We are on night 9 out of 10 nights in this hotel. We are all inclusive. Overall we are very disappointed in our stay at this hotel. There are 2 sides of this hotel, one looks like a 4 star, the others is more like a 2 star. How they can get away with calling this a 4 star hotel is beyond a joke.
The food for all inclusive is terrible , options really poor, meats are cheap cuts, food is bland and no theme nights, more or less the same food for both lunch and dinner.
The flies are a major issue also, landing on food inside the restaurant which is a huge health hazard.
Overall it’s a poor option for a hotel in Lanzarote. We will not be returning. I have been reading reviews to ignore bad reviews etc, as some can be misleading, but trust me this is far from a misleading review. The cost of this hotel for all inclusive and what they offer is criminal.
Also having restaurants on site that are not included in all inclusive, with which is a premium price, is just not on whatsoever .
Bathroom door is also constantly broke despite maintenance fixing it 4 times in The past 9 days.
Broken tiles and generally run down across the resort. I expect better from Barceló.
Poor experience and stay well clear.
Be careful when booking this “4 star” hotel. Half the hotel is situated across a busy road. The hotel is very dated, unsafe wobbly balcony bars, dirty corridors, furniture grubby, lonely dark floors to rooms that are not accessible for the physically unable. It’s lunchtime and the choice of lunch at the pool bar is 2 salads, or onions rings or hot dogs. Beer tap isn’t working and the coffee machine broken. (See pics!) There’s a secret club called the “Royal” where a select number of people can upgrade - we had no idea about this option and now it’s full - so we couldn’t upgrade to this facility. There’s also 2 pools closed - for refurb??? (It’s the height of summer peak season - surely do this when it’s quieter!) There are a number of restaurants that are not included in the all inclusive option and charge you! We’ve never had this issue before … again disappointed.
The gym is good- actually really great facilities with lots of dumbbells - it’s large - part outdoor with industrial fans but has no aircon though! Staff are lovely and I hope the hotel pay them well!
We will not be coming back - as so disappointed with the lack of “all inclusive” food. We’ve had to go out for lunch and dinner a few times as the food is bland, and the same food every day no themed nights or variety.
We’ve paid over £5,000 and feeling really deflated!
We arrived on Thursday and are still currently staying at the hotel. We booked two rooms, but they were allocated in completely different blocks, separated by a main road, which was far from ideal for our group.
One of the rooms presented a serious health and safety concern. The balcony railing inside the room was loose, and the railing directly outside the room was also loose. Considering this room was on the 6th floor, this was extremely worrying. We reported the issue immediately and requested to move rooms. Initially, we were told that no larger rooms were available. However, after showing staff that rooms were still available to book online, we were eventually moved. This should not have required persistence on our part.
The hotel itself is very tired and poorly maintained. There is peeling paint throughout, dirty carpets, cracked tiles in numerous areas, and an overall feeling of neglect. The photographs and star rating do not reflect the reality of the property.
The food has been one of the biggest disappointments. We paid for an all-inclusive package, yet the food has been so bland and lacking in variety that we have chosen to eat out every day. There are two restaurants attached to the hotel, but neither is included within the all-inclusive package, which feels misleading.
The hotel also operates a “Royal Level” upgrade. Given the limited facilities, food choices and overall standard of the hotel, it seems strange that certain services are restricted behind an additional paywall rather than being available to all guests.
Entertainment is virtually non-existent. There is no atmosphere, no music, and very little happening around the hotel during the day or evening.
I booked this holiday through TUI, and I am genuinely disappointed that this property is marketed as a 4-star hotel. In my opinion, it is closer to a 2-star standard. This experience has significantly reduced my confidence in TUI’s hotel ratings and recommendations.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel. It is dated, grubby, poorly maintained and lacking in both quality and atmosphere. The best description I can give is that it feels like a version of Fawlty Towers relocated to Lanzarote.
Love barcelo, but not the hotel for us. Very average experience. Poor quality food and drink options. Bar staff would always try to serve cheap spirits over branded. Daily fight for sun beds. Poor air-conditioning in room. Wouldn't return to this hotel.
Just watched Rock Nation perform. Despite England losing the World Cup semi final, this Argentinian group were absolutely marvellous, performing for nearly 2 hours. Well done to everyone concerned.
