What an absolutely incredible hotel! Everything about it was great! The hotel is simply stunning, it’s kept very nicely throughout with manicured lawns and fantastic palms trees everywhere. There are several pools to choose from and plenty of seating so you can get yourself a good spot without having to rush in the morning. We upgraded to the Unique experience and as nice as it was it wasn’t really necessary to make the break feel special. With the Unique upgrade we had a larger room and a separate pool and jacuzzi facilities we could use. We also had breakfast à la carte in a restaurants and a lounge with free drinks and snacks in the afternoon. All the staff we have come across were wonderful and friendly. Our flight was leaving really late but we still had access to the pool and lounge today and there was also a courtesy room available so we could have a shower before we left. Our room was serviced daily and it h had an amazing shower! I really couldn’t ask for more. The location is central and close to the beach. There are several restaurants around it and also a bus station where you can get buses to nearby towns or grab a taxi from the taxi rank outside. It was really hard to take photos to show the grandeur of the hotel and its grounds as it was huge and we just couldn’t do it justice.
The most amazing hotel. Especially the people who work on the terras make this place very special. Our last time here was 7 years ago and we were so happy to see Pedro again! Always a nice talk always happy en make us feel right at home. Thank you Pedro as always, and thank you Lopesan for all the great memories.
We have just finished a 10-night stay at Lopesan Costa Meloneras, staying on a bed and breakfast basis with Unique Club access.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is impressive and the grounds and pools are beautiful, but for a five-star hotel there are a number of smaller details that need attention.
The biggest positive is without doubt the staff. The hotel team were excellent throughout our stay. Everyone was attentive, friendly, always smiling and genuinely happy to help. A special mention has to go to Ziolo at the Unique pool bar, who was absolutely brilliant throughout our stay and is a real credit to the hotel.
Breakfast was another highlight. The choice is excellent, with a huge selection and, more importantly, the quality of the food was consistently very good. We couldn't fault it.
The Unique Club experience was also a worthwhile addition and gave us a quieter, more relaxed area around the pool.
Where the hotel falls short is in some of the finer details you expect from a five-star property. The rooms are now starting to feel dated and would benefit from refurbishment. Room cleaning also became inconsistent. It started very well, but during the final two days our room wasn't properly cleaned, although the bed was changed.
Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment came on our final day. We asked for a late checkout but none was available, which we completely understand if the hotel was busy. We were instead directed to the changing rooms and showers near the paddle courts so that we could shower and change before leaving.
These facilities were completely unacceptable for a five-star hotel. They were filthy, poorly maintained, with peeling paint and generally felt completely out of keeping with the standard the hotel presents elsewhere. Ending a 10-night Unique Club stay by being directed to facilities in that condition left a very poor final impression.
This is fundamentally a very good hotel with an excellent team, great pools, beautiful surroundings and a superb breakfast. However, five-star standards are often about the details, and there are areas of Lopesan Costa Meloneras that now need investment and more consistent attention.
We enjoyed our stay and the staff deserve huge credit, but with some refurbishment and greater attention to these details, the hotel could be considerably better.
Wow! What a hotel. This hotel is huge! We must have walked miles getting to and from our room and breakfast and the pool. Apparently 1000 rooms. The lifts were not very close to the rooms either, so if you have mobility issues and no wheelchair you may find getting around quite tiring. Having said that, the facilities for disabled people were excellent and always a helping hand from the lifeguard getting into the pool. There are plenty of sun loungers, so really there shouldn’t be an issue getting one around the 5 main pools. There is plenty of choice of food catering for all tastes, so you should never go hungry. The Italian Toscana restaurant is a must go to. Delicious food and excellent service. There is also an amazing steak restaurant El Churrasco at reasonable prices at the bottom of the resort facing the sea. Had a lovely meal there. We booked the Unique package and were able to have breakfast in our own dedicated restaurant so away from the crowds. We also had our own dedicated swimming pool which was beautiful and so peaceful. We were able to use the Unique lounge for snacks and drinks from 11-6, a nice little perk. The staff in housekeeping were great and very friendly with rooms cleaned to a high standard and another nice touch for being a Unique guest, they did a turn down at night and provided us with a chocolate treat! The restaurant staff were equally friendly as were the pool staff. A big, big shout out to Zollo who really worked hard and was always on the go by the Unique pool, lovely man. The only major let down with the staff was Unique reception area. We were promised a priority check in as one of the extras that we had upgraded to. Unfortunately we arrived at the hotel after a 3.5hr delay with our flight (obviously not the hotel’s fault) but when we went to the priority check in, we had to wait for 25 mins while other guests were checked in before us who were not in the Unique queue and when we requested assistance the receptionist was quite rude to us. When we complained about this and asked to see the manager, we were referred to Maryam, the guest relations who was absolutely wonderful and resolved our complaint. Obviously we thought that was the end of it but unfortunately we had absolutely the same treatment on check out when we requested a private room for late check out. We were told none available and the staff were quite indifferent to us. We certainly didn’t get the unique experience from reception that we should have done. Again Maryam managed to offer us a private room to enable us to change and freshen up. So, although we had a fabulous time at this hotel, it would have been even better if the staff in reception actually welcomed you with a smile instead of making you feel insignificant, especially on a Unique package, as we didn’t feel very special. We had previously stayed at the Baobob and The Villa Del Conde on the Unique package and we thought this hotel would be even better, but sadly reception let the hotel down.
