drinks options were good but had to wait a while for them in a queue during the day. Next time we are thinking of doing half-board only as we didn’t feel like we fully utilise the all inclusive and it makes it expensive! This was due to us having excursions on a few days too and only staying 5 nights. I would recommend buying a big bottle of water from a local shop and having a bottle to refill (which the staff would do for you). The food itself was really good, both in the buffet and breeze bar. The Champs Bar had more options but was also open to the public. The pools were gorgeous and there was always sunbeds, though not always in a great location (gotta be early). However there is clear signage that you cannot reserve sunbeds and hotel staff will check after an hour, so that’s really positive. We do wish the pool was open a bit later (closed between 7pm and 9am) as a more night time swim would have been nice after we got back from spending the day outside the hotel. The beach close by was also lovely! Plenty of shops and other places to eat and drink within short walking distance. Staff were lovely and helpful. We are hoping to rebook next summer!
