first time at the hotel for my wife and myself loved our stay , all the staff very polite and helpful especially a waiter named yannis we couldn't fault anything only reason we didn't give five stars was we had a late arrival due flight delay, would have been nice been to be given a drink and perhaps some sandwiches and sure we will return some time in the future . This hotel is so lovely! The staff are wonderful, it’s immaculate, the gardens and surroundings are beautiful and there is abundant delicious food. It’s an oasis in the desert and such a special place. We will definitely be back .
Great location with good mountain views, easy to walk up and down to the harbour and all of the shops and restaurants. Lovely large room and comfy bed. Very sunny balcony our side room 5118 over looking the spa pool area. Bathroom very dated with shower over bath which is not great for all ages. The gardens were amazing, bushes, flowers and plants everywhere. Both swimming pools were absolutely immaculate as were the footpaths and grounds. Service was mainly good but they seemed very short staffed at times, dining tables stayed littered and unlaid for too long, tea pots were in short supply, and the pool bar staff were like snails. Towels can be changed daily around the pool which is nice. The lifeguards were very friendly and often entertained the children. Usual pool entertainment was good, water aerobics, volleyball etc., We were happy with the selection of breakfast foods in the buffet but very disappointed with evening meals. The food is very German/Dutch based which is probably why TUI have guests there all the time. It would have been nice for some evenings to be themed, like an Indian, Chinese, Italian or Mexican counter. The michelin star restaurant never seemed to have guests and remained looking empty for 10 days, maybe this would be better as a themed restaurant offering the guests one or two evenings a week away from buffet food? We really like silver service at night especially as we were asked by the Hotel to dress for dinner appropriately, no vests, flip flops and long trousers for men. (However on several occasions we saw a guy with dreadlocks, a vest, swimming shorts and crocs on!) If you wanted to switch your evening meal for a lunchtime snack on half board you were given 10 percent discount!

Having worked in this hotel many years ago I have always wanted to stay here so I was very excited.
The reception is out of this world, waterfalls, a great big dome, loads of plant life, it gives the wow factor as soon as you walk in.
It has an overall charm about the hotel, large grounds and colourful buildings, extremely clean and well kept gardens all throughout.
The room was lovely, some would say dated if you want plain white rooms with a bit of modern wood panelling you don't get that here and that is what attracted me, feels much more authentic. Our air con was great which we were grateful for as there was a heatwave during our stay. Cleaned daily. We stayed 10 nights and paid 18 euros for the digital safe to be activated. At 4 star plus rating I would have expected the safe to be free.
We stayed half board, mainly as it was only £90 per person difference overall to bed and breakfast. Food is plentiful, great quality, great choices. You choose a dinner seating on arrival and get a table allocated, this is great as you get that table reserved every evening. You can either choose 6.30pm until 8pm sitting or 8.30 until 10pm sitting and go down within that time window but have to be out by the end of that window so they can clean and re set the restaurant.
There are so many gorgeous restaurants in the resort we would not do half board again unless it's a minimal price difference as it would be a shame not to enjoy the variety of options on the walk down from the hotel to the beach front and Marina.
Pool areas, 2 big pool areas, a quieter pool near reception and another further in the grounds. This was definitely a negative experience for us. The quieter pool had a lot of returning customers, stared at constantly and one rule for them another for everyone else. For example, they all reserved sunbeds and left them, we put towels down popped into reception for 10 minutes and came out to cards stating you cannot reserve sunbeds....the rows in front of us were reserved before we arrived, no cards left. Also, one of our party had a small lilo and the lifeguard said not allowed in that pool....only for 5 minutes later a "regular" to climb in with a lilo and we were told "they come every year they have special permission"....pretty sure for the price we pay to stay here it should not matter. That is not 4 star plus service. So we moved to the other pool and pleased to say a much nicer welcoming atmosphere where lilo usage isn't on a favouritism basis, and they have activities like aqua aerobics and 2 fantastic jacuzzis.
I used the spa it was gorgeous, had 2 hours access and a full body massage. Very relaxing enjoyed every minute.
Overall we had a great holiday and would return for the facilities charm and overall quality of service. The favouritism could do with being addressed if they want to turn new customers into repeat customers.
Pop over the road to the commercial centre and visit the safari lounge bar, they have entertainment nightly around 9.45 which we found better than in the hotel but that is all personal preference. The show we saw in the hotel was good but the service was so slow, table service only so turned away from the bar
I do agree with most reviewers that the grounds are splendid wonderful selection of tress shrubs plants etc . Other than the reception staff ( which we only had one interaction with when checking in) I cannot agree that on the whole the remaining staff were cheerful, friendly etc . The bar staff in the lobby bar were grumpy we waited 25 mins for a drink on the first night were told they were busy but this did not appear to be the case . The staff at breakfast in the Tamaragua were however pleasant. We ate in the buffet restaurant Tamarona on two occasions. We waited approximately 25 mins for a table , there was not a long queue but just inefficiency on the part of the staff. By the time we had sat down had received our wine a half hour at least had passed and we were left with one hour for three courses which was very rushed. On the second occasion the person behind the dessert section started removing desserts @ 9.50 throwing used trays into piles making an awful noise not a very pleaseant experience. Our room though comfortable was very tired and desperately needs an upgrade especially the bathroom.Not sure that we would come again.
