Mogan Princess and Beach Club

My partner, myself and my son recently travelled to mogan princess resort for a week in the sun, the location is ok around 40 mins transfer times from the airport, 10 minute walk from the beach and a couple of bars and 10 mins in a taxi to Puerto Rico.

The rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels and pretty much what you’d expect to be honest from any hotel.

Food was very samey, I’d seriously consider eating out more than staying in, if you also have picky eaters for children it probably isn’t for them what so ever as there’s 0 selection bar chips for children.

What really let this hotel down from a 4 star review to a 3 was the entertainment team, they don’t even acknowledge you if your English ( at least we found as there was a lot of Spanish there ), no good mornings, no go round the pool do you want to take part etc nothing, then to top it off made a little girl cry because she couldn’t sing her karaoke song because they was 10 mins over there time… but continued to play music in the bar and again start chatting to other guests. Not what you’d expect for a family hotel in my opinion.

Would I stay here again probably not, but was an enjoyable week away making memories with my family.

Review

Me and my partner (mid 30s) stayed here late August 2026 for 4 rare child free nights. We’re not complaining people, but I can see why some of the reviews have some negativity. For us, it was a fabulous experience considering the value compared to elsewhere on the island.

Amazing Points

The views are breathtaking - lying in bed with the curtains open staring at postcard like views is dreamy. People would pay the money to watch the sunset from the cabanas outside the hotels sunset bar alone

Hotel Staff - are polite, courteous and constantly striving the keep the place clean. Very punctual and rigid though, the bar shuts at 6pm on the dot mid order or not and even if you get late check out the cleaner will be waiting outside the door at that time.

Hotel amenities - The bus service to Puerto de Mogán is great, it also goes down the valley to the beach in Taurito many times a day which is handy. On the beach the hotel has a bar where you can use you all inclusive benefits for drinks and food. (You do have to pay for the sun loungers though €10 but that’s normal on Spanish beaches)

Adult only pool - If your evading the rugrats like us then this was amazing, peace and quiet in the side of the mountain with a self service bar. Idillic.

Things I think people might find annoying but didn’t bother us too much

Taurito - Everything is a bit dated, not much there aside from the Waterpark and a few shops. Nice enough for a day out but nothing high octane.

The Beach - The sand is scalding so footwear is required and the sea was quite choppy with a strong undercurrent. I wouldn’t let kids go in alone. But I enjoyed splashing around with my snorkel.

Hotel - It’s very dated, rooms are perfectly fine and spacious but I did have flashbacks of staying in my great grandmas spare room. Has everything you need but would benefit from having a fridge.

Hotel Layout/Steps - It’s a big hotel with multiple blocks meaning many lifts and steps. It was 4 separate lifts or 293 steps to our room (worth it for the views) but sometimes the lifts were like Russian roulette, often breaking. I foresee issues for those navigationally challenged as the blocks and stairs all look the same. It was manageable although sometimes tedious for us but would be a big issue for the less mobile.

Food/All inclusive - Perfectly fine and served a purpose, snack bar is handy but I could see it becoming repetitive if we stayed longer than a week. Drinks have a great selection but it’s all self service, I’ve learnt I am terrible at pouring a pint however many I rammed down my neck to ‘practise’.

Minimal British people - For us this was a pro and gave the place an authentic feel, all the entertainment is Spanish as is most of the music. I could see some people not liking that.

Entertainment - pretty average, even the Spanish all leave at 10pm to avoid the headache from the disco and the daytime stuff is rather basic. The staff try hard but more imagination and variance required.

Transfers - if you a going via a package holiday, your the last drop off and first pickup, around 75mins on the coach on some sketchy roads albeit with magnificent views.

We wouldn’t ever bring the kids, not enough for kids to do in the hotel and local area. The hotel layout would probably end up with us losing one of them and I’d probably leave more stressed and need another holiday

Other Useful Info

• Go to Puerto Rico (€15 in a taxi) for a night out, lots of lively atmosphere in the commercial centre and plenty of restaurant choices

• Go to Puerto De Mogan, use the bus service and have a wander, beautiful architecture around the harbour and a nice beach.

• Choose the early dinner sitting (1900hrs-2015hrs) the later one (2015hrs-2100hrs) is absolutely packed and queues up the stairs as Europeans usually eat late.

Summary

Absolutely perfect for what we wanted, 10/10 experience and fantastic value. If it’s a couples break then absolutely yes, family holiday or don’t like steps - probably not.

We visitws as a family of 7, over 3 generations, this is not A hotel to visit if you have mobility or health issues it would be ok if all the lifts worked and had lifts that went to each floor without changing and climbing stairs in between! Once in the room the views are lovely. Entertainment is catered for Spanish/french/Italian. Very very little English translation, the entertainment team have little conversations in Spanish so as English guests we felt very left out and not included. The food was good not much choice for children other than spaghetti and chips every night, unless your little travellers are more adventurous. The pool area gets very busy and very wet and slippery. There are signs to not save sun loungers before 10am, this was not enforced. The toilets in communal areas do not lock properly. I can not fault the cleanliness of the hotel. Christian in reception was lovely and very helpful. The bus to the beach was very welcome and a lovely idea given that the hotel is on a cliff face, maybe having a bus running in the evenings would be a nice idea or at least a little later to allow longer spent on the beach or some nice sunset photos down there Would we return, no, we have spent the last 10 years visiting the Princess hotel in La Palma and do like the Princess chain, however I do not feel the Morgan Princess hotel carers for English guests.
