Abora Interclub Atlantic

This is the second Abora hotel we have stayed in Gran Canaria. After reading some of the reviews I felt a little hesitant after we had booked. However, we had a wonderful holiday at the Interclub. Room access for us wasn’t an issue, but the lugging of the cases up and down the stairs at the beginning and end of the holiday was only a small inconvenience. The room was lovely, spacious and clean. And our balcony overlooked the pathway through the resort. People moaned about sunbeds on here, really wasn’t an issue. Que at 9am if you want specific beds around the pool, or if you’re no bothered there’s plenty around on the grass area under the trees. Sunbeds were never an issue for us and we was there for two weeks mid August! The pool.. was lovely, spacious and the slides gave it the extra fun factor. Life guards were hot on inflatables and balls, but it doesn’t stop the fun in the pools like we thought it may have. The only downside for us was, after a week my son was complaining of severe ear pain. We had to call a doctor out and it turned out he had bacteria in his ear from the pool, to which we found out multiple other children in the hotel were also suffering with the same. This then led to medication and no ‘submerging his head’ under water for the rest of the holiday, and a costly bill. Puts a downer on it when you then can’t really use the pool with a water loving 8 year old and paying through the roof for an all inclusive holiday. We ended up leaving the resort everyday for the rest of the holiday and paying out do to more exploring so avoid going in the pool as much. That would be my only negative for our experience at this hotel. The food was great, again saw bad reviews however we enjoyed it. My fussy eating son, found things to eat, even if it was just chips and bread rolls some days. Breakfast was the best option for him. There is also the snack bar open all day which mainly was hot dogs and burgers and then chips, various side dishes and puddings. The unlimited ice cream from the snack bar was always a hit. Again, drinks machines were dotted all around the resort and boxes were around to put your used cups in which meant the resort was tidy and no used cups left anywhere. Evenings in the restaurant had some entertainment like a saxophone player and violin player which was lovely to have while eating. There is a play park, football courts, ping pong, pool tables, arcade. The entertainment during the day and evening was great, the reps worked so hard on entertaining. We enjoyed a few games of bingo and the Micheal Jackson evening entertainment was fabulous!! The beach was a walk down the hill and steps, walk down was lovely, however the walk back up the hill wasn’t as pleasant in the heat. But we did this most days when we left the resort, it wasn’t an issue. When you leave the hotel there isn’t anything around, a Spar is about 10 mins down the hill. We walked into San Agustin to use the buses to go about and explore, downloading the app is very useful!

Overall, other than the ear pandemic with children at the hotel, we had a wonderful stay and we would definitely return again, but would probably try another Abora hotel elsewhere.

Spent 10 nights here in the middle of August with wife, 14 year old daughter and 12 year old son.

The hotel is located in a quiet area at the top of a hill, around a 20 minute walk from St Agustin shopping centre. A taxi into the Irish part and Yumbo centre of playa del ingles was around €10, so not too bad. The nearest beach was around a 10 minute walk, but down a lot of steps.

The food was your normal all inclusive, repetitive, but there was always a choice you could find to eat at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was fresh with lots of salad, fruit and a small kids section too. Drinks were decent too, serve yourself, unless you wanted cocktails or spirits.

The hotel was clean and staff were constantly working to keep it that way, the pool areas were great and the kids had great fun in the pools and on the slides. The room was big with a separate bedroom for adults, bathroom a good size, cleaned daily and towels topped up.

The entertainment staff were good, evening entertainment was ok, not my cup of tea, but people seemed to enjoy it.

Lack of bar area around the pools and the hotels location were the only reason I gave it 4. Excellent holiday had by all, a nice hotel…

A week away for our 30th wedding anniversary. In this lovely hotel. Top of a hill in San Agustín with a great view down to the Maspalomas dunes in the distance.( 5.5 mile walk if your interested to lighthouse) .

From arrival all staff super friendly seamless check in. We did arrive 3 hours late thanks Jet2. No worries 24 hour AI so could get a couple of drinks and a snack.

Room spacious and clean. Water left in room and a fridge. Rooms cleaned daily.No issues at all with room or lifts.

Huge complex a few pools we had access to adults only pool so nice and quiet.

AI drinks very good. We had branded spirits and a huge selection got served very quickly even at peak times. There were self serv pumps for beer Amstel Wine and soft drinks.

Food has been great this is our last night and apparently an Asian inspired menu tonight. What’s also great is snack bar is open 11 hours per day as well. With plenty of choice which has come in handy if miss a meal sitting. Even at 2130 they were bringing out fresh pizza and burgers with fruit also available.

A free bus leaves twice a day to the dunes which we have used and then walked back. Although bus does also come back twice a day.

We have stayed in Gran Canaria a few times this has been best hotel yet.

In summary Friendly staff nice room great drinks and food. Pools amazing. Had a really lovely week away and would highly recommend to anyone.
