I’m currently halfway through a two-week stay at the Bull Costa Canaria & Spa, and I can honestly say this is the best all-inclusive hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. From the moment we arrived, everything has been exceptional. The food is superb, with a fantastic choice and excellent quality every day. One thing that has really impressed us is the entertainment – it’s varied, enjoyable and, unlike many hotels we’ve stayed at, it isn’t simply the same programme repeated every week. It makes a two-week stay so much more enjoyable. The biggest credit, however, has to go to the staff. Every member of the team we have encountered has been kind, courteous, friendly and incredibly helpful. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble, and you genuinely feel that they want you to have the best possible holiday. I was initially a little concerned when we were allocated on the 6th floor, as I wasn’t sure about being so high up. I needn’t have worried – it has actually turned out to be a bonus, as the view is absolutely superb and has added even more to our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful, well maintained and has a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. You can tell that a great deal of care goes into making sure guests have an excellent experience. We’re only halfway through our holiday and already I know this is somewhere I would happily return to. It takes a lot for a hotel to exceed expectations in so many areas, but the Bull Costa Canaria & Spa has managed to do exactly that. A huge thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so special. If the second week is anything like the first, we genuinely won’t want to leave!
First of all this hotel, just like every other, falls into two categories.
One positive, and the other is negative but not in an unacceptable way.
So firstly let's focus on the positive aspects of this particular hotel, of which they're are many.
My wife and I arrived extremely late due to the abysmal situation with the ESS at Las Palmas airport, so didn't get to the hotel until after 12.30pm , but the reception staff informed us there was something prepared for us to eat in the dinning room.
Just about every solitary room faces forwards towards the pool and the sea, so from the 2nd floor upwards you have both a pool view and a sea one. Don't let the holiday companies beguile you into spending extra on a better view from your room. It'll be a waste of money. As far as the rooms are concerned they're massive. They're kept spotlessly clean with both your bedding and towels changed every single day. There's a TV in each room with four English channels plus a fridge with a bottle of fresh water delivered daily.
All the staff are excellent and exceptionally friendly except for a few individuals which I'll come to in the negatives.
The daily activities and facilities here are again excellent and put most other hotels my wife and myself have stayed in to shame. There's an on site Spa where the all of the facilities are there, free of charge, for the customers leisure. The ONLY aspect of the spa you have to pay for is the treatments themselves. There's an excellent in house gym with modern technology and facilities, there's two pool tables, a table tennis table, mini golf, French bowels, a full size tennis court too. With large gardens where daily activities take place. Archery, air rifle shooting, Tai chi, Yoga etc etc. There are also night time turns on in both the main bar area inside the hotel and in the outdoor Ala cart restaurant.
Now to look at the negative aspects of the hotel. Whilst it's in close proximity to two well served bus stops immediately outside the hotel itself and you can book as many trips from the hotel itself as you wish, you do feel it's isolated due to its location. There's few local shops, restaurants and a cocktail bar immediately outside the hotel itself.but apart from that that's it.
I'd personally say it's too quiet on a night time if you wish to walk off an evening meal and do a bit of shopping etc.
Some of the staff in the self service restaurant at both the daytime and nighttime sessions can be extremely German centric. I personally did notice this on numerous occasions and just chose to ignore this. On one particular occasion at night neither my wife nor myself were approached to see if we wished to have a drink with our evening meal, and yet others around ourselves were served immediately as soon as they sat down.
There aren't enough toilets around the pool area. There's only one set of toilets fir both male and female guest around the pool, and the actual number of toilets inside isn't sufficient for the amount of guests. The restaurant at the side of the pool refuses to serve ANY guests after 11am on their last day of stay, but you do still have use of the main buffet restaurant within the hotel itself. Despite the fact of staying within the main hotel itself, the bungalows in the hotel grounds look extremely dated and in dire need of refurbishment along with the swimming pool with peeling paint being predominant on its floor making it look dated. The staff in this hotel are constantly on the go though, the animation team, the pool attendees, the waiters and the waitresses, even the manager himself is there all day long.
Would we stay here again? Absolutely. Without a shadow of a doubt. My gripes are very very minor and wouldn't prevent me from EVER staying here again. The staff are what made this holiday for us and really do make it special. IT was our wedding anniversary whilst we stayed here and it was celebrated with us by a bottle of wine and some fruit placed in our room. I'd heartily recommend this hotel to everybody.
We stayed for 7 nights half board. Firstly about where we stayed which was a bungalow No 803 . On entering it smelt very musty and the bathroom was in desperate need of a refurb even the towels were thin and had small holes in them . The room was serviced ever day with clean cup/glasses, bed made and a bottle of water left. There was plenty of wardrobes and drawer space, but with chipped floor tiles and missing grout, in my opinion they are not worth the money. Breakfast was the normal spread and dinner was hard to get a decent meal as most dishes didn't compliment eachother so we just ate smaller randon dishes. Ordering drinks was difficult as we felt we were ignored when other guests ( Germans) were served, also paying for the drinks was very strange, halfway through dinner when you were eating someone would come round with the card machine for you to pay. The outdoor pool could do with a clean and a bit of paint and maybe a reminder on how to treat guests, as when i came out of my bungalow wearing flipflops and wet hair after showering I was told to get out of the pool and shower. I explained I already did and was told no I needed to shower or no pool , i'm an adult not a child ! I didn't use it after that. The spa area was nice but the water was a little to warm and it can get busy. And yes there are cockroaches we had them in the bungalow they were coming up through the plughole in the shower. I will be adding photos at some point.
We have just returned from this hotel after a fortnight s holiday. If you are planning on booking this hotel please do. The hotel is spotless and there are people cleaning all the time, our room 116 was large ,clean and a big balcony with comfy chairs it had palm trees growing very near it don't be put off you still have a great view and they give you shade. The only down side the shower was not great kept slipping down. The staff are friendly especially the guy who works by the pool ( the one who works most days) he was so helpful finding us a sunbed and we did swap a couple of times and he never stops helping other guests. The ticket system does work well. The spa is amazing and free to use ( apart from treatments which I had and were fantastic) try the dead sea cave and the dry water massage. The food is varied yes there's salad meat pasta, etc every day but you can create different meals every day and the theme nights are great. The hot tub on the roof is also worth a try as the view is amazing. There are also management walking round all the time checking everything . The only downside we found ( and this is not really the hotel) there is not much to walk to if you fancy a short stroll to work off your lovely meals there are no gift shops around you can walk along the sea promenade but as my husband does not have great health we couldn't walk too far along this. However the bus service from the top of the road is excellent we used it regularly to get around. Would we stay here again? Yes definitely.
Stars of the show were the staff. From domestic/restaurants/bars/coffee club/spa, the entire list of facilities. Friendly, welcoming, helpful, attentive. Left several tips that were well deserved.
Hotel itself was beautiful. Quiet, peaceful, good food, incredible spa, extras like poolside pizza and coffee club are also fantastic. San agustin is a lovely quiet place and only a short and cheap taxi away from busier areas such as maspalomas. Perfect stay if youre looking for an adults only gran canaria holiday
