This fabulous hotel is located in Playa del Inglés on the marvellous island of Gran Canaria, only 31 kilometres from Gran Canaria International Airport. Located within 700 metres from a beautiful sandy beach, this charming establishment is a perfect destination for all those who wish to enjoy sun and crystal clear turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is within easy reach from numerous bars and restaurants, as well as from shopping areas and entertainment venues. This wonderful property offers beautifully appointed rooms and suites enjoying balcony or terrace, where guests may relax and unwind at the end of the day. Patrons may taste delicious selection of dishes at the smart restaurant and follow it by a refreshing drink from a poolside bar. The establishment has a wellness area, outdoor swimming pools, a hydromassage bathtub and a cyclonic shower.
Dip into one of the 2 outdoor swimming pools or enjoy other recreational amenities including a sauna and a fitness centre. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, tour/ticket assistance and bike parking.
This our third visit to Gold and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else. The hotel is spotlessly clean with teams working constantly to improve areas. Customer service from all the staff is brilliant. The breakfast and unlimited pink fizz is the perfect start to any day. The mix of a guitarist and DJ on different days gives the hotel an extra element of holiday vibes. The pool is lovely with the lifeguard working through the day to keep it clean and maintained. Location is excellent, walking distance to the beach and minutes from the night life at the Yumbo but far away enough to be peaceful. Rooms are spacious with great amenities. We will be back again next year, thank you gold!
The staff are amazing, the food is great (you will struggle to find a better breakfast buffet for the price, it’s unreal!), the rooms are super clean and a great size with everything you need, you’re walking distance from a a lot of places, but taxis are also very quick & cheap.
We spent a lot of time out and about, but the two pool days we had, there were no issues finding sunbeds. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was extremely laidback, the perfect adults only vibe. We also didn’t have any issues with noise, even when Spain won the World Cup Semi Finals! We will definitely be back!
Stayed here the past week with my partner for our third time. We had returned as we had enjoyed our previous visits so much. This visit was no exception.
Right from the stay when you arrive at check-in, you are made to feel special and welcomed with a glass of spelling rosé cava. Our room was ready just after 2pm and even though we usually book a suite (none left this time) the room we have was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a good stay. The bottle of wine and sweets left in the room on arrival are a nice touch.
The room was very clean and the staff member responsible for cleaning and maintenance deserve a special mention as they go unseen a lot of the time, just behind the scenes. They do an amazing job as the hotel is spotless and everything works perfectly!
The staff at the hotel do make the stay extra special and nothing is ever too much trouble. We even attended the ‘Bubbles with the Team’ event this year, something we hadn’t gone to on previous visits. It was nice to meet a few members of the team and have a chat to them as well as the general manager, Renaud.
We did have an issue one day using the ‘Food to Go’ app as our order wasn’t confirmed so we weren’t sure if we should expect food, or not. The expected time lapsed by 15 mins so I went to question at the restaurant. This caused some misunderstanding with a member of staff, who offered an apology once they realised offence had been taken to a comment made. I also received a phone call to follow up and a little gesture of goodwill from the hotel manager. This was absolutely not necessary but gratefully received and just shows the high level of customer care at the hotel.
The hotel is has great amenities with two good sized pools. We prefer the area around the Bali beds but there is also a good space around the main pool, as well as a Tropical rooftop space with jacuzzi and sauna. Again, all is maintained and cleaned well. The DJ at the pool on Sunday is always a big hit!
Breakfast at the hotel is highly recommended as it is excellent value with a very large range of food available. There is a wide selection of hot and cold food and drink, with something for every taste. The breakfast timing is also great as it runs from 8:30 until midday.
A little more needs to be down to pro-actively stop selfish guests reserving sun-lounges with towels. On this visit, we observed one family of between 8 and 10 who would go and reserve lounges with towels, then go and spend two hours having breakfast before then deciding if they wanted the sun-lounges, or not. Quite often deciding to go for a walk, or to the shop before finally settling into a lounger for an hour. They did this each morning whilst other guests struggled to find space.
On our first visit a few years ago, cards were placed on unused beds when the life-guard did routine walk-arounds. Then if the cards were still there on the next visit, the beds were not being used and so belongings were removed. There needs to be something like this put on place to deter this selfish behaviour.
The hotel, as mentioned in previous reviews, is ideally situated close to Yumbo and the beach. There is also a very good, convenient supermarket next door with a few restaurants also on the door-step. The on-site restaurant, Palma La Sur is fantastic and a definite must place to eat. The hotel wi-fi is also free and very good.
We hope to return at some point next year.
What a fabulous hotel and the service was amazing, it was my husbands birthday while we were there and bottle of bubbly was left in our room, rooms cleaned every day and we had water and some beers left for us, DJ round the pool was fab, the pool area was gorgeous, I would recommend Gold in a heartbeat, we have the holiday blues now… Thank you for a fab stay xx
This was my third time at Gold by Marina, and it never disappoints. I was there with my friends and family, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The facilities are excellent. Great choice at breakfast for all tastes. I alternated between hot breakfast, and continental. The pool area is wonderful. My son particularly loved the cabanas, it was his first time, and he is raring to go again. I don’t think I could stay anywhere else in PDI, this hotel ticks every box
