Abora Continental by Lopesan Hotels

My partner and I stayed for a week in this hotel. We went all inclusive plus which I think was worth the money. We stayed on the 4th floor and had a balcony with a view of the beach and main road, directly above the construction works going on - this didn’t bother us - the workers definitely had limited hours when they could work and noise wasn’t bad at all. The room was spacious and clean, run down in places but expected. We left a card in the slot at all times so the AC was lovely to come back to when needing a cool down. The food was good, expected with an ai buffet, it had different theme nights with a variety of other foods. However, there was a lot of pork on offer, it seemed like one of the only meats sometimes so limited options for meat if you’re not a pork lover like myself. The pool bar and snack bar was great, always stocked up with hot food from 11am. From reading previous reviews about sun loungers I was a bit apprehensive and worried we wouldn’t ever get one. However, we always found a sun lounger and didn’t need to get up early either, timing was never a problem. That been said, a lack of parasols was the issue for us as we didn’t want to be in the full sun constantly and preferred to have loungers with parasols. Unfortunately we only managed this twice in the whole week. It was a regular occurrence to see that some days people would reserve sunbeds with towels and parasols and not turn up for hours which was frustrating to see. There is a worker who goes around and does ticket sun beds without anyone on but we only saw this happen twice and was around lunch time both times! This been said, the times when we were sun bathing and loungers were left unattended for hours no one came over and ticketed them! Very inconsistent service. The night time entertainment was okay. We never got seats for the entertainment as there simply isn’t enough for the amount of guests they have. We usually stood and watched along with everyone else who didn’t get a seat. Big groups typically reserved spots as soon as dinner opened at 6:30! As soon as the entertainment was gone, most people went to bed so that’s when we’d get a seat and have more drinks from the bar. As we were AIplus we found the drinks to be great, a little on the strong side for some, but nice overall. The beer selection wasn’t the best however but still nice. The bar did shut at 11:30 each night, even at the weekend when a sign said 1am close! The beach was a close walk as well as some shops and a bus stop.

Overall, a very enjoyable trip, and a lovely stay :)

Loud building works. We are coming to the end of a week at the hotel, our 3rd visit in 3 years as the hotel is great for the price and we've never had any issues before. However on arrival we realised there are extensive building works going on, outside at the front and side of the building where previously there had been a row of shops. We were disappointed as these have been handy in the past, though there are other shops nearby.

My children are both neurodivergent and spend most of the day, happily hanging out in their room however I did notice they both seemed more overwhelmed than usual when they joined me in the evening. Unfortunately I hurt my back quite badly on the 2nd day and needed to spend most of the day in bed which was when I discovered that there had been very loud drilling pretty much all day everyday. There is no way anyone could sleep past 8.15 am, take an afternoon nap or use the balcony if their rooms are on the front or road side of the hotel, which is a large percentage of the rooms. Jet2 have been pretty rigid in their claim it is minor disruption. It is not. The hotel offered a late check out on one of our 4 rooms and jet2 a £50 voucher. I didn't want to spoil the holiday arguing but I won't be returning again and I'm not sure I'll use Jet2 again tbh. I feel we should have been warned about the works so we could have preemptively requested quiet rooms (ND kids won't move once they've settled in a space).
