Really disappointed with this hotel and expected more from the RIU brand. The grounds have a problem with ants that they clearly don’t even try to do anything about, especially around the Dunas bar area. The nightly entertainment is quite frankly laughable and non existent after 10pm.. embarrassing for them that both of the resorts either side still has decent live music/entertainment ongoing whilst they let their guests sit in silence without so much of even a playlist on a speaker after the live entertainment has finished. The food is repetitive and this hotel doesn’t do ‘themed nights’ so if you like eating burgers everyday, this is the place for you. The olè restaurant is the poorest place I’ve ever eaten. I ended up leaving the whole plate. The steak they served was full of fat and gristle to the point I could not cut into it. The Asian restaurant isn’t much better - poor quality food and we left 15 minutes after sitting down at our second table as the waitress seated another couple on our table whilst we were up getting our food. The wristbands are low quality. Mine had to be changed several times due to it becoming too tight on your wrist and unable to loosen them.
The only reason I’ve given this hotel 3 stars is because the rooms are clean and most of the staff that work here are friendly. If this wasn’t the case, it would be receiving 1 star. Definitely will not be returning here and do not think that RIU Papayas is worthy of the 4* rating it obtains.
Lovely hotel and staff but let down badly by the entertainment on an evening. Entertainment very basic and only on for 45minutes ish every evening and then the entertainment area closes with no background music or DJ creating a flat atmosphere.
Evening entertainment was very poor. Animation Team very good especially Danny who done aqua gym he was so funny. Drinks are poor quality, no branded alcohol. Restaurant okay breakfast was best.
Just returned from a lovely week's stay at the Riu Papayas all inclusive. Generally the hotel is worth visiting but for me no barista made coffee machine was very disappointing especially as I mainly drink decaf and all that is provided is instant sachets which taste terrible and cheap. I think for the money paid and the fact that this is a 4 star hotel there should be a bar that has a 'proper' barista coffee machine and not just the option of what I call lazy one button machines or sachets. The cocktails are poor and not freshly made. Food was good but the night in the hotel Spanish restaurant was disappointing and steak with mash is not what I would call a typical Spanish meal. I also had to return my first steak that arrived as I asked for medium rare but this was more like Blue and very fatty. No nuts provided at breakfast (walnuts or almonds) which I usually have with yogurt and fruit. We were in room 621 and there was an awful smell of urine everyday coming up from the shower drain. Entertainment team are very good and include you in the games and activities.
